ExtremeSkins Staff
The 13-year vet made a late-season position swap in 2015, and now DeAngelo Hall has more time to adapt to his new place in the secondary. View the full article
Ethos95617
Personally, I think Hall is best suited for playing free safety. He's never been afraid to hit and he's always been one to make a play on the ball. Now, playing free safety, instead of corner, we don't have to worry so much about him biting on a double move because he'll be the safety net over the top instead of the one who got burnt with no one helping over the top. And being the ball hawk that he is should really pay huge dividends throughout the year. Even though our defense still sucked last year, they did improve down the stretch (when Hall was playing safety) even with a severely beaten down backfield. There's no way we're going to have the same injury issues as last year when we were calling guys off the street to start the year so things certainly will improve. Â Â I like the versatility they are developing on Def. While he will line up at FS, that does not mean he can't and will not line up at SS, especially if we get injuries. I am not sure how much people realize the number of injuries we had impacted the D. Yet, as you said the D improved down the stretch even though we had 3 guys not even on the team to start the season! We started more players in the secondary than any team in the NFL. Â I like Hall as the general back there. He can still cover people and as you said he can hit. Despite being accused of avoiding tackles early in his career, he has developed into a solid hitter. Â Maybe I am overly optimistic, but I really believe this D will be much improved. I think we are going to surprise some people.
