A shocking new exposé, released this morning by The Center for Medical Progress, caught one of Planned Parenthood’s top executives describing how the organization sells the body parts of aborted fetuses for profit.

In the video, filmed July 25, 2014, actors posing as buyers from a human biologics company meet with Planned Parenthood's Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, who discusses selling the body parts of unborn children for “$30-$100 per specimen,” according to LifeNews. Over lunch, no less, she also states that the company uses illegal partial-birth abortion procedures in order to get parts good enough to sell and, yes, she is aware of the laws surrounding such practices.

Rest at link.

If this is true, this is huge.

However, there appear to be some real questions about whether it is accurate.   The film was shot over a year ago, and was heavily edited before release.   It was a two hour conversation and Planned Parenthood claims that it was about preserving tissue for medical research, and not about profit at all.

Here's what I found at snopes.

I expect this to blow up fast, and it will be a while before we have all the information.

"Shocking" my ass. Everyone knows what planned parenthood is about.

No, "everyone" doesn't.

You're right.

We can hope this video goes viral.

Assuming it is accurate.

It is already blowing up all over the conservative blogsphere.   After that message sets in, it will be too late to undo the damage if it is not accurate.   At least not among that circle.

My only hope is that the facts come out before this story blows up too big because knowing our media, the story will be sensationalized and minds will be made up so that once the facts do come out it won't even matter anymore.

Just like the Acorn "scandal."

Which one. The heavily edited one that appears to want to steer those seeing in to believing what the "investigation" supposedly uncovered? Or the unedited one that apparently leaves things a lot less certain,(to say the least).

Edit. Here's the statement from Planned Parenthood about the video.

Let's say they're not selling body parts for profit and they really are donating them to science. Let's even ignore changing the presentation to a breech delivery violating the partial birth abortion ban.

Do you think this may change the perception of what abortion is for alot people?

Yeah, I have to admit, that's what I thought of first.

Which might be prejudicing me against it. (Although I think that the notion of doctors discussing the sale of dead baby party with some strangers who walked in the door OUGHT to make EVERYBODY seriously skeptical).

Please, minds were made up when the link was clicked. We got ourselves an abortion thread... I'm personally reviewing breathing techniques before this thing gets going

Good job asking a thoughtful question.

I thought about this as well and in some ways it might, but I'm not sure those people, even if pro choice, would ever use an abortion service.

Sell them to whom and for what purpose?

I think you're missing the bigger point. I'll concede today I'm skeptical they are selling body parts for profit. (I would not be shocked, but I'll wait.)

What they are showing is that abortion ends a life. To hear the woman so meticulously talk about different strategies for killing the fetus as to not destroy the internal organs while sipping red wine and eating her salad is going to resonate in a lot of people much differently than than this debate ever has in the past.

And of course alot of people won't give 2 ****s.

If the strangers are dressed as high school drama class interpretations of a pimp and hooker, I'm sold.

Everyone knows abortion ends a pregnancy.

What you are saying is you don't care if the main allegations of the story are false, as long as it ramps up opposition to abortion.

Which is a refreshingly honest point of view, in one sense.

Don't ever go out drinking with ER workers, bro. You'll be scared to ever walk in a hospital again.

Actually, considering the bolded/underline portion of your statement, I'd say that its less likely that anyone is going to take any of this seriously, particularly a fair minded democrat or a moderate.  Nothing harms a message more in the theater of public opinion than having the disclosure come from one of the whacko ends of the political spectrum.

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought of as well.

Actors "posing as organ traffickers" supposedly getting a top level exec on tape saying something sick and self-incriminating raises red flags.  If it's a video of what really happened, unedited from start to finish, it's horrifying (haven't watched the video).  If it is an O'Keefe-like heavily edited video to the point of intentional misrepresentation...well, that would be less surprising.  It's all just a little too outlandish for anyone to reasonably take at face value.  I'll wait for more info to come out.

Planned Parenthood was always about social Darwinism/eugenics.

It is true that Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, was involved in the eugenics movement.   Many people were during the 1920s.   However, that was a long time ago, and hasn't been representative of Planned Parenthood for many many decades.

It certainly was uncomfortable to listen to. Not sure if I'd have felt that way before my wife and I had a child. Just listening to her talk about where she would crush and squaring that with the memory of our ultrasound visits made me feel sick.

Of course, all medical procedures are gristly.  As Redskins3D accurately said, this will have an emotional impact even if the main allegations are false.

Those of us who support abortion rights don't want to think about the procedures involved, just like those of us who eat meat don't want to watch a calf being butchered and made into hamburger.
