robotfire
We're probably all familiar with what Fletcher said about Haslett, but this thread isn't about that. This thread is about uncovering whether or not Haslett has a history of throwing coaches and players under the bus in order to save himself, as Fletcher suggested. Here are the obvious ones (please add any that you can find): Bacarri Rambo (according to Haslett) “It’s a shame because we gave him every opportunity. And I feel bad because we drafted him and thought he was going to pan into a good player, kind of like Keenan [Robinson] and Perry [Riley] and some of these guys we have drafted here that have panned into good football players. But it didn’t work out. I think the big play last week was the dagger." Rambo now plays for the Bills and recently got two picks off of Aaron Rodgers. Mike Shanahan (according to Fletcher) "Mike Shanahan recognized early that this guy does not know what he is doing. And he tried to help him out….And what does Jim Haslett do? He threw [shanahan] under the bus just like he throws everybody under the bus, players and coaches included." Obviously, Haslett's defense played a hand in Shanahan's poor record. Haslett claimed that Shanahan handcuffed him, and this apparently how he kept his job. Robert Henson (according to Henson) "gotta be honest big bro he has bad mouthed a lot of players and it ruined their career I can personally attest to that" Andre Carter? Andre Carter (to Henson): "amen to that."
Burgold
It's really hard to tell. One thing that is very sad about the 'skins is how few players seem to have really improved under Haslett and our defensive coaches. How much has Orakpo grown as a player since his rookie year? Why are we the only team who needs a top three draft pick at safety when everyone else is fielding mid rounders or undrafted free agents? This is the reason why I'm hesitant to condemn Allen. Is it that we have provided the coaches bad clay or that the coaches fail at molding?
TD_washingtonredskins
Is it too obvious to state that he's ruined his own career and reputation with this time in DC?
Burgold
Is it too obvious to state that he's ruined his own career and reputation with this time in DC? Nah, I think he had a chance here to resurrect his name and career, but I don't think he could have ruined it here.
Momma There Goes That Man
Well, who knows what Orakpo would ever have become with better coaching early in his career and a better scheme around him.
Burgold
Well, who knows what Orakpo would ever have become with better coaching early in his career and a better scheme around him. Double digit sack guys are a commodity. The fact that we could never groom him to the next level falls on the coaches and the players. The injuries were something neither are to blame for. Dirt
When the actual players that actually played for him are saying these things, I don't know why there is anything to discuss. As if the prodcution (or lack thereof) wasn't enough. This is 3 years too late. He just wings it with his play calling. He has no sense of situations. Just blitz whenever, go zone whenever, maybe man coverage sometimes. It's barely defense.
mcgraw238
I figure Snyder and Co. bring Haz back. Just seems like a Snyder thing to do.
HogHeaven84
I fully agree he needs to be fired, but it's not like he's ever had a whole lot of talent to work with in his time here. (Not defending him-but I feel it's at least noteworthy) I really hope he is fired...there's one problem though...what can they REALISTICALLY replace him with? If there's no one better...then what do you do?
Birdlives
If Haslett comes back I'll be finding better games to watch than the Redskins. Probably find better things to do on Sundays altogether. I'm not watching another season of playing 7 yards off on 3rd and 4, playing guys in positions they're clearly not suited for, playing as if we have talent that we don't. I'm basically at this point as well. Unfortunately Snyder suffers from tone deafness when it comes to running a football franchise.
TSO
It could be argued that any player who has come here has had his career ruined or, at the very least, negatively affected under Haslett. Out of the vets, maybe DHall was the only one who actually improved under Haslett... but I think that's more on Hall himself than Haslett. But even the young guys who have seemed to improve every year, like Kerrigan or Keenan Robinson... who knows how good they'd be under a better coach. Could easily see them being total studs that are known league-wide under a guy who can call a better game consistently. So I don't think it's going out on a limb to say even they've had their careers negatively affected.
Binton
I'm glad Breeland has only been here for a year which hopefully isn't long enough for Haslett to ruin him

I Love The Skins
The Skins don't need to fire Jim Haslett they can just decide not to renew his contract when it runs out at the end of the year.

Cooleyfan1993
He ruined mine and I don't even have a career.......... He ruined my brothers career. No joke. My brothers a bartender in Vermont and he got so angry during a game last season and he punched a hole in the wall and got fired. See? Career ruined Actually...that's not entirely true. He didn't get fired, but he did punch a hole in the wall
Gibbs Hog Heaven
Robert Henson's career wasn'r ruined by anyone but Robert Henson. Robert Henson had no career to speak of before working under Haslett and not a sniff of one since, Shanahan self destructed and tried to take the whole organisation down with him without help from the DC. 2 bad examples in the OP. Hail.
my_friend_goo
Actually...that's not entirely true. He didn't get fired, but he did punch a hole in the wallWalls, smh. Don't make 'em likes they used to.Far be it from me to defend Haslett, how exactly do we know he's responsible for ruining any of those careers? Rambo was forced into action due to necessity, earlier than he should have been. Gets two picks an a game? Good for him, doesn't mean he's now suddenly the player we needed him to be. Chris Horton got a game sealing interception once and look where he is now. Robert Henson....more than likely ruined his own career. Andre Carter career was briefly resurrected when he was brought in to play in our 4-3. It was Shanahan who forced the switch to a defence Carter had previously struggled in. That said, I heard it was Haslett who suggested Kevin Costner make Waterworld.

Hail. Let's make it 3. Everyone keeps looking at the one game that Rambo got 2 interceptions like all of a sudden he is a perennial pro-bowler. that we let get away. He had a good day and that's about it. He a few good days here too. Just not nearly enough of them. Not defending haslett. I cannot think of a single player that has gotten better under our D coaches that did't do it all on their own (Kerrigan, Riley, maybe Robinson). I think Fletcher has a lot more to do with K Robinson and Riley Jr being effective more so than Haz. Seriously Haslett has to go. Wade Phillips can show Haslett how to run a 3 4 defense. Wade Phillips can show Haslett how to run a 3 4 defense. Actually i was saying they got better more on their own than anything. I totally agree haslett had little if anything to do with them getting better. I am not sure there are many DCs I wouldn't take over Haslett. I do like Phillips, but anything more than a warm body would be an improvement.

Aireskoi
Well I'll take the chance to post in this disgusting useless thread to say that I'm grateful for what Jim Haslett tried to do for the Redskins. I know he didn't succeed, but I don't believe for 1 second he tried to do anything but his best. The players that he coached know what he did for them. The players he wasn't able to get to need to accept responsibility for their own lives. Blame, blame, blame, blame... "My life sucks cause my 7th grade math teacher was a bum." The best part is that the players that did well under Haz did it on their own, but the ones that failed did so because of Haz. LOL for the rest of the day. Thanks everyone.
