Eh.

I'd love to see what he can do on the other side... Same can be said for Rak, too. But we don't move them around. Which baffles me. Oh well.

kinda like murph....  but i digress....   kerrigan is a stud, at least to me... next year will be a contract year since we picked up his option.... and as i know you know, good 3-4 olb's are pricey, unless we go a high pick on one.... so, imho, 8-9m per year is nothing for one....  and to think what rak wanted and will probably still want, he'll be a bargain, IF.. and it's a big IF he wants to stick around.... not many FA's will want to come here simply because of ... well.. how do i say this nicely...  franchise ineptitude?

It'd never happen but I'd love to find out what New England would offer for him right now.

To me, it's just the wrong time for him. He's a great player and I think any concerns over character can be put to rest.

I'd go for a 2016 1st actually...

         I know that it is way to early and who knows what our cap space will be and all of that and which players might be franchised or resigned by other teams but right now based on our needs for fun I would like these 5 players;

!.  Tramon Williams CB

2. Joe Barksdale  OT

3. Clint Boling  OG

4. Stefan Wisnnewski C

5. Rahim Moore  SS

Hopefully draft a stud DE or DT with high first round pick and a stud FS at the top of the second round. All wishful thinking I'm sure.

I don't think we can put the character questions to rest.

But that's not why I say look at his trade value. We are spending too much on WRs and need draft picks.

Beyond that, he's signed for two more years and it would be a bad idea, imo, to re-sign him. He's a guy who I don't expect to age real well and you will need to be give him huge money. So you're kind of looking at keeping him for two years, the first of which, at least, is a year where we probably won't be all that good.

It doesn't matter if they're FA at the same time. It matters that we have the cash to keep them or not. And decisions start to come sooner rather than later. No matter when they're FA you have to find a way to fit them all under the cap.

the cap is jumping a lot in the next few years and the skins have little money tied up

OK here are some guys I'd like to see brought Back, who are on the current roster:

Greg Ducre - CB - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/gregory-ducre?id=2550004

Jackson Jeffcoat - OLB - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/jackson-jeffcoat?id=2543660

Duke Ihenacho - SS - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/duke-ihenacho?id=2532868

Some guys I'd like brought in to compete in training camp:

John Simon - OLB - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/john-simon?id=2539280

Cam Johnson - OLB - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/cam-johnson?id=2533452

Scott Solomon - OLB - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/scott-solomon?id=2532951

Bradley McDougald - S - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/bradley-mcdougald?id=2539243

Jamell Fleming - CB - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/jamell-fleming?id=2532839

Xavier Nixon - RT - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/xavier-nixon?id=2539222

Senio Kelemete - G - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/senio-kelemete?id=2532889

Alameda Ta'amu - DT - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/alameda-taamu?id=2532955

Devon Still - DT - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/devon-still?id=2532954

Terrell Manning - ILB - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/profiles/terrell-manning?id=2533055

That's just a look at some guys from the past few drafts that'll be available in the upcoming offseason. They're all young so they could be our own development projects (ala Baker) and we should be able to get them on cheap contracts so if they don't work out, its no harm no foul. I figure we're going to be attempting to get draft picks in - I'll assume about 10, and probably about 15 or so UDFAs. So if we keep all the guys we currently have under roster and practice squad (we won't), signing a bunch of the guys I want would put us right at the roster limit.

But I don't know much about these guys other than what nfl.com 's draft site has put up on them and a few I've studied before (jeffcoat, Ihenacho, Nixon), but the overall strategy I want is more Bakers, less Lauvao's. I don't mind having to develop them. In fact I WANT us to develop them - that way the coaches get their money. And if we're developing guys it makes it easier to have open roster competitions. There will not be a "seniority" thing because we'll have a third year player against a second year player. I'm using nfl.com's draft grades because I don't have an extensive DB of my own, but I suppose that Campbell has his own draft profile and I'd like for him to be bringing in a bunch of guys like the ones I have but just that correlate to his rankings.

If you ask me today, right this minute?

I'm keeping Trent Williams and Ryan Kerrigan.

I'm on the fence about Chris Baker, Ryan Grant, Jordan Reed and Bashaud Brieland.

But I'm CONVINCED that 71 and 91 can and WANT to play football.

I swesr I was thinking about those very exact players. Great minds my friend. Great minds.

I'd be on board with trying to move Garcon.  Call me crazy, but I'd like to try to keep DJax.

You're not crazy. Jackson is the best true playmaker/home run threat any time the ball is in his hands player the Redskins have had since I don't know when. Maybe back to Clark, Sanders, Joe Washington days.

I think we'd woefully regret moving Garcon (not that I think it would happen). Garcon is actually helping to open Jackson a bit. Teams have to account for Garcon. He's a big bodied receiver who can catch the ball in traffic, make someone miss and get a ton of YAC. Garcon is a possession receiver. Teams have decided to take him away. As a result, Jackson has had an incredible impact. They compliment each other quite well. And Roberts is a very nice addition in the slot.

I do have a problem with the total cost we've allotted to wide receiver. It's way too much considering our offensive line needs significant upgrading.

Still, I have a hard time coming to the conclusion that Garcon is the one who needs to be moved (and for the record, I'm not sure moving any of them is realistic at this point).

Moore is a FS and would be a real smart buy imo.

The rest of that list to me is exactly how you don't do FA. We need help on the OLine, so you're throwing all kinds of money at it. But Wisniewski is the best player you're signing, by far, and he'll cost a ton, while it's a position that Lichtensteiger is already doing a really good job there. So maybe 8 mil (?) for a marginal upgrade. Barksdale is decent, not great and Boling is really JAG.  That's a lot of money but  the line still isn't that much better.

And Williams would be an expensive 32 year old CB. Bad place to spend money.

We wait all year for the return of football and are talking about 2015 season on October 13th. God damn that's depressing. I don't care what happens as long as Rex Ryan or Wade Phillips is the defensive coordinator and a couple other things happen. I'd offer Orakpo 6-7 million a year and if he doesn't take it he is gone. I'd draft offensive line first and second round and hope we can address the secondary through free agency. Maybe even grab another quality FA o lineman. But not what this FO considers quality, how we pretty much bid against ourselves for Lauvao on opening day of free agency is just a typical move. Bottom line though, our top 3 draft choices (1st round choice goes RG or RT regardless) and top 3 free agency signings should be offense line and secondary. I think O line is by far the bigger need though because a top offense can mask an average defense with holes by ball control and scoring. By some miracle try and improve special teams to at least be an NFL quality unit but I dont even know how to address that. I'd also try and see if Hall can move to safety.

That's business as usual when it comes to this team.  Pay guys top dollar and they under perform.   Don't draft well enough and there's no depth at key positions.  Until they wise up, this will be the norm and they'll continue be in the basement every year.

If we suck monkey balls and finish 3-13 don't be surprised if March 2015 is one of those Vinnyesque big FA signing years. While it makes sense to blow it up and start over that doesn't happen on Dan Snyders Watch.

I heard SUH is on the FA list!!! Fire Up Redskins One!!!

"Suh’s current contract, which expires after this season, counts about $22.4 million against this year’s salary cap. So to franchise him next spring, the Lions would have to give him a one-year deal at a 20 percent raise, or about $26.9 million. As a comparison, the second-highest cap hit for any defensive tackle in 2014 is Haloti Ngata of the Baltimore Ravens at $16 million."

what about Nate Allen of the Eagles?  I always like it when you can improve yourselves and hurt your rivals at the same time

Shanahan to his credit was good at signing younger guys. That's just the smart way to do FA. And there were some nice 25-26 year old FAs we could have had last year but we took the approach we did.

I don't know if I'm the only one noticing, but Lichtensteiger is having a really good season. The move to C is working. I want him to be part of the future.

You, in fact, are not the only one.
