A man left a hoax explosive device at a mosque last week in Falls Church, Virginia, Fairfax County fire investigators say.

Chester H. Gore, 27, was charged with using a hoax explosive device on Thursday at the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center on Row Street, off Leesburg Pike.

Gore, who has no fixed address, caused an estimated $200 damage to a gate at the mosque, officials said. He was charged with using the device, possession and use of illegal fireworks, entering the property of another for the purpose of causing damage based on religious conviction, and destruction of property.

According to the mosque's outreach director, Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, an intruder tried to enter the iron fence around the mosque about 2 a.m. Thursday and threw two smoke bombs and a Molotov ****tail toward the building. Members of the mosque who live in the neighborhood saw him, confronted him and he left, Abdul-Malik said.

This past weekend, about a dozen members of a group calling itself the Bureau of American Islamic Relations protested in front of the Islamic Center of Irving,a local mosque. They had guns. They had a flag. They had a Ted Cruz sign and one that read “Stop the Islamization of America.”

“It’s a boiling pot,” one man who declined to give his name to Fox 4 news said. “The kettle … the top on this kettle is on really really tight and it is going to blow.”

A routine meeting about plans to build a mosque turned into an ugly racist display when at least two men stood up and started screaming insults at Muslims attending the meeting.

Samer Shalaby, a civil engineer and member of the Islamic Center of Fredericksburg, was discussing plans for the new worship center at a Spotsylvania County meeting, on property the Muslim community owns, WUSA9 reports.

knucklehead.

Sadly, there are people that think that every mosque (or religious center) is radical.

I wonder why that would be happening?

This might be my favorite story of 2015

Georgia 'patriot' plants real bombs and fake evidence trying to blame the Muslim community

Last November, Roswell police were alerted about an apparently abandoned backpack on an Atlanta-area walking trail. Among the contents of the backpack were homemade bombs, a copy of the Quran, an Atlanta Falcons schedule and directions to Atlanta's Jewish Community Center.

Over the weekend, authorities arrested Michael C. Sibley, of Roswell, Georgia, for attempting to damage or destroy by means of fire or explosive property owned by the United States. And why did he include the Quran and other fake evidence to implicate the Muslim community? Because he's a patriot:

I can't help but feel these type of events wouldn't be nearly as frequent if politicians weren't constantly stoking the flames.  Are the votes really worth it?  It's setting ourselves up for the next terroritst attack not being radical islamist against peaceful americans, but radical americans against peaceful islamist.

Ok, this really irks me. This wasn't a "racist" incident. Unless we are now classifying "Islam" as a race, this was more of a religious thing than a race thing. And the idiots at WUSA9 know that.

OK, now that I got that off my chest, **** ignorance. Carry on.

I agree, I feel the same way about when people consider Jewish as a race...it certainly is NOT.

a stupid thing to do, obviously.   but that mosque might well qualify as (or at least was) radical.  It was where Anwar al-Awlaki was headquartered, several of the 911 bombers, the fort hood shooter...

that place doesn't seem like one of the nice ones....

depends....Jewish or Judaism ,folk conflate the two(including some Jews)

there is clear support for a Jewish race if you adhere to the liberal definition of race.

I'm more old school, ain't but three or less. ....all are artificial constructs

It's racist because it's politically convenient. You can't fit it into the evil whiteness narrative if this is about religious discrimination.

Anwar Al-Awlaki didn't radicalize until after he left America. And that is in part because he was some bizzare sexual deviant. He was involved with escorts, the FBI was tailing him, and when he feared he would be exposed for being a whore preacher, he left the country.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/30/magazine/the-lessons-of-anwar-al-awlaki.html?_r=0

Awlaki did not tell his admiring younger brother what was in the file. But a document from the 9/11 Commission records at the National Archives, declassified at my request, shows that a few days after Ammar’s arrival, the manager of an escort service called Awlaki to warn him that he had been interviewed by Wade Ammerman, an F.B.I. agent, who had asked about the imam’s visits to prostitutes. It was clear from Ammerman’s questions that the F.B.I. knew everything.

Prior to 9/11, Dar al Hijra (being on Route 7 in Falls Church) was one of the more accessible, large mosques in the region. So I am not surprised by them having stopped in to worship.

Nidal Hassan appeared to radicalize after Alawki left the country. He attended Dar Al Hijra when Awlaki was the Imam there, but the evidence points to Alawki being a run of the mill, ambitious Imam, as opposed to a "kill the infidels" jihad spiritual leader he became in Yemen.
