TSO
Welcome to the Redskins Evan... may you be that massive catching-radius WR we've always wanted! So you drafted Ohio State's Evan Spencer? adamyesme1111
Finally one of those "tall" Wrs people have always asked for since like 2005. I remember that 6'5" guy on the practice squad (I can't remember his name) who people always loved because he was tall lol.
posse87
To be fair, that was not a catch in the NFL....LOL!
Veretax
I hear Anthony "Mix" was tall.... That didn't last long though.
TSO
Updated OP with a video that might explain why he got so little action but was valued by Scot. QBs at Ohio State just completely miss him even when he gets wide open. He's a willing blocker and also makes a spectacular one-handed catch at the end of that video. Bacon
With those drops and excellent blocking, maybe he should beef up and play TE.
HigSkin
With those drops and excellent blocking, maybe he should beef up and play TE. With Pierre Garçon, DeSean Jackson, Roberts, Ryan Grant and newly added Crowder, I could definitely see this guy working as our "blocking" TE! Riggo-toni
Evan Spencer is not a football player's name. If only our FO had taken the time to read our thread on drafting based on name rather than need.
gortiz
look at this call ... Spencer was drafted in the 6th, 187 overall. So I'm saying Spencer goes higher than anyone expects. Send him to Seattle at pick No. 209, the 33rd pick of the sixth round. http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2015/04/what_will_ohio_state_wr_evan_s.html
Reverend Gonna Change
Scot really likes and values this guy. Maybe some of you should read up on our GM's track record with selections like this before pontificating.
Est.1974
Well it seems like Scot had him rated slightly higher than where he was picked....go figure.

Rocky21
To all those armchair GM's belly achin' about our draft picks. Check this out. http://www.csnwashington.com/redskinsblog/ohio-states-urban-meyer-lavish-praise-redskins-draft-pick :-)
Redskins Ruckus
This kid has the possibility of being pure gold.
SkinsNoles21
Love this guy. Urban Meyer said we got the steal of the draft. Reminds me of James Thrash somewhat. A do-everything WR who has plenty of ability to succeed in the passing game in time.
Renegade7
He may never put up Megatron numbers, but great teams also have great role players as well.
illone
So who will be the WRs that make the final roster? Pierre DeSean Grant Roberts *Crowder *Spencer Crowder definitely spells the end of Moss' run here in Washington, barring injury of course. Carrying 6 WR seems logical, although I do wonder about Andre Roberts role on the team moving fwd. I can't see him playing in the same type of role as last year (slot, KR/PR). I know a lot of fans think Spencer to the practice squad, but I think he makes the final 53. Comparisons to James Thrash are legit, but I think Spencer is a better pass catcher. gholmesbm
Since he's big and can block - how about a switch to TE? a la Niles Paul - he's also supposed to be a ST demon.
Laron Burgundy
Since he's big and can block - how about a switch to TE? a la Niles Paul - he's also supposed to be a ST demon. Paul was at least 20 pounds heavier. This kid looks like a st stud to me and I could see him being the future at wr after DeSean and Pierre are gone. DogofWar1
Yeah, it might be interesting to try and convert him to TE, but he's a little bit too small. No TE from this draft is under 240, while Spencer is 208. No TE from the draft is under 6-2, while Spencer is 6-1. Also, he runs a 4.45, which is nothing to scoff at, and even if we converted him at, say, 6-1 230, it's possible he'd lose a lot of that speed adding 22 pounds. Definitely best to keep him at WR for the time being. And there's got be value in a guy who can consistently be blocking 30 yards downfield, versus 5 to 10. Koolblue13
He is not a TE possibility. He's average WR size, maybe a little bulky. Maybe he's the next Hines Ward, maybe he doesn't make it through camp. I love this time of year. So hopeful.
