codeorama
Ok, I teach world history. I'm planning on creating an ebook/study guide for my students. Obviously, I can't just fly to Stonehenge and take my own photos (along with Greece, Rome, China, India etc...) I understand you cannot just use images from the internet. Any suggestions? Corcaigh
The images on Wikimedia commons are typically free for non-commercial use. You may need to provide attribution. Getty Images also has a huge free library for online use.
Stugein
Pictures like this? http://www.publicdomainpictures.net/ has hundreds of free public use pictures you can download. They won't have everything but they're a good start.

Elessar78
Here's a decent write-up on copyrights and fair use: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/copyright-fair-use-and-how-it-works-for-online-images/ Since you're using it for a small run, not for sale, educational study guide I don't believe the owner will go after you. The worst you may get is a cease and desist. Just make sure you give it proper attribution But I believe most people will not mind your using if you ask for permission.
