For Robert, there should be no off-season

I'm of the opinion that as soon as our season is officially over, RG3 needs to attend a passing camp like the Manning Academy or whatever for however long it takes. He needs a passing mentor like Brady had in QB guru Tom Martinez, someone to stay on him from winter to the start of mini-camps to work on his technique and fundamentals. He needs to suffer these next 2 games, then take 2-3 weeks off to rest/recover/unwind before hopping right back on the saddle all the way until Spring, and then be prepared to rip it up in camp.

Does anyone agree or is this asking too much of him?

Well, that is the only way he has a chance to win ANY QB competition against Kirk or Colt. He is so fundamentally flawed anything additional could only help, whether on this team or another. If he were a college QB coming out today, he would be undraftable. I guess the question is if he will actually listen to coaching is on him, I read a report which basically said until he looks at himself as the problem, he will not get better. Couldn't hurt, however, I am not on the RG3 bandwagon anymore, which I would gladly eat crow if he proves me wrong.

Yes.

I like the idea of him getting a mentor and just nonstop working all summer long.

Improve his fundamentals by doing just drop backs for an hour every day.

Improve his awareness by hiring Michael Strahan to ambush him randomly like Cato and Clouseau.

Improve him noticing open receivers by going out to the park every day and pegging anyone dressed in red.

Make him suffer.

Oh look, another Griffin thread.  Great.

I guess I don't get the hatred so many of you have.  The sad truth is that if all three of our QBs were coming out this year, none of them would be worthy of being drafted before the 4th or 5th round.

I just hope he isn't going to wait until camp for the 'Skins coaches to train him. If he does, he's finished. He needs to work his ass off from January all the way to Spring independently, like Tom Brady. If my employer told me that I needed to brush up on such and such skills, that's a hint for me to use my "free time" to take classes or do whatever to stay ahead of the curve. I'd be an idiot to think that my employer will train me during company hours or hold my hand.

unfortunately NFL CBA rules limit the amount of time a guy can work out with his coaches.  As to getting a mentor, he's worked with someone named Terry O'Shea, but Gruden actually cautioned against things like that saying tou can get to many voices in your head

Pretty sure he was talking about during the season.  IIRC, they (reporters) asked if Robert is, or was going to, work with a QB coach or fundamentals coach during the season, and Jay's response was that having too many voices in your head during the season can be a bad thing.  Again, that's just if I remember correctly.....

Show me one offseason where there weren't reports of RG3 working with people to improve.

Well, that is discouraging! If he is already doing it and regressing, big trouble.

And what Coaching camp will Gruden be attending?

Hail.

Every single one in the country, pee wee football and up! Couldn't hurt.

Yep. Same guy.  How is that Griffin's fault?  Your comment is that he needs to put in the time.  Its obvious that he's already doing that.  Just another hate thread.....

why is it that every thread which someone's says anything negative, you label them haters or how we hate RG3, etc, etc? Maybe, just a guess, we expect better QB play from a 2nd overall pick, especially into his 3rd year. My guess, if he would do nothing BUT focus on his flaws, his fundamentals, his improvement and stop the social media (to his credit, he admitted it had become a distraction and shut it down), he may actually get better and prove all of us "haters" wrong.

First of all, I never singled anyone out as a hater. I said it's a "hating thread", which is what every single Griffin thread turns into; hating versus defending. But when you say Griffin needs to do things that he's already doing, and still find more to complain about, it's hating (walk like a duck, quack like a duck, well you know the rest). Complaining for the sake of complaining. Nobody at this point in the game would refute the fact that Griffin needs to improve.

it's hard to improve when the rest of the team is playing much worse.   Whether he'd be playing as well if everyone was playing up to their 2012 standards is up for debate.  But we've stunk it up plenty of times when he wasn't on the field the last two season also, so it's hard to say he's dragging the team down.

see, I hope for things as a Redskins fan.  I'm not a football player, and I'm sure not anyone's boss so there's a real big limit on how much I "expect" from someone.

I think people who expect things tend to expect to much, and I think all this talk about his flaws and fundamentals overlooks how much time he's had to spend getting his body healthy and it overlooks a few other things.  Like football is a team sport and there's other people around him, and secondly that football is not universal.  Time spent of general things like flaws and fundamentals is time not spent working on detail things like the specifics of Jay Gruden's offense.

Whatever he is doing now is not effective so it really doesn't matter what he is or isn't doing, the question should be what will he do this off-season to help himself become a better player during the the upcoming regular season.

I know Robert works with our receivers and Terry Shea but even Shea said on 980 that there is no substitute for practicing the rhythm of the offense and he commented on how important the footwork can be.  You should go to 980's audio vault, click on "The Sports Fix", and then look for the 11-21 recording, you might learn something.  I sure did.

I think its a great idea for him to get some 3rd party help in the off-season.

How about if Griff finds a QB guru from the West Coast scheme that can help him timing up his drops, his footwork, his eyes, and to help him understand the concepts that he needs to master.  Then when he can work with Gruden again he can to continue to work on the things that are important to this team.

Maybe find a veteran WR that he can throw to that has played in this type of offense.  Someone to help him with matching up the drops with the route timing along with a QB coach.

Edit - RG3 can hire Jon Gruden, he doesn't work for the team!

I'm trying to make myself stop caring, because I can't do a damn thing about any of this ****, and this dumpster fire of a team is just wearing me out.

Bottom line is Robert isn't on track to be an NFL starter.  If he wants to internalize that and do the work to fix it, great.  If not, nobody can fix it for him.
