Up in West Virginia this week. My mom asked me to look on the internet about a planned anti-islam protest at mosques this weekend.

What do you know, looks like they are protests for this friday and saturday.  Should be interesting.

Like the title for this article  and call to protest:

Protest away, it's a free country.  Hopefully, nothing stupid happens this weekend.

The evil troll side of me wishes Atheists or feminists would hijack this protest. Just because these people would die if their organization efforts ended up drawing larger numbers of groups they disagree with that gobbled up all their media coverage. I'm sure both groups could find something about Islam to gripe about and since all these Christian conservatives helpfully brought themselves along, they could protest them too. Two birds and all that.

I mean what could be crazy about a group of people who believe in virgin births arguing and protesting against a group of people who believe that a dude in a cave was actually writing down divine messages from the creator of the universe.

Just normal people doing normal things.

Man, we are gonna look like such douchebags in history books in the next 50 years, aren't we?

I dunno, people just keep getting douchier and doucheir it seems. Maybe we'll seem tame in 50 years. Like the same way we see old timey insults when we read them.

Now Joseph on the other hand...

Interestingly enough, in the older Egyptian "Tale of Two Brothers" story that the story of Joseph and Potiphar is thought to be based on, the younger brother castrates himself to prove to his older brother that he did not sleep with his brother's wife. The act results in his death and the older brother, realizing his ho of a wife had deceived him, has her put to death.

Joseph, on the other hand, ends up eventually marrying an Egyptian priestess named Asenath (a name which frustratingly seems at odds with prevailing theories of Joseph in Egypt during the Hyksos era). If you know anything about temple priestesses in the ancient near east, there's at least a possibility she was real freaky. ;)
