Is the spinoff in any way based on a comic? I hope not. Sick of having to constantly try to avoid pseudo-spoilers with the main series.

No not based on a comic, so yeah we don't have to worry about spoilers mixed with comic story lines.

cant get enough of quality zombie tv... though I did watch z nation... which for some reason I stayed with despite it being pretty crappy.

Will def. give this a shot.

I don't get the silly stuff with zombie love stories and holding jobs as coroners... just give me a great zombie survival story and I am there.

I just hope enough people realize going in that this series is not going to be full of walkers from the get-go, and that it is showing things go from normal to ground zero.  I believe there was already a statement by the show runner that the big mass zombie outbreak won't likely come until the 2nd season.

Although some people whose tastes I usually align with tell me the female zombie coroner show (sounds/looks to me like some WB-style teen/adventure deal--is it WB? lol) is really good. I have a younger nerd stall in the old barn for the whole the Buffy/Smallville sort of thing.

Hmm. I may actually enjoy this for a season....

That's sort of how they're doing it in the Strain so far---all the adventures occurring in the 13 episodes of the first season are happening within days or a couple weeks at this point, though the matter is already scripted as going on for years longer (they have a story outline of 5 seasons and then an ending). A difference (going by what's being said about FTWD) being there's plenty of vamp action immediately and various small areas of the city are experiencing the invasion/plague to a more notable degree.

I don't remember if we have a thread for the Strain, and I tried to find one and didn't, so I'll put this link here for those who are interested.

I may have said it here before but I have this wish that FTWD would go the route of True Detective. Different story/location/cast every season.

The following a single group around thing has obviously been done with TWD. I feel like they could do a lot with showing whats happening during the outbreak in different parts of the country, with a different group of people every season.

Either way though, I'm excited. I'm ready for more Walkers in my life lol.

I want to like this, but that trailer didn't excite me at all. I just get the feeling like they'll be drawing the outbreak out too much, still giving it a shot. But like The Strain, I will sit on my couch and watch although I'm telling myself to delete this off my DVR schedule because this is the last episode I'm watching. Yeah....I'm still watching The Strain.

I did finally pull the plug on Hell on Wheels. Just couldn't do it anymore.

I'll give pretty much any TV show with monsters a shot.  Unless it's aimed at teens, because I'm not interested in the details of a monsters complicated sex life.  Also, I tend to avoid syfy originals because even I can't sit through something like Gorilla Shark Hurricane vs Mega Croctapus.

Point is, Walking Dead Next Generation or whatever the hell it's called meets my highly discriminating criteria.  I hope it's good or I'm going to have to vanish into my reading list for a while and my family seems to enjoy it more when I don't glare at them for speaking to me.

Z Nation is great.  It's adopted the cheesy, fun approach to the zombie apocalypse.  Love that show.

I think FTWD will be good, will be nice to get a prequel of when the **** went down.

I'm looking forward to FTWD. I'm going into it with an open mind.

Same here. I think they can do some good things with it, espeically without being tied to the comic arc.

It's not really necessary but I'm not complaining about it. I thought the trailer looked pretty good.

It will be interesting to see the walkers without half their bodies falling apart through 6months of decay. Could make them more formidable, at least initially

They wont most likely, but I kind of hope they reach out to other countries and we get some glimpse of it going on there too.

That could be neat depending on how they do it. Maybe just show a couple other countries on TV reports dealing with things. The realization that this is a worldwide issue. Could be cool.

They can't figure out too much though because nobody in Atlanta/GA area seemed to know what the hell was going on when and shortly after it all happened.
