Redskins Will Way To 19-17 Win Over Titans

Recommended Posts

Yea, the coach got smart -

Benched Cousins, he has flaws that need to be corrected in the pre-season, playing him in the regular season is not doing Cousins or the team a favor.

Replaced Polumbus, he has flaws that cannot be corrected.

Are we going to succeed, nobody knows but the coach demanding accountability is a start.

It is a win. Not sure I would call it a good win. At least Jay made some changes. Would have liked to see him stick with Compton at RT. Just let him play and see how it works.

I also hope they start McCoy next week. It's too early for RGIII and it's clear that Cousins is not the answer.

Lets see what other changes they make for this week.

Edit: Not that it matters to anyone but me, this was my official 1,000th post!

It was a good win, may have been a little ugly, but a good win. When you are 1-5 and playing a 2-5 team and get a win, go ahead and feel good about it because if we lost our season would be all about stinking it up for draft position. There was some nice highlights to the game, DJax continues to be the long ball threat, Garcon found someone who would throw to him, Reed continues to get yardage after contact, both Comptons are getting playing time, D Young is teaching would be tacklers that he will wreck their carrer if they tackle him high. Much more, I thoroughly enjoyed the game outside of Cousins first half performance.

I've got to eat some pie...of the humble flavor. I have to admit that Colt looked as comfortable as any QB the Redskins have put on the field this year and I congratulate him on being the reason the Redskins won the game. I've never hid the fact that I didn't think that CM was ever going to be a good, or even serviceable QB in the NFL but he did step into a bad situation, took control and won the game so my hat's off to him. I give him the credit for winning the game simply because I don't believe they could have won with Kirk throwing to the wrong color jerseys! I think our friend Sammy might be a little over-happy but it was nice to watch our team win a game. Goskins, congrats on your 1000th post....you are a true die hard Skins fan and we all know that isn't very easy, most of the time!

I was laughing when, near the end of the game Trent was getting a little chippy and little Colt was trying to get them to stop pushing and then called "huddle" to help break it up. He was right to do it as a penalty could have cost the game at that point. So now we wonder, who will start next week? IF I were the coach, I'd be "sleepless in DC" because I sure wouldn't want to put Kirk back out there (who was he looking at when he threw that pick?) and I agree with TAB that RG prob isn't ready to return.....so do you put Colt out there? He's earned it.....but do you risk it? I suppose he can't do worse then throwing into the numbers of the opposing player (2 weeks in a row).

With a strong running game(which it seems that Gruden prefers Helu over Morris) and a good defense(we are working on that.) all you need is a game managing qb. I like Colt I was always did. He is a winner from back in college days who was put on a terrible team(Browns) and was unable to turn it around. I was hoping Kirk could turn it around but Gruden wants too much out his QB. We don't have that talent at this time. SO manage the game. Ask your QB not to lose the game for you which I think Colt did. I know with this terrible defense it's hard to just manage games but you need to work with what we got. Colt could be a serviceable starter with the amazing wideouts we have. Dump it off to them and let them work for their money. It was a win and that makes me happy.

Hail Man - Can't quite figure you out my friend. When I was glad about the Jax win, finally beating a bad team badly, you kind of took me to task for being too happy about it. Now we just barley beat a really bad football team with Charlie Whitehearst at QB, who we tried to make look like Peyton Manning, and clearly having no running game, yet again! and you call it a "good win".

I agree there were some bright spots, and I guess you could say any win is a good win, but I am just not there. We still have huge holes on this team, holes that will be hugely exploited by our archnemisis (bad sp) dallast!

We need to do what dallast has done, find our running game and in a hurry. People say AM is struggling because of no RGIII run threat. While that may be slightly true, I think it's more because we have no passing game to be afraid of. That started to appear the last half of last season. Our passing game was erratic. RGIII did OK, but he was not as confident as he was in 2012.

Maybe this will mark a turn around. I hope so. Beating dallast in dallas would be a much bigger step in the right direction. Lets hope we beat them. No moral victories.

Colt and RG3 are mobile and both can throw on the run. Gruden needs another fix next week to adjust his O style to accommodate the mobile QB. That along with a passing threat will get the run back.

The other thing Gruden needs to fix next week is to get the pass rush back. I know he had to cover for the excessive DB injuries, but it is time to move forward with what we have.

I still like this week's win and I am ready to move on to beating Dallas.

Ok another win against a bad team. We should win these. But going against a good team like dallast and we will see where we are at. I believe that Colt should get the start. Reason being that once you bench your starter you sent him a message that there is no faith in him.

Now the run game is horrible, don't care if we run right left or up the middle, our line seems to wear down after half time. Put Compton in at right guard and go with it.

Last thing is who is teaching Arackpo how to tackle. Third pectoral injury, come on!!

An ugly win is better than a pretty loss, no doubt. & I am thankful for this win, but I'm not getting too excited about it. Our O-line is a P.O.S. & we're now working on our 3rd QB in the last 7 games not to mention our HC seems to prefer the pass & has pretty much abandoned the run. Of the 9 games left realistically we'll probably lose 6 of them. The 3 that we might win are against Minn, TB & St. Louis although these aren't "gimmi" games. Our D is giving up 26 ppg. Opponents are converting 42% on 3rd downs. All of this while STILL leading the league in penalties (66) & ranking 2nd in penalty yards (519).

On 2nd thought....maybe I should get excited about this win, we may not get another one.

HAIL ACWORTH SKINS FAN!

You said...."Put Compton in at right guard and go with it."

If you put Compton at RG who plays RT? I don't know about you but I'm SICK & TIRED of Polumbus getting beat more than a cheap hooker! If we're not going to give Mosses reps at RT then I'd rather have Compton there.

HTTR!!!

I agree. Let's put Compton in at RT. Get Polumbus out of there. You just never know, Chesters game may improve not having to pull Polumbus weight around!

Hail CFL....If Polumbus gets "beat more than a cheap hooker", does that qualify him for Domestic Abuse protection since he's the one being beat? In all seriousness, I agree 100%

No, Moses is learning but has a ways to go to get his speed up. He's strong, but gets blown by at this point.

Even if Moses isn't ready for prime time I think he has to have snaps so he will get ready. I think you fellas also think that and were only talking about starting.

We've seen the last of Orakpo in a Redskin's uniform. Trent Murphy has a large task at hand playing a whole game, we need what he was drafted for which is a pass rusher. Come on big fella show us what a 2nd rd pick plays like and especially one who led the college ranks in sacks.

Goskins- what do you want me to say? Saying it is a good win is not the same as getting all giddy about the Jags win. Boy, I must have chaffed you with that comment, don't be upset, let it go, it's only football talk and not a challenge.

All wins are good, all losses are bad. Personally I really enjoy the wins, especially when they are long in coming.

The good thing about the last game was that Gruden made changes - McCoy and Compton. He appeared to have been reluctant to take on this Head Coach responsibility in the past, so maybe we are at a positive juncture.

I an all for the changes and hope he continues with the installation of a mistake free discipline and adaptation of his O to take advantage of the mobility and ability to pass on the run of both McCoy and RG3. The former will reduce the beat yourself posture and the latter will not only improve the passing game but will open up the run by stopping the Ds from stacking 8 people on the line.

Nobody cares how, just how many.

End of the day, that's really what it comes down.

Backup QB's seem to do really well for a game or two then go into fail mode. Cousins is the same QB as he was at the end of last year and that was not too good. Nice to see some swapping in some other guys - been beating this dead horse for awhile.

Time to draft a high end QB. First round high level.

RG III - anybody think he will ever finish a season?
Maybe (for once) plan ahead and realalize that this is something to be accounted for rather than waiting for the last second and realizing you have absolutely no options.

Doesn't mean Robert is fired. But are you going to exercise that fifth year option on a guy who can't make it through a season? I would not. Orakpo can't stay on the field probably time to part ways. Like next year with Griffin if he gets another incomplete. Time to bring in a quality QB that can compete at the position and be ready perhaps sooner than later.

Cry about injuries if it makes you feel better but the Dallas D was devastated this year. They seem to be doing OK.

Johns- I agree with your questioning of Griffin, sure doesn't seem that players once seriously hurt ever stop being hurt. Instead of a high draft pickon a qb can we just get a right tackle, a safety, outside linebacker? Build the team strong and then get your qb. Damn I sound like polo! As argumentative as he was some of his points are now realized either through chance or his acute acumen.

Rak should be gone next year. With him gone it should free up 10 million to help with the offensive line. The QB situation could be settled with a new rt an rg. If you remember Rypin got sacked what?, 10 or 12 times one season and he was the savior. Alfred Morris isn't getting any help with this line. If you give a QB 4 or 5 seconds to throw he should pick any defense apart.

Johns- Injuries are bad, but with decent depth you should be able to over come.
