Redskins have the number 5 pick, figured I'd just cut the rest of the OP out.  Thanks for following for the last six weeks.

*Previous Weeks*

To cut the OP down a bit, I'm just going to post our win-loss-tie record (based on how it helps our draft slot) for previous weeks.

Week 12 Record: 3-9-3

Week 13 Record: 6-5-5

Week 14 Record: 8-5-3

Week 15 Record: 6-6-4

Week 16 Record: Doesn't matter, we won a game

Higher the better! I think the 3rd or 4th overall pick would be nice. There's a good chance a stud will be there to draft. Also, that would mean we could also trade back a little and maybe get and extra 2nd and/or 3rd rounder to really accelerate the youth movement.

Nothing worse than winning when you don't want to win. Three years ago we beat the Giants in a meaningless win for us. It dropped us from like 4th to 6th or 3rd to 6th at the end of the year, which probably cost us a lot more in the RG3 trade. That one freakin win against the Giants.

If there were a way for Robert to start playing well while still losing, that would be ideal. If we could start to see some progress across the board, yet still lose, that would be ideal.

We'll probably finish 5-11 and draft 10th, of course.

I like the title.. but at the same time I'm going to accidentally click this thread about 200 times in the next few months. I move to change to a title that has less of a chance of accidental clicks (aka just drop comprehensive).

This is the same title I used for the Trent Williams draft, I believe.  Besides which, "The Draft Position Thread" would basically mean, here's a draft list, we're 6th.  You can get that anywhere.  Here, you get color coding, rooting interests, and analysis.  That's comprehensive!

Well if it worked to get Trent then I'm good with it. That's by far our best 1st rounder since Sean.

Even if the Skins end up with a top 3 pick I have zero faith in this teams' drafting ability.

They have the smallest scouting department in the entire NFL plus Bruce freaking Allen has final say.

When do pitchers and catchers report?

I think I have more faith in them if they get a top 5 pick in picking a good player by staying put. My fear is they will do what everybody always wants them to and trade down for more picks. I want to scrap that idea at least until they get a true football GM and a decent scouting department because it doesn't work out for the Redskins. I hope they just draft the best OL/DL available with their top 5 pick and not try and get cute, trading down has cost them some very good players over the past few years and although this team certainly needs quanity, I for one would rather go for quality right now. I'm tired of missing out on players like JJ Watt, Jordy Nelson, Calais Campbell, Robert Quinn & Joel Bitonio.   .

Yep. Once again, Redskins fans' interest in the NFL at this stage of the season is focused not on the teams battling for playoff slots but with our fellow sucky teams scrambling at the bottom of the standings. Yay?

Thanks for the work on the thread Forehead. It's something to keep an eye on, anyway...

Any good QB's in this draft b/c I am sick of the one we have now!!

Dual threats...Winston, Mariota, and trailing them, Brett Hundley at UCLA are probably your top options.  If you want a more traditional dropback passer, the only one I've heard consistently rave reviews about is Connor Cook at Michigan State.

I thought the real gem (Penn State homerism aside) was going to be in 2016, when Christian Hackenberg became draft eligible.  He has the size, the rocket arm, and if it wasn't for Winston, he would have been the name on everyone's lips as far as freshman QB's lighting things up last season.  He had Bill O'Brien coaching him and did incredible.

O'Brien left for the Texans.  Some of the O-line graduated, and senior starter got hurt.  Mirroring our experiences with our pro team in Washington, Hackenberg has been awful this season.  His line is a sieve, he's gotten hit, beaten up, and has gotten gun shy.  He's making bad decisions.  His stats this season are around 2,400 yards passing, 8 TD's, 14 INT's.  Not the stuff of a kid who scouts thought could contend for the #1 pick in 2016.  Part of it is the new O-coordinator insisting on a college-style offense that doesn't fit his skillset, etc, while O'Brien ran pro style.  Sound familiar?  Hackenberg may be damaged good now.  So who knows, I guess it depends on what sort of offense Gruden wants to run.  Dual threat?  There's plenty of options.  Dropback, far fewer.

On another note, I'll update tomorrow once the Monday night games have played.  If the Jets don't win, this will have been a waste of a week.

The idea the Skins should draft a QB next year is crazy.  Try to build a team.  Next year is the contract year of RG3 and Cousins.  If they both fail they walk away, we lose nothing, we probably have a high enough draft pick to get someone.  We draft someone next year, we throw the guy into typical Washington media/fan bull**** while limiting our ability to help him.

Well **** me.  I updated through Tampa and saved.  I then updated the rest of the teams and was working on the rooting interests for week 13 when I hit a button and lost it all.  Sigh....updates are in process.

Edit* Nevermind, I just opened a new window by accident.  Updates saved, though we are ongoing.
