Redskins Set Sights On Seahawks

Recommended Posts

Well, they have a little extra time to try and sort some of this mess out.

Seahawks also have extra time coming off a bye. Although, teams don't necessarily feel at ease playing a team that just got humiliated on a road game. Still, Skins are not showing anything to instill fear.

Hey, at least they can beat the Jags.

Injuries are mounting up, time for some guys to show up and at least make a positive impression.

All 3 losses were a result of excessive mistakes - blocked punt run in for a TD, blocked FGs, missed easy FGs, kickoff runbacks for a TD, excessive penalties, excessive interceptions, fumbles at crucial times, etc.. Excessive mistakes are a result of an absence of discipline instilled up and down the chain by the head coach. While I think Gruden is a good O Coordinator he is obviously not ready for head coach;  it will take time for him to master those skills.

Winning 1 out of 4 is not good sign that this year will be any better than last. I no longer enjoy 3-13 records anymore so adios to you folks and the Redskins for this year. However, I am still a Redskin fan and will return next year when hope once again reins supreme.

It's painful guys, I am right there with you. Let's get some guys healed and see how it turns around, if indeed it will turn around. Hard to play with so many guys out. Maybe the really good players on the team were carrying Gruden, he surely taking his lumps now but I still have a gut feeling that he's no nonsense, tell you straight type guy that will learn to coach and manage a whole team.

Injuries happen - other guys have to step up.

Hating to admit this for obvious reasons but the Cowboys Defense should be dead last in any category you can think of with all of their injuries but they have managed to piece together a decent one all things considered. Not great but decent.

Last time GB went to the Super Bowl they had so many injuries that they were written off from even making the playoffs half way through the season. Other guys stepped up.

Not saying the skins are going to have a turnaround to get any better than the .500 team that many of us thought they would be but toss guys out there and see if they can earn a job. Redskins have a habit of setting their priority of who starts based on salary vs ability. They don't know what they have cause they aren't on the field. Put 'em out there anyway and see what they got. See what they can learn. It's pretty hard to give up more than 45 points. They gave up 37 to the Eagles and their offense was literally not even on the field in the 1st quarter.

Teams like Seattle and the Pats will part ways with anyone if somebody else shows up that can play better. And it isn't for cap space - they both have plenty of it even after major signings. Oh, the guy went somewhere else and is still a good player. Good for him - you improved and that is what matters most.

What have they got to lose? Their dignity? They lost that Thursday nite. Losing to a team by 31 points to team they really should have handled pretty easily and did it at home. I could have understood a score like that against the Eagles but not the flippin' GMen.

Coaching was horrendous. Giving up 300 yards to Eli Manning - he hasn't done that in almost a year. It took till halftime to figure out that a 6 foot safety is no match for a 6' 6" TE - after 3 TDs. TEs get covered by LBs, especially when they are torching you. I get that they were playing from behind but it was actually close enough for awhile. Your QB is forcing balls and tossing up Int's. But don't do what you do best - run. 17 runs - the whole team. They panicked; like they did against Houston.

Turnovers - well too many and leave at that. Especially at crucial times. Like inside the 5 yard line. Penalties - 11 again. Oh the officials are calling that many on everyone. Like 7 for the Giants. At least the yards are down but again at crucial times wiping out some nice plays. Guess who leads the league in penalties? Stop with the excuses and clean it up. Again a fail by coaching to identify and correct problems. Teams with the fewest have 12 - all season. Yeah they've played one less game but really. Skins have 39 - it ain't all officiating.

OK, ending the rant with a post game quote by Meriweather. "We did tackle well." You know, this is why there are such strict protocols about helmet-to-helmet contact.

OK, had a little time to calm down, and I am still pissed as hell!!!

How does Jim Haslett have a job????   I could care less about the injuries!  It's part of the game!  You need to coach the younger guys up and they need to be ready to step in! Period! Eli Manning looked like Peyton Manning on us!!   But everyone looks like that against us!!   The secret is out how to beat Jim Hasletts defense!!   I was willing to see how he does since they all worked together and had some success. But it's just more of the same!!  Fire the idiot already!!   lets move on from this debacle and get a coach that can coach!

Someone else already said it, but Jay needs to give up the play calling to Sean. Dude panics and totally forgets we have one of the best RBs in football!!  Run the ****ing ball!!!!  And STs are again a laughing stock. How do we manage to have the worst and quite frankly dumbest STs players in the league????  We seem to have the market cornered!

This season is gone. Please spare me the its only game 4. We are as good as 1-5 right now. No way we beat seattle even at home and arizona will kill us. IMO they are one of the top 5 teams in football. So My solution for right now:

Fire Jim Haslett!!  Now!! Yesterday!! Immediately!  Get his non coaching ass out of Washington!  Pay him off and tell him to move to CA! Sit Rak. He is useless and will not be here next year. Let Murphy get all the play he can. Release Merriweather, now!  Yesterday!  Pick up the best person remaining and live with who you have. Play a lot of 3 or 4 DBs with 1 S. Ryan Clark with Akeen Davis and Trenton Robinson getting some snaps in standard sets sparingly.

remove play calling from Jay. Give it to Sean and make him a real OC. Bench Chester and Polumbus. Put Spencer and Morgan in. Live with it! Play Cousins unless he gets injured. Sit RGIII until next year. Give him time to heal. Change game plans to 60% runs!  Live with the result! If any of the WRs complain, release them! And that includes garçon or DJax or anyone. Show them the door! Move Silas Redd to #2 and have him split carries with AM. this is to keep AM fresh, take some wear and tear off in case we get good next year. release Niles Paul on injury settlement. Sign the top 2 TEs on the market, even if they are scrubs. They are just bodies this year.

Release Kai now! Sign Hocker. Maybe we can get something out of our KOs. Anyone who misses more than one assignment on STs to be released! Sign another body!

Start building through the draft next year. A good start would be to trading our #1 to get more picks.

Look, if we want to get good we need a new mind set. We can't just keep making minor changes, limping along and hope to get better. We need to make some major moves.

OK, rant over for now.

I get how you fellas are feeling. I've been feeling like that for quite a while now. & to be honest this shouldn't come as any surprise to any of us. It's always like this for us. If it's not 1 thing with the Redskins, it's another. The team is destined to be bottom dwellers. The rare winning streak or even more rare division title is just to keep the natives happy, it's really not a true sign of talent, it's just to keep us coming back asking for more like the suckers we are. But it never happens. You guys want to blame Snyder, fine, but what more can the guy do? No, it's not Snyder's fault. It goes beyond Danny boy. It comes down to the fact that we're cursed. Plain & simple. But hey...that's just the way it is being a Redskins fan. Suck it up buttercup there's plenty more where that came from.

It's hard being a Redskins fan. You're always disappointed. Mondays are the worst & it's not until Thursday that you start feeling better. You spend time...energy...emotions...routing for the team with no gratification. Just when you think that the team just might be coming together, they display a performance of epic futility & WHAM!!! Right back down to reality you go. You're always wondering WTF am I doing this to myself? & the only real answer is...because you're a Washington Redskins fan. Like I said above, that's just the way it is being a fan of this team. What else are you going to do? It's not like you can go to another team, you've invested too much to leave now.

HTTR!!!

There hasn't been a competitive Thursday night game so far this season. Throw in all our injuries and the string of bad games continues. Things are usually not as bad as they appear because Redskin fans always have an inflated sense how good the team is...so is that the team's fault or the fan's ? I choose the road less travelled and try not to get too high or low with this team, while others will bounce around emotionally. Seahawks will be an incredible test to see the resilience of the attitude of this team. They have a job that everyone of them gets paid well for, so dry the tears and get your ass to work next week with a renewed attitude.

Well said Manchild. However I don't think it is so much an inflated sense of how good the team is, more of a deflated sense of how bad they are. I thought they were good enough for 7-9 or maybe claw their way to 9-7. I didn't think they were bad enough to remain a 3-10 team.

Four games in a row filled with the same mistakes every week. Squarely on the coaches failure to adjust. Adjust the plan or the players or the coaches or whatever it takes. Insanity - repeating the same actions over & over but expecting different results.

Don't misunderstand enjoying a win with blind enthusiasm and over inflation of how good the team is.

I have said from day one that this is a 7-9 team, maybe a little better if everything goes right and we get lucky. Well, this could not be going worse. But is 7-9 being that unrealistic? It shouldn't be. I had/have sound reasons for it. And while I might be a bit happy about a win and want to enjoy it does not mean I turn a blind eye to issues.

This team is really bad right now. That was a really bad egg on Thursday. Short turnaround, injuries, new HC etc. etc. etc. Every year it's the same thing excuses. We need wins and at this point i am not seeing many if any at all on our schedule.

We are averaging 10 penalties a game! That is an undisciplined team! Our Def looks like swiss cheese out there two weeks in a row. STs has gotten worse every game! We are backsliding fast. It would be different if you could see the team getting better each week. But I have not seen it. Kirk had a nice game against the eagles. But that's about it. Our coaching staff seems to have no idea we have a running game. Out DC is living up to (or down to) his lifetime stats as a useless DC.

We really need to make some wholesale changes and let the kids play. Where you have an eventual replacement remove the vet and put in the young guy, with the exception of maybe Ryan Clark.

well, we just released gabe miller. everyone remembers him, right? he was the guy who had one qb sack and a fumble recovery on one play in one preseason game against players who are no longer in the league. yet, by that one play, the morons-in-charge gave him rob jackson's roster spot. now, we don't have one linebacker who can cover receivers downfield. our defense is a joke and rob jackson is sitting at home laughing. don't you wish that haslett was sitting beside him?

Rob Jackson is sitting at home unemployed. All other 31 teams agree with Haslett.

Look, I want the guy gone too. But that does not mean everything he does is garbage. Keeping Gabe over Jackson was something many wanted. Hindsight is always 20/20.

As far as the Thursday night thing goes - wouldn't it make more sense to put teams coming off of bye weeks in those games during the part of the season that there are bye weeks?

Just shuffle the teams bye weeks to match the Thursday schedule. It can't be all that important when the team gets their bye. They only get one Thursday Night game at most during the season and only one bye.
