  2. Hmmmm I thought it was the one that started this thread but that’s not right. It may have been another thread that died out as this became the main discussion. Possible it was just in this thread somewhere but I felt like it was its own thread... anyways it was an article about the mistreatment of children crossing the border in these detention centers. Part (the main part?) of the criticism revolved around the doctors seeing the children. Doctors notes were part of it (they may have been leaked?). The article was either late 2017 or early 2018. But 3 of the doctors notes (with different patients) dates to 2016, before trump took office. Or maybe it was 2 in 2016 and 1 in January before the inauguration. Anyways, the point of the article (and the conversation in the thread) was the slam the trump admin. I remember having a conversation with a few people over the course of a page or two about how the doctors notes dated back to the Obama admin. The only reason it think it’s important to note is the trump admin is taking all the heat for this. And they deserve to be ridiculed. But it lets a lot of other people skate that contributed to this problem, and some way more than the rest. The reason I bring it up here is this idea of it being malicious. If the mistreatment if these children and the policy in general is malicious (as opposed to the result of politicians not doing their job, and a system being immensely overloaded) then the maliciousness dates back to the Obama admin (at least.) theres a lot if words to describe it. I don’t think malicious fits. (Although I consider trump, in general, to be a malicious person) (oh I realize that’s not a link to the article. It’s not where I thought it was. I’m hoping this will jog your memory enough we can move on? Seems minor anyways)

Well, he has 2 failed campaigns to prove your point. I think Elizabeth Warren is the one to watch. The whole Indian heritage thing is her Achilles heel and Trump will pound her with it. Plenty of men, who will never vote for a woman and even some women won't for a women. If she can somehow overcome that, she can give Trump a good fight. IF I were to pick who the nominee will be right now, I'll say it's her.

Maybe this will be a perfect storm for Warren. If she wins, who would be a good running mate for her? Excited for the debates. I hope they wear name tags.

I agree. My imagination has no problem imagining how it would happen. The plane shudders and tilts towards eventual meeting with the ground... but takes entirely too long to get there. Passengers are left with an unreasonable amount of time to contemplate death before meeting it. That time is just prolonged misery, that’s the part that makes it especially horrible.
  6. Which article are you talking about? Could you link or quote it? Not certain exactly what you're referring to here. (I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just a little confused.)

  9. Don't think I'v seen it mentioned yet -- anyone watching the new season of Handmaid's? Wondering if we want to watch it week by week or just wait until the whole season is available and binge it.

I specifically remember the ‘con’ of Obama choosing Biden was that Biden tended to say stupid and/or offensive stuff way too often. Im starting to think he’ll tank his own campaign and we don’t have to worry about 4 years of Biden.
  12. Specifically the children element. The doctors notes in the original article that jumpstarted the outrage date to before Trump took office.

"Look, I don't know what the problem is, " Biden said, while polishing a statue of Strom Thurmond with one hand and massing the shoulder of a sleeping elderly woman with the other.

Perhaps there should be a rule of at least two people in the ****pit at all times. If the pilot or copilot needs to leave the ****pit, then a stewardess has to at least be in the ****pit until they return. This would at least make it very hard to lock out the pilot/copilot.

    ***2019-2020 NBA Offseason Thread***

I don't know if Isiah Thomas is underrated. Maybe overlooked is a better word. I dunno, I don't think that guy gets the credit he deserves is what I'm trying to say. I know MJ said essentially "It's me or him" for the Dream Team https://www.vintagedetroit.com/blog/2018/12/12/the-story-behind-isiah-thomas-being-left-off-the-dream-team/ and I think not making that team plays a bit of a part in how he's (not) remembered. That, and everyone hated the Pistons. But he was a very dynamic player that, IMO, gets overlooked a bit. EDIT: To add to that, Magic, Bird and of course, Jordan, have been successful in their post NBA careers. Magic, great businessman. Bird won coach of the year, exec of the year...Jordan is Jordan. Isiah has been a flop everywhere he's been, IIRC.
  20. "This" what? Detaining people? I'm pretty sure it started way before Obama.
  21. But with the amount of snaps from gun in the NFL (it’s circa 70% overall and under Chip Kelly the 49ers were 99% one year) it’s not really a surprise formation. It’s pretty much ‘base offense now’ in the same way (and directly related) that nickel is the base NFL defense.

They might be statistically much safer, but the terror factor of impending doom and almost zero chance you are going to survive a bad crash may be why some people would prefer trains or even cars.
