2017 - 18 Washington Capitals Thread

Recommended Posts

The Washington Capitals have acquired Tyler Graovac from the Minnesota Wild for a fifth-round pick in 2018.

Washington needed to acquire one more player who met the minimum requirements for the expansion draft or they would have had to expose two of Lars Eller, Tom Wilson or Jay Beagle. Graovac had seven goals and two assists in 52 games with Minnesota this season. Regardless of where he plays next season, he won't have any fantasy value.

Went on a cruise, bought one of those GIANT novelty Jack Daniels bottles.

So I'm ready for the season.

Go CAPS!

I wish we could unprotect everyone so Vegas could take all of our chokers.

Of course as soon as they leave D.C. they'll win 3 Stanley Cups.

I'd protect Schmidt over Carlson since Carlson is only here another year anyway.

As I understand it, there's no point in Las Vegas drafting a UFA because they will have first dibs on them once free agency opens up.  The RFA's are a bit of an issue though because they get the rights to them if drafted.

Schmidt and Grubauer are the only real concerns unless you have faith that Connolly can come on strong.

I had wondered why Schmidt was unprotected...I thought he looked awfully useful against the Pens, but figured the team knows better than I do.

Very excited to give up a solid young, FAST defenseman so we could keep Carlson for another year and get a little slower.

Another young, promising guy with a good cap hit gets away.. Its too bad they didn't expose some guys who'd actually free up cap space if taken.. Least we could replaced them with similar value/$ player.. Not sure there's any inexpensive (yet good) D men available. Even if we trade Grubs, we won't have much cap room.
