Miami Herald: I’m done trying to understand Trump supporters. Why don’t they try to understand me?

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

― H.L. Mencken, July 26, 1920

Who gives a flying ****ity **** about Ben Shapiro. He’s stupidly irrelevant to the conservative movement in the grand scheme.

Conservativism today is Donald Trump. The conservative party caters and bends over backwards to Donald Trump. Conservative media is a mountain of bull**** that serves three purposes:

1. Covering for Donald Trump.

2. Trolling liberals

3. Flaming the culture wars

Case in point:

Yes, the decorated war veteran who took down John Gotti is the tyrant. Not the buffoon who may have conspired with a foreign enemy and consistently undermines our values.

Fascism check list:

1. Who today is leading an assault on the free press?

2. Who today is sowing racial division in the US?

3. Who scapegoats minorities at every step of the way?

4. Who equates expressions of free speech as anti-American and demands that certain speech be banned from his public office?

The answer to all these questions is Donald Trump and the Conservative party leaders who enable him.

And who voted for these clowns? Conservative voters.

So please spare me Ben Shapiro and Dennis Prager, two completely irrelevant jagoffs.

And just for the ****s and giggles, here is Ben Shapiro showing exactly who he is:

This man is your example for “conservatism isn’t racist”?

Ben Shapiro believes redistributing wealth to vulnerable communities is akin to rape, but he neglects to acknowledge the fact that, the Israel he so adores, wouldn’t exist without an extreme form of socialism. He’s a hypocrite, crying incessantly as he calls others snow flakes.

"republican" should be made as neutered-to-destroyed a brand in as deeply and broadly a manner as possible, for at least a decade

still plenty of worthy r's that fall into the never-trumpers group, or close to it, that didn't sell out, but their brand is now sewage and needs a lot of time to recover afaic

per actual "trump supporters" ....there are no passes in my world ala "some are fine people who do a lot of fine things"---it's true enough, and yet it matters not to me. On this, it's the same as my support for carol hauling the infected out of the prison and ending them for the well-being of the uninfected who are "more important" if there's to be a brighter future for humanity :)

per "enablers" as some separate category.....from the steve cortez's and paris dennard's of trumpworld to  melainia and all the adult kids and their spouses to little stevie miller and bannon and hannity and "that media" ilk......really, pretty much the entire cast from the small roles up to the repellent idiotic traitorous venal vile ****-grabbing reality-tv  manchild itself, so giddily chosen by legions of morons, bigots, racists, evang xtians (being redundant) and millions of other "often wrong but never in doubt" pinheads across the land.....they all merit the same degree of....appreciation...at the end of the day

I recognized from day one that there was no point in trying to talk to or understand these people. They hate us city folk and in turn, I hate them. We’re at war. Sure, they bring guns but we bring, or more accurately have the power to take away money. Let them have their way of life, but stop being the patsies who pay for it, whether through employment or redistribution of wealth via taxes.

^^ So twa and PeterMP are doomed to spend eternity together even after their mutual sufferance here?  :D

Indeed. On a somewhat related note, I lay awake at night worrying about the suffrage of twa and Trump supporters in general. I wish there was something I could do to help end it.

That is said tongue in cheek, but anti-intellectualism on the Right is rampant, ESPECIALLY within the American Evangelical church. I cannot tell you how many times someone has said something along the lines that education ruins people.

Yet they LOVE college football and basketball. 😜

Definitely plucks my magic twanger, intellect and education are fundamentally expressions of the innate curiosity that has driven us as a species. This is one of the (relatively few) positive traits we evince. When I hear this I pretty much dismiss the speaker as an Ug, berating his son Urk for daring to step out of the cave.

I know. It's odd that Neo-Cons and Trumpites allegedly hate wasteful government spending, especially on public (government) schools, but have NO problem shelling out millions and millions for coaches at state universities.

I enjoy college sports as much as the next guy, but something has to give.

End of personal rant.

Maybe they should save the rest of us the trouble and just become Amish. I love the Amish. They are backwards but they generally keep it to themselves.

As a Trump style payback, if we ever get control again, I’d love to see the Dems eviscerate the special treatment college football gets. Off the top of my head, I’d say capping athletic dept. budgets without regard to the source of the funds, college players get all profits from jersey sales, mandatory graduation rates based on standardized, core curricula, etc. The wailing and knashing of teeth from the Confederate Conference alone would be epic!!😈💩😈💩
