glad to see the 91 team getting some love and much deserved respect

not sure if any of you have ever messed with whatifsports.com but you can do historical matchups with simulations, and it used to drive my college buddy mad that his 85 bears would continuously get beaten by the 91 skins in the simulations

That week 17 game against the Eagles, remains one of my favorite games of all time.

Eagles were a lot of fun to watch back then. Best defense I've ever seen and it's really not close. Offense was a mess. I think Tommy Tupa was throwing passes at one point.

It figures the Cowboys would win 1 game that year and it was against the best team of all time.

What a perfect season. I grew up in Philly and was always a fan of both teams (until Vick). 91 absolutely made me a lifer for the Skins.

That year there was a MNF game against the Eagles, played in good ol' RFK.

The Redskins defense played probably their most complete and best performance EVER in a game, holding the Eagles to under 100 TOTAL yards for the entire game !  That's the length of the football field. For the whole game. Amazing.

There was a play in particular, a false start by the Eagles, and the QB just half-assed  threw the ball and Darrell Green jumped up and snagged it outta the air, bringing the crowd to a loud cheer. Can't remember if it was Jim McMahon, but it was complete domination.

To pull off a feat like that is unheard of, but the 91' team was the most complete team ever, and if they didn't lax at the end and let Dallas win in week 13, this would have been the only team to go 19-0 without a doubt.

That Cowboys team made the playoffs.  I think they were 11-5 or 10-6.  Detroit smoked 'em in the playoffs, though.

I think we lost that last game against Philly when Gibbs pulled the starters after he realized they weren't going to get the record for fewest sacks allowed.

Ah, you're right. I was thinking a different game. East was Beast that year and it was right before the big Dallas run.

I think we only had given up 4 sacks all season, going into that game.

That game, to me, felt like the Eagles were giving us the last of what the NFCE had left to fight with and said "go crush them all for us".

Still though, that Eagles defense will always be the best to me. If they had a shred of offense, they would have gone far.

Yeah, not a fancy stat guy, but they said that defense is the Number 1 DVOA of all time.  Beating them is part of what made us the number 1 Super Bowl team ever.

The season opener against the Lions was the most dominating performance I've ever seen by a Redskin team.  Absolutely destroyed Detroit in every facet.  And to think, we'd face them again for a trip to the Super Bowl.

Funny story about that opener.  Was watching opening Sunday with a college buddy.  We were young and stupid and drank adult beverages all day watching 1pm, 4pm, and finally Skins Sunday night game.  In my less than coherent state, I made a proclamation that every time the Skins scored, I'd do a push-up for the number of points they have at that point, like the mascots would do.  I upheld the deal but by the end I was begging the Skins not to score again.  Haha.

It makes sense, though...the best to ever win a Super Bowl would probably win it in a rather easy fashion. Much like the worst team to ever lose a Super Bowl would probably be blown out lol...

Well according to CBS and Pete Prisco, the 84 Niners could beat the 91 Skins

Prisco doesn't know **** from wild honey.

Funny, but these so-called 'sports experts' spew when they hear the name Montana. Yes, Montana was a good QB, but he wasn't THAT good, or they would have been in the SB every year. They don't talk about when the giants drilled him into the ground, or when a weak Vikings team beat them in their own stadium; no, its all Montana, the best ever. Dah!

Same goes with Lott; he was a hard hitter but they never mention him being torched repeatedly, do they.

I suppose they could hang for awhile with the 91' Skins, but that all depends on how much Pam they got their hands on, and i'm not talking about Pam Oliver.

Skins lost about 90% of the time I tried it.

Yet we can't get 1 Redskins player on the Superbowl Golden team.

It's actually further testament to just how great that team was and how great of a coach Gibbs was that they won with a roster of players largely unheralded, especially when compared to other SB great teams and dynasties.
