Destino
Considered by some the best restaurant in the world, Noma has moved temporarily from its Copenhagen, Denmark, home to the Tokyo's Mandarin Oriental, in Japan. From January 9 to February 14, they will serve a new menu based on local products, completely different from its original menu. Check it out: The fixed menu at Noma, including wine pairing, costs 64,900 Yen ($550). The dishes change depending on what is available on the market. Here you have a few examples: Langoustine and ants Cuttlefish "soba" and a cold broth of roses Chilled cucumber and green strawberries, sake and basil flowers Roasted turnip in green sauce Sweet potato slow cooked in raw sugar Click for more examples of what $550 will get you at that amazing dining experience. Pretty much none of that looks like something I'd want to eat, at all, let alone pay $550 for the privilege of "enjoying".
Mr. Sinister
Meh, give me a succulent piece of pork, or a juicy steak, and a house salad... or some stirfry Never been a fan of the "Pretty" side of the culinary industry.
Destino
Meh, give me a succulent piece of pork, or a juicy steak, and a house salad... or some stirfry Never been a fan of the "Pretty" side of the culinary industry. I grade food like this. 70% does it taste good. 15% does it smell delicious. 10% when I learn what was in it do I want to throw up and/or physically harm the person that suggested that I eat it? 5% Does it look good. Also, I don't want to eat bugs. There has to be a line, that's one of my lines.
Kosher Ham
Never even heard of Green Strawberries. Hmm... I agree, that the menu otherwise does not seem that appetizing.
Bang
I think i'd be pretty unhappy if the menu on my day consisted of roasted turnip and a pretty cucumber. Cold broth of roses... wtf. ~Bang
