Josh Norman: "Kirk we whooped ya'll butt today"

If you listen closely to his interview, as well as the other defensive players, they all were in agreement that the offense handled them the first day but then they came back the next day and won.

That's what I like to hear, personally. One day offense, the next day defense. Toe to toe.

Yeah, one thing that you always hear about Seahawks practices is how "intense" and "high paced" they are.

We're headed there.  It's still may for crying out loud.

Training camp is going to be must see.  Ole' Jay was right when he said there would be an explosion with Junior coming out.  Imagine adding him to this mix.

We are change.

We're gonna change the way we run.

We're gonna change the way we eat.

We're gonna change the way we block.

We're gonna change the way we tackle.

We're gonna change the way we win.

We are change.

Great interview. I love his attitude! Like to hear Kirk is hyped during OTAs.

I could just be drinking too much of the kool-aid, but I think our D is going to surprise some people. A guy like Norman makes everyone around him better. Is it September yet?

I can't decide which I like more, the fact that Norman seems like a really good guy or that Kirk is so fired up for OTA practice. I'm liking this team more and more...

You know, that often gets lost on us fans here since we're so hardcore.

We get so caught up in the desire to win we forget that the core of our fanhood is to simply root for these guys, the team, the organization.

Some years that's hard to do. And it's not the losing that causes that for me. I've never had a problem accepting we're not a good team, because my fandom isn't based on wins or losses. If it was, I'd root for the Pats or whoever is the best at any given time.

Like, in 2006 when we were terrible under Gibbs, I had no trouble rooting for the team. There wasn't an ounce of anger in me. I mean, losses suck... but I still liked the team. I was emotionally attached to them and genuinely enjoyed rooting for their success.

I never struggled more to "like" the team than I did in 2013. There was so much not to like. The way our FO was structured. The way Robert and those around him were acting. The way Mike handled that. Jim Haslett. The way Mike ignored Special Teams to the point of it being historically bad. The PR war at the end between Mike and the FO. The way the scouts, whom after 2012 were all jumping at the opportunity to talk about their roles in the team's success, completely betrayed that and acted like it was all Mike.

Just, so incredibly ugly. Very few things to sincerely like, really.

And it's not that I didn't want those guys to succeed... it's just emotionally taxing to root for them when there's all that ugliness. When you get the sense that they themselves aren't together, so why should you be "together" with them? Why should you care about their success when they seemingly didn't care about each other's?

And that lead into 2014 for me because it was many of the same people involved, starting with Dan on down. It took a few games into the 2014 season for me to start really "liking" this group again, at a deep level. Part of that had to do with the way fans were questioning Jay's every move with Robert, but what I saw was someone who was just being honest and just so happened to echo the sentiments I had for some time myself. He separated himself from that "stuff" for me.

I really started to like Jay and root for his success. Had always been a big Kirk fan and really wanted him to do well. Still, Jim Haslett, though. Lol.

But with adding Scot last off season, all these young developing players, some top notch coaches at every position, a very likable guy in Joe Barry at D Coordinator, etc...

Man, it's hard not to really really really want to see this particular group succeed. Like, if they lose, it'll suck more than anything because of how enjoyable it is to see them happy and successful. They're a group I'll root for simply because I like them, not necessarily because I believe they'll win (though I believe I can objectively conclude they're moving in the right direction).

It's nice to say that again. It's like Gibbs 2.0 all over again for me. And 2011-2012 up until the Browns game. The losses never really stung for a long time, I just liked those teams too much.

I wonder if this makes any sense.

I skipped it, gotta get up early tomorrow.  But, I love your passion my man. :)

Good to see DHall running around out there.  I know Keim wrote that Hall was making a smooth transition to FS, but I'll believe it when I see it.  The only thing that gives me hope, is that he was always such a gifted athlete, he might be able to pull it off.

I thought he played more snaps closer to the LOS last year at safety, but I could be wrong.  I just remember his run support and willingness to attack the ball carrier last year.  We shall see.

Yeah, kind of weird that we on ES tend to refer to Hall as a FS, but last year he played SS, and this year he's doing the same (at the moment). I guess it just seems to make sense that Ihenacho/Bruton play SS and Hall has the better range (than Duke anyway) for FS, but it ain't so simple.

Nice most TSO!!  I will follow you into battle anytime!

Seriously, 2013 was the lowest I ever remember being in over 45 years of following this team. I felt betrayed. I would never move to another team, but I did pick a second favorite just to save my sanity! (full disclosure it's AZ). Honestly, it's what comes to mind every time I start getting excited about this team. All I can think of is - remember 2013! Will be glad when that feeling goes away!

There reason I think there is hope he will do well is because Hall was always a decent tackler.  if he wasn't then forget it.

Good post subs.

The Fassel, Zorn years were my lowest point. We were so pathetically disappointing. Completely adrift. The Monday night giants game was my lowest point. I'm such an optimist and that night, sitting in Snyder's moms seat, is when it hit me, just how pathetic our organization had gotten.

The MS years, you could feel up turn. Like our busted up car was finally back on the road, as rocky as it was, at least we were moving.

I really like our team now, from the way the FO is handling everything, to Jay and Joe's personality to the enthusiasm of the players.

We've gone from hanging our hopes on guys bouncing back and forth from the PS, to the IR and back, to watching starters hold off back ups and guys win jobs outright.

I love this team.

When signing Norman I was excited and after doing some research became more hyped about the pickup. It's always tough to put dollar amount on leadership, but it appears he'll soon become the face of the defense and possibly the team. It's nice to see hes taking his time with not saying too much, being respectful to the vets already on roster.

Sub, this made perfect sense.  You said exactly what most of us felt in 2013, in a direct and eloquent way. Great post.  Jay won me over last year, and trust me, I was a huge critic.  He took a stand.  The best part is Scot stood by his side and supported him.  For the first time in many years I understood we were not dysfunctional.  Imagine that.  Great post brother.  Hail

Man.. I kinda miss those white pants that you see Breeland wearing in the vid... Yeah.. I miss that look.

Me too, but when the team did wear them on a regular basis the whining by our fans was non stop about how ugly they were. I love Josh Norman's heart and desire. Who knows how it will work out but I know him and Breeland want to be the best.

Imma a lowkey feeling it.....I can sense the team coming together,,, the depth, the vets returning, the hopeful newcomers, the steady QB.....I do worry about fans get elevated expectations. Teams that last take time to build, I don't know if it is this year they reap what they are sowing, I just know that what they are sowing is surely going to improve the team...you can feel it. I felt it in 12, unfortunately we were derailed. I sense with Scot there is no derailing this train.
