Washington Redskins 2016 Mock Madness

OK, so looking through this list I am not impressed with most picks. All seems to have something missing, not what you want from a 1st rd pick. Not addressing every player, just the ones I have a stronger opinion about.

Raglund - I like Raglund but I just don't see him lasting to our pick.

Nkemdiche - I do not want this guy, I don't care what his talent is. He has off the field issues, which is why he is projected to fall out of the top 10. Also, I have seen him available in the 2nd rd. I personally would not want him there either.

J Reed - Looked closer thanks to johnsbass (thanks), and I agree he is just not 1st rd talent. To start with he looks like he is only a 2 down lineman. That's OK fro a 3rd or beyond, but not a 1st rd guy.

I do not like either WR or the CB. There just seems to be better, more complete players we could take at 21.

Kenny Clark - This is my favorite of the guys listed in this report. As the analysis says, this would give us a true NT that has the speed and agility to play the 0, 1, 3, or 5 technique. This really fits our desire to have flexibility to go in and out of the 3-4 and 4-3.

Andrew Billings - I could go with this pick. I don't like him as much as Clark but he should be a long term answer to NT and let Baker stay at DE where he is most disruptive.

Thoughts anyone?

IMO I don't think we should draft a WR until the later rounds. Ross and Grant are good receivers for our future and add depth. GOSKINS I like your analysis. I would love to have a good run defender because early in the season teams ran all over us. I can see a good corner drop in our laps. For Linebackers I thought we were pretty solid with Compton and Mason stepping up which is much needed depth. McCloughan drafted Scherff, Smith, Jones, and Crowder which all showed a lot of potential. So I'm excited on his gameplan this year and I feel confident that he is going to do his job correctly.

Nkemdiche - don't want him around either. So many other choices - why take one with known character issues?

Billings - I like. I would say that at 20 years old this is a bit of a crap shoot. Even if he doesn't start for a year or two he could be a guy that might lock down a spot for like another ten years. On the other hand; he is 20 so can he man up to the NFL level? Quite possibly could but maybe not. Clark is the 'safer' pick but that doesn't mean he is necessarily mean the better one. It'll be interesting.

Raglund - It's not completely out of the realm of chance that he could fall to the Skins @ 21. If he should that will be very interesting to see what transpires.

Once you get past the first or second CB's and Safeties the class is really pretty even so they can wait a couple of rounds and still get quality. If Fuller (WR) is the possible heir apparent to DeSean he could realistically be around in the 3rd. Scot likes big guys so maybe he'd pass and go for a bigger guy later? I don't know but wouldn't be surprised to see him take two WR's in the draft.

Need something at ILB to stop the run. To say the Skins didn't do well against RB's is an understatement.

Anyway, I'll bet Scot's book is pretty deep on every position and he may not see the position priority the same as we do. That's he's a GM and we're fans. :)

I agree with both Robert Mays and Luke Easterling. For a long time coming the Redskins have had holes in that Center piece. With Kory Lichtenstiger being transitioned from guard to center since the departure of Will Montgomery. I feel Kory Lichtenstiger is or was never the answer at center and Josh Leribeus? I'm just not sold. This years 2016 NFL draft is so in depth with the DE, CB and WR positions, I feel that the redskins number 21 pick of the draft will be either Center Nick Martin from Notre Dame or Ryan Kelly from Alabama. Whoever is available by the 21st pick. Not to mention that the redskins rushing attack in 2015 was booty due to the fact of a season ending injury to Kory Lichtenstiger and Josh Leribeus filling at center for the first time. Now no Alfred Morris this year? With a Nick Martin or Ryan Kelly, which let me remind you are consistent with opening up those running lanes, will hqave to come in and open up lanes and help the second year back out Matt Jones. With GM's Scot Mccloughan's comment about turning his 8 draft picks into a dozen, look for a lot of trades in the draft coming from the redskins board to acquire the depth and position they need to address.

Hail Scooba and welcome to Redskins.com!

I agree with most of what you said. The only difference is I really think one of either Kelly or Martin can be had in the 2nd round. Kelly is probably the better C but despite that I am a huge Nick Martin fan.

I would also add that losing KL hurt, but we also lost Shawn Lauvao just before that. Losing 2 starting Oline really hurt that line. Add to that we were bringing TEs in off the street, the run game just never recovered. Using Tom Compton was a simple sign to the opposing Ds that we were running. We ran over 70% of the time Compton was in. This is just one of the reasons I am really happy with the Vernon Davis signing. He at the end of his career, but can still block and is enough of a threat in the passing game Ds can't just sit on the run with him in the game.

Losing S.l. didn't hurt us IMO. I think he's serviceable at best. The future is with Spencer Long & I thought he did very well last year. Now we need to finish off the youth movement by drafting a C.

HTTR!!!

I don't disagree that Long is the future. But losing Shawn definitely hurt the run game last year. Especially when compounded by losing KL too.
