Deadspin: Some Seahawks Players Think Russell Wilson Isn't Black Enough

Well, tell ya what, if the Seahawks decide that he isn't black enough, I hope our team decides to go get him.   I don't care what color his is, or isn't.  He's a damn fine player and seems to be a pretty stand up person.   What more can you really ask for from a player?

I still see people get made fun of for stuff like this. I think the worst is when african americans get told they are "talking white"

Agree. What exactly is "talking white" or do they mean proper English?

I have a great nephew who is bi-racial and he's 3.  My 2nd cousin also has a bi-racial son who is almost 4.  One thing that makes me sad is I see families who want ithe bi-racial child to side with one race or the other in identifying themselves.  I see kids with Russell Wilson's skintone (both our kids look similar to Russell's skin tone) but they want them to say they are black and to not even acknowledge their white heritage. I think that's wrong.

Both my neice and my cousin do a good job with them explaining the two different skin colors, because they are at that stage where they ask. Interesting story from a few weeks ago:

I was up there for the Seattle game and my Aunt and Uncle had the 4 year old (their great grandson) for the weekend and we went to dinner in LaPlata, at Ledos.  He was sitting in his booster seat and it got kind of quiet and then he said, "Gee-Gee, there are no black people in here."  We all almost spit out our drinks it was so funny.  But we did point out that there were black people in there, he just didn't see them. He's a trip.

Again, why can't bi-racial people be proud of both sides of their family? Why does it have to be one or the other?

Funny comments at bottom of the article:

JETS RECEIVING COACH: I know on your old team they may have done things differently, but here on the Jets, we have something called the One Drop Rule.

HARVIN: The what?

JETS RECEIVING COACH: If a receiver has only one drop per game, you rule.

I've gotten that one my whole life

Liking hockey, baseball, soccer, pro wrestling, alt music, and star wars will do that lol

But it feels good seeing someone other than Griff get skewered.

RW is pretty ****ing wack though. I remember when he went to that Nets game with Jay and Bey and dressed up like he was going to church lol. I mean Wilson makes RG3 look cool

But he hangs out with hippy hoppy stars, how could he not be black enough?
macklemore-and-russell-wilson-after-seah

Maybe it's because he has Seth Rogens hair.

I hope this post is sarcasm.

but is he a cornball brother though?

I guess I never really understand these types of problems.  People should do what makes them happy.  Who cares?

Good point!

So why would being/or not "black enough" change how they interact with RW? A black QB in the NFL is way more common now than say 20-25 years ago... but Honkys still have the majority. My point is... even if Black players can't identify with him on a personal level, I'm skeptical that it's having anymore effect on the locker room dynamics than how the Brothers in New Orleans identify with Drew Brees.

This sounds like unsubstantiated click bait, but if it is true I gotta go with Staubach and ABQC on this one.

That was sarcasm, but hip hops got a lot of corny these days. Can't turn on the radio these days without that cartoon character Nicki Minaj greeting you with something that sound like rated R Disney rap.
