Chadwiko
Hey ES family What are peoples thoughts on this possibility; Alabama safety Landon Collins is widely predicted to be the first safety off the board during next week’s NFL Draft. A unanimous first-team All American, Collins impressed during his three seasons with the Crimson Tide with his versatility, physicality, and drive. And to make him an even more attractive option for Washington fans, Collins is a born and raised Redskin fan who has repeatedly gone out of his way to tell all that will listen that Sean Taylor is his hero. “I idolized Sean Taylor for his physical play, his passion for the game, you could see it every time he touched the field… and I like being physical in the box”, Collins told reporters at the NFL Combine earlier this year. As many people have pointed out though, with the Redskins picking at 5th overall it would seem unlikely that the Redskins are considering drafting Collins so early. One of the much-discussed options in play for Redskins General Manager Scot McCloughan at pick 5 is to trade down into the mid 1st round, which would put the Redskins squarely in the projected value of Landon Collins. However, one of the less discussed options is for McCloughan and the Redskins to trade up from the 2nd round. redrobert
Love to have a trade back scenario where we could get this guy and more picks...
Laron Burgundy
Maybe if he's there in the 2nd round.
mistertim
He is pretty much just going to be an in the box SS. He gets exposed pretty easily in coverage, which is where we need help. I don't think he is a fit for us. Pass.
Gibbs Hog Heaven
He is pretty much just going to be an in the box SS. He gets exposed pretty easily in coverage, which is where we need help. I don't think he is a fit for us. Pass. Absolutely. I like Collins less and less the more I look at him. A big thumper who get's BADLY exposed in coverage. Barely makes it into my top 5 safety's and he's well back on the top 4. Don't get the hype for him at the pro level. Hail.
Wildbunny
Yeah. I've been seeing fall come draft day. He moght be a candidate to fall like Jernnigan last year. Wouldn't surprise me at all.
Audible_Red40
If we had 7 first round picks, he would be my 7th choice.
BRAVEONTHEWARPATH93
He said Sean Taylor's name in an interview so now everyone wants him lol
Peregrine
If we had 3 first round picks, sure. But even if we traded back with say, Cleveland, Id use the 12th pick on a pass rusher, and the 19th on a OT. If he falls to the second round, maybe we can discuss, but Im not super high on him. Koolblue13
we have 4 safeties at SS who only play in the box. Why not a 5th? Nobody would be able to run on us, after they pass for 42 points, so we'd always have a shot late to come back.
SkinsGuy
He said Sean Taylor's name in an interview so now everyone wants him lol LOL! So true. It's nice that Collins did that, and that he is a Redskin fan. However, that isn't a reason to draft a player.
pjfootballer
Reminds me of Landry, but without the biceps.
Koolblue13
I'd rather Will for Williams or cry Fowl Play, if we don't get Fowler. Our D would be Beastly, if we could get Beasley. Fire up the Coupe and go draft Coop. Teams will be seeing Red, when they get beat by White. It'll be a shameis, if we don't draft Jameis.
TheGoodBits
LOL! So true. It's nice that Collins did that, and that he is a Redskin fan. However, that isn't a reason to draft a player. Didn't Phillip Thomas basically say the same stuff two years ago? We drafted him. Has worked out great. Not saying Collins is the same player by any means. I'd sit tight at 38 and if he's there he might be pretty good value.
ZRagone
If Collins falls to the 2nd, I'd be willing to consider him. That's about it.
HtownRocks111
This idea probably isn't very popular but I hope we trade the #5 pick to slide down to 11 or 12 to nab La'el Collins (RT) and pick up an aditional 3rd rounder (maybe even a 3rd in 2016 too)
