No jibber jabber about anything else.  Just analysis of what the eye in the sky tells us.

For those that don't have the access to the All 22, you can ask for requests of those that do, and for those that have it, you can help add content to the thread.

Also feel free to add in analysis from sites like Pro Football Focus.

Keep all comments objective - let's not pontificate, throw out unsubstantiated theories, no ranting.

Some good stuff from the Vikings game.  Definitely shows you the importance of timing and footwork in an offense.  Pocket presence and stuff like that.  Should also let you know that Jay Gruden is pretty good.

Count me out. I'm struggling to find any motivation to re-watch these disasters. If I was on the coaching staff, I'd wear down the reel trying to figure out wtf is wrong. But I'm not and don't have to subject myself to that.

 Jesus Dawg, you were my ace in the hole. I don't fault you for a sec.

For some reason, in the midst of this awful S-storm, I’m more motivated to see what the hell is going on.

That screen shot is epic, thanks DC9, that's what I'm talking about.

Here's a little tid bit from Pro Football Focus.

Guess which QB performance rates worse according to PFF Cousins weeks 5,6 or 7 or Griffin week 11?

Week 6, Cousins.

while not his fault, that first INT against Tampa could have been avoided ... Reed was wide open and should have been Roberts first read.

Week 6, Cousins.

PFF

Kirk Cousins Weeks 4,6 and 7 grades: -6.4, -6.5 and -2.7

Griffin Week 11: -2.3

You wouldn't think it would grade out that we if you judge by media/fan reaction though.

It's even worse with moving pictures.

What do you feel is so bad about this play? (other then the result)

Griffin wants to throw the pop pass to Reed immediately after the fake and he is looking that way the whole time. And my guess is that Reed is the first option because if the design was to start with Garcon on the flare/bubble route then the blocking would have been for a screen and not for drop back. Anyway Reed doesn't get his head up and around til the 5 yard mark and at the same time Garcon is open on a flare/bubble route but Griffin is waiting on Reed.

By the time Reed gets his head around and throttles down a Bucs ILB is jumping that passing lane.

Garcon is still open on the right but the unblocked "optioned" defender is in Griffin's face.

Griffin gets this defender to jump with a pump fake (nice poised play) and escapes the pocket.

Then on a dead run tries to throw to Paul without settling his feet and therefore throws a low off target pass (bad) to Paul.

Paul mishandles a poorly thrown albeit catchable ball into an interception.

this is pretty damning ... didn't realize 2 and 3, but the first play after rewatching, jumped out at me, totally missed Deshawn, and it's a perfect example of Gruden saying that Robert is not seeing the correct side of the field.

This is the winningest post of the day so far

So the pop pass is his favorite thing to throw.  Gruden led the game off with it to make him comfortable.  To get him into a rhythm.

But Grudes should try harder, ya know?

Is this going to turn into another bash Griffin thread where we pretend like Griffin is the only QB that misses some reads and misses some throws?

Its important to keep in mind how QBs/players are graded.

You don't not look at a few bad plays and make declarative statements.

Because you could do that for every QB in EVERY game?

I could post a breakdown where from literally ANY QB that shows them missing reads and missing throws even Peyton Manning.

If we're going to do this we have to enter with a spirit of objectivity.

GIF tells a different story ... Reed was not as open as the pic shows.

Should it have been a natural progression for Robert to go Pierre, being that his focus was already on the right side of the field? I know in real time it can not be that easy, just seems he could quickly dumped off to him.

It all goes back to footwork and timing.

The depth of your drop coincides with the depth or type of route the WRs run, which coincides with the depth the linemen take on their blocks and where they try to make the throwing lane for the play.

If you can't get the basic drop down, then we can't even get into reading the defense while dropping back or getting rid of the ball at the top of the drop.

Wait until we get some defensive pics up here.  I'ma murder me some linemen, brother.

Just adding a mystery science theatre 3000 feel to the thread.  Don't take everything as a personal shot.

What is the relevance of KC's numbers?

He was murdered on ES, Twitter, and everything else after all of those games lol.

By everyone.

Is that supposed to excuse RG3?

We all know KC sucked. In fact, sucked may be too nice a word

My guess is that yes the progression should go from Reed to Garcon but on some routes (slants, posts, drags) there are multiple  passing windows. Reed was breaking open in the second window past the Bucs ILB but by that time Griffin has to deal with the unblocked/optioned defender.

Imho that's type of indecision happens on plays where the QB is unsure and therefore doesn't execute quickly.

Think back to some of the quick play-action passes we've seen Griffin hit. And that is something that Jay himself mentioned..."....right now for whatever reason, those aren’t coming natural, and that’s on us as a staff. We have got to make sure we make it as natural for him as possible.”

Griffin gets a minus on the initial execution because I think he should come off Reed quicker and throw it to Garcon.

He gets a plus for his pump fake/evade.

He gets a minus for not setting his feet and throwing an inaccurate pass to Niles.

But I also don't like the play call.

You know I'm a direct person. If I thought it excused Griffin I would have said that.

The numbers provide perspective from a source (PFF) that the OP mentioned.

And lets not pretend the fan reaction on this board after the respective performances have been the same.

Dude, go look at the Kirk threads. The last 2 pages I'm sure are full of the same types of remarks that Griff is currently getting. I remember after the AZ game in particular, my entire Twitter TL was full of gifs/memes/tweets skewering Kirk (rightfully so).

Both Qbs were poor and they got understandable reactions. As I think you're a bit biased towards RG3 (that's not a shot at you cuz we all have biases), you perceive that RG3 gets it worse.

And let me preface all of this by saying I respect your football knowledge and you probably have forgotten more than I currently know lol
