I really hope Rashad Ross makes it.  We liked him last year but couldn't hide him on the practice squad, so the Bears scooped him up.  He's looked good and seems really fast.

Any idea how many RB's and WR's we're going to keep?  I do like Trey Williams over Chris Thompson...but they both seem similar.

In my opinion we keep 4.  Morris, Jones, Thompson, and Young.  I think Williams will go to the practice squad.  Keep in mind, Thompson hasn't played a full season of football since he was in High School because of injuries.  I'm rooting against that, obviously, but it's likely Williams gets a shot at some point.

It's a weird year in that in some ways I'm more excited about who makes the practice squad than the roster. I don't know if that's really true, but I've seen a bunch of guys flash in the third and fourth quarter that I would hate to lose, but don't think are ready.

Bell, Ross, Trey, Dunbar, Bates, are just a few of the guys that I worry can't make the roster because of numbers, but really seem like guys you want to keep.

Does Nsekhe stand a chance of making it?

Somehow I can't see us keeping Long, Kuondjio, and LiRibeus.

I think LiRibeus is done. (EDIT:  We've since learned that Ribs is a lock... God save the Queen)

I REALLY like Nsehke, too... my only problem with him is he is 29 years old and he has missed a couple of next-level blocks.  He's been a wall in pass pro and has good technique off the ball in the run game, as well.

Those two things might keep him out.  Hopefully he gets a shot.  He seems like one of those "age is a number" cats.

I know we won't do this, but in some respects I'd cut Roberts to keep Ross.

For some reason I was thinking Spaight was already out....dunno why. Was he hurt?

I remember this pic of Martrell Spaight when he was drafted and people getting Laron Landry-like bro-boners:

WAPO's Mike Jones listed him as a lock for the 53 man roster this morning:

I think it might finally happen. The proof that we have turned the almighty corner. Kedric Golston will no longer be on our active roster. We've made it fellas. Only had to sign 3 FAs to do it.

I was talking to "Mr. DC Sports" dude on twitter about that yesterday

He looked up and said "I need to get a Golston jersey cause he is the longest tenured Redskin now".  I was like "Probably not the year to do that".

But yes... the measuring stick for MOST of us over the years with the defense has been if Golston is on the roster, we aren't there yet!

well, on person gets a one week reprieve because the first thing the Redskins do is:

Reserve-Suspended list

BASHAUD BREELAND

So they only have to drop twenty-one guys

So here's my cuts

DL

COREY CRAWFORD

KEDRIC GOLSTON

JERRELL POWE

TRAVIAN ROBERTSON

ROBERT THOMAS

Sign Thomas or Crawford to the practice squad

LB

SAGE HAROLD

DB

AKEEM DAVIS

QUINTON DUNBAR

DESHAZOR EVERETT

TRENTON ROBINSON

sign Dunbar to the PS

OL

TAKOBY COFIELD

TYLER LARSEN

TY NSEHKE

AUSTIN REITER

sign Cofield and Reiter to the practice squad

RB

MACK BROWN

JORDAN CAMPBELL

WR

REGGIE BELL

COLIN LOCKETT

EVAN SPENCER

sign Bell to the PS

TE

JE’RON HAMM

DJ WILLIAMS

sign Hamm to the PS.

Can't remember which one, but it was one of the CSN guys after the Ravens game said "he better watch his back".

If he's out there on Thursday you'll know what's up.

Sad cause Roberts has made some great catches and run some clean routes... but last years tape and even this preseason he's had some drops.

Akeem Davis is out for the Jags game.  Gotta think he gets cut, if he wasn't already in line to get cut.

FS - Goldson, TRobinson

SS - Nacho, JJohnson, KJarrett

Does Nsekhe stand a chance of making it?

I think he does.  I asked on another thread, but I saw that he is 29 years old with only one year of pro experience.  Anyone know the story on that?

I think Ross has a shot.  But will his play as a low on the depth chart WR be enough to overcome Spencer's work on ST?  I think we go with Spencer based on need.

Is Ross PS eligible?  I think Reiter, Everett, TWilliams, and TCofield are a nice group to start our PS with.

I think Spaight is safe.  Gotta get Jeffcoat some more reps, he's earned them.

Where in the world had JJohnson been?  Disappointed with that signing at this point.  He's listed on the two deep, but I would've thought he would have flashed more at this point.

.

that might be good for Davis.  With his past special teams efforts I can see them stashing him and giving him another shot next year

Someone talked about Long having played some at center in college. Not sure if he's taken any snaps with the 'skins though.

No they have him pushing Luavao right now at LG.

There is a method behind all that

EDIT:  Can't remember if he played C in college or not.

Long primarily played guard, but I think he played a little at center too. At least that's my fuzzy recollection.

It'd be cool if Long outdueled Luavao. I think he is a weakness on the line though maybe not as bad a one as I originally feared. I don't think I've seen Long play much with the starters though... is the plan for Long to replace him next year?

That could be one of the things gruden meant when saying scherff could play center if he needed too. It's not ideal, but long and him could if needed. Licht has had good success at staying healthy, safer gamble, but still a risk.

I think the only way Ross makes it, is if Roberts doesn't. He does have two speedsters in front of him though.

I have to wonder if tom Compton continues as a te/oline, possibly freeing up a spot for a 4th tackle (Nsehke?)

Speaking of TEs, it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. Hamm vs Williams vs Compton (and thus freeing up a spot). I think the latter, while also stashing Hamm, makes the most sense. But I have no idea about ST.

Is it Plummer vs Spaight? Or is there a chance they both make it? Or is it the two of them vs someone like Bates for 2 spots?

I have no doubt that Grant and Crowder could fill Robert's role(s), and I feel Ross brings something slightly different to the table (speed/deep game). Then there's Spencer with his size and ST ability (as opposed to return ability). It's a shame the biggest thing going for Robert's is his contract.
