Destino
This year's Super Bowl between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots features teams with modernistic helmet logos. The uniforms are clean and well-designed, with great color schemes and look terrific in high-definition. But neither can match the flair and unintended gay sensibilities of Pat Patriot and Bucco Bruce, the two gayest logos in NFL history. Honorable mention goes to the Houston Oilers logo of the early 1960s. It's impossible to see anything like these ever making it out of a design competition today and more's the pity. http://www.outsports.com/2015/1/27/7919543/super-bowl-nfl-gay-logos-oilers-patriots-buccaneers Why am I posting this? Because this post on an SBNation site managed to get promoted on Yahoo and other SBNation sites. No one clicking that amazing headline, likely because of the seemingly offensive nature it presents at face value, seems to realize what they've stumbled on to. If you look in the top right however you'll see that it reads "Outsports: The galactic leader in gay sports". The person who wrote this is gay, he's said as much in the comment section. This is a gay sports blog written by a gay man giving his opinion on the very gayest NFL logos. The people in a rage and the anti-gay crowd showing up to celebrate their broken understanding of free speech and courage don't know that. They showed up with sides chosen ready for battle. Enjoy the comment section for lots of unintentional comedy.

pjfootballer
I actually prefer Pat Patriot logo to the current "computer generated Max Headroom" wannabe that adorns their ugly helmets now. Pat Patriot's face kind of looked like the Hulk. Yeah, Bucco Bruce was a little weird, but in a way it's like a cult classic. Oilers? They had the derrick tower. What the hell else could you use for "Oilers?" I know the secondary logo of the Roughneck looks a little weird, but it looks very "60s" in the drawing. I like the one comment: "I went to war to defend your right to say anything." "You fought King George?" Now THAT was funny.

PCS
Bucco Bruce was his real name and he adorned the Bucs' creamsicle-colored uniforms from 1976 to 1997. The hat, the porn-stache, the earring, the knife, the come-hither wink -- who could resist? He may look like a dandy, but Bruce is an S&M dream come true and would be right at home at IML or the Folsom Street Fair. Hands down the gayest logo in NFL -- and maybe pro sports -- history. A classic and he is badly missed.Since everything retro becomes cool again, we need to bring back Pat and Bruce. To really update tradition, they will get married, since Massachusetts and Florida allow for same-sex unions. Roughneck can be the best man. Now that's funny. s0crates
This is hysterical. As to the comments, I've noticed that bigots tend to have poor grammar. For example: "Well then don’t get offended when I common on how gay that son of yours is seating on his gay father. Does he know that you like other guys and that his mom was just a sperm bank to make your little gay son. Freedom of SPeach" I'll bet there is some correlation between illiteracy and bigotry. deejaydana
That original Tampa Bay logo was, well, in my youth I don't recall the guy actually winking. WTF!?!? the original Oilers logo is rad actually and the original Pats one just seems a bit cheesy.
Destino
I like this comment, this guy is trying to turn around what he perceives as gay bashing on the writer by calling him gay. Just Sayin' Look at the authors picture…tightly cropped hair, tight t shirt, close shaven face, knowing smile…sound like someone is crying to come out! Hahaha. Going Commando
The old bucs logo is awesome. Like Freddie Mercury in a pirate hat. Change it back and move the team to Key West.

The Sisko
I grew up in FL and the Bucs are my second team. As soon as I saw the title of the article I knew Bruce would win first place. We always used to joke about the gay pirate logo when I was a kid. When they changed it, it was actually kind of sad though. The Patriot guy was a bit of a surprise but I can see it. That said, I like that a hell of a lot more than their current one which absolutely sucks.
