This news will make your day. Research conducted by the University of Alberta in Canada has found that health benefits in resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, are equivalent to those that we get from exercise.Red wine over a heavy session on the cross-trainer? Now that's something we can definitely get onboard with.According to lead researcher, Jason Dyck, these findings will help those unable to exercise as resveratrol was seen to improve physical performance, heart function and muscle strength."I think resveratrol could help patient populations who want to exercise but are physically incapable," he says. "Resveratrol could mimic exercise for them or improve the benefits of the modest amount of exercise that they can do." <rest at link> There have been so many threads that folks here argue about that I hope this one can bring EVERYONE together. Who wouldn't love to start now, and then in June (after toning up/losing weight), can simply tell folks - yeah, I just bought and drank LOTS of wine. Nice. Also, please don't burst my bubble with other so called "facts". I NEED to believe.

btfoom
Do you trust the information given to you by a guy named Dyck? In this case, YES. The only other way would be if the study said that drinking 6-8 beers and eating 1/2 a pepperoni and extra cheese pizza, along with exactly 5 chicken wings, would make me look like Bradley Cooper. Corcaigh
I'd rather have heart disease than have someone think I might be French. 'mericuh! Yeah - that title is misleading, even by Daily Mail remarkably low standards. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/heart-disease/in-depth/red-wine/art-20048281
