Just got back from Philadelphia and the Stink (Thoughts and Observations)

Just got back from the Linc, we had seats in section 210 above the south endzone.

Quick observations:

-Maclin didn't catch that ball in the fourth quarter. He had one foot in and his knee and elbow went out of bounds. Even the fecal fans were surprised the referees didn't overturn it.

EDIT: After reading the referee thread, it turns out the refs got this one right. I guess me and the other guys in my section don't know as much about football as we thought.

-The EJ Biggers pass interference call was 100% baloney. It happened right in front of me. That beetlejuice looking mofo (Maclin) fell on his own.

-Fecal fans boo injured Redskins players.

-The Fecal fans threw trash and other debris at Chris Baker as he was leaving the field.

-Halett looked just as confused and lost as he does at FedEx Field.

-That stadium is loud, not sure if it's the acoustics or if the team pumped in crowd noise.

-Orakpo played better in the second half.

-Desean Jackson received the most heat (obviously).

-The Iggles fanbase is 99.9% Caucasian. Not that it matters, I'm just used to the diverse crowds at FedEx. Just an observation.

-Eagles had wide receivers running free down field all day. Foles missed a few wide open players.

-Kirk made some good throws, but he also missed on a few wide open receivers as well.

-Eagles did a great job stopping Alfred Morris, Josh LeRiebus really struggled with run blocking.

Some (not all) of the Fecals fans are classless assholes. I got called a ****, mother ****er, asshole, gay slurs, racist, jerk, etc. About 6-7 skinny white boys picked on me after the game by calling me a racist because I support the Redskins. Funny thing is that the elf looking Fecal fan was wearing a Riley Cooper jersey. Anyways, I walked up to them and said "Good game fellas, congratulations." The tall one said, "Change your name asshole! You're a racist!" I then asked the tough guys for the location of the Eagles trophy case...silence. Then some fat **** with one tooth said he would shove a trophy up my rectum to which I replied, "well it surely won't be an eagles trophy."

The nasty woman next to me was hammered, I thought she was going to undress and give me a lap dance. Later she started fighting with another Eagles fan about something stupid. We had no ushers or security, so we let them sort it out on their own.

Eagles fans have a mob mentality, they only attack in groups and rarely one on one. My favorite was the group of rich boys in the Mercedes driving by me and calling me a gay slur as I walked towards the SEPTA. Wow, we gotta bunch a bad asses right there, can't say it to my face but will yell out obscenities then hit the gas.

While on the SEPTA I did meet one really awesome Eagles fan. He apologized for the boorish behavior and said he's sometimes embarrassed to be a fan of the team. We talked all the way to the convention center stop, he had a lot of nice things to say about the Redskins.

I thought the Redskins played a good game today. They out gained the Eagles by 180 yards and Kirk made some great plays. The special teams fail (10 point swing) was what did it in for us. We should have walked all over those bammas.

Exactly why I stayed my ass home.

Septa sucks ass on a regular day so I couldn't imagine how it was today.

Also I've heard a lot of stories of racism up there towards blacks. I'm black and I really don't feel like getting arrested because of those clowns

I lived in Philly, well, not just lived, I grew up there.  Although most of my friends were black (I'm mixed myself) I had a fair number of white friends who were not cut from the same "blue collar" (I don't use it disparagingly, only that it's often a euphemism) cloth as much of the rest of Philly.  I think of two quotes, one from Glory and the other from Chappelle.

"The Irish aren't noted for their fondness for the Coloreds" - Cary Elwes' character, Cabot Forbes (The City may be known for Italian Market and Rocky but it is very much Irish)

and Dave's description of racism in the south as like a fine cuisine, they've been doing it so long and well,

"The racism there is *muah* c'est magnifique!"

You know we've come a long way when likely racist Eagle fans are tossing out the cheap "racist" insult at people for rooting for a team with an apparently unpopular nickname.

Philly sports fans are the best, I'll never forget the fan that challenged a friend of mine to a fight.  When my friend took him up on the offer just outside our hotel, this guy started taking off his jewelry while loudly barking about each item for his friend to hold.  "Oh I'm going to beat your ass, yo hold my chain" and then "you think you're tough, hey hold my watch.  Careful with it, it's expensive."  "You're nothing but talk, here take my chain too I don't want to break it."  He did all of this while backing towards the lobby doors... and then suddenly he slipped into the hotel and left us, and his friend who was loaded down with treasure and shame, just kind of standing there in awe of what just happened.

Wow no surprise there. Philly fans are the most classless, trashy fan base out there. Went to the game in Philly back in 08 and I got called almost everything you did. Of course no one said I was racist because our team name was being discussed the way it is now. Also ended up getting a shoe thrown at me. My buddy (Steelers fan) who wasn't wearing any fan clothes but who was there with me had somebody purposely spill beer all over his head. I'll never go back there again. Philly is a dump!!

I've lived in Philly a few decades ago, I remember there was an african american area looking like a ghetto starting at 38th street (off Penn campus). There was no brotherly love for sure, and I got insulted in the street by a figgle fan just because I was wearing a Redskins jacket. Learning that 99.9% of the fans in the stadium are caucasians is surprising since african americans represent the number one commuinty with 44%.

I'm just wondering which fans are the most obnoxious figgles fans or seaderall fans ?

Maclin did catch the ball.  His knee hit first.  It was clear on the replay.

Yeah, live it sure looked out, but in replay I think his knee hit in just before his elbow hit out.

Philly should not be allowed to have home games until they clean up their stadium.  Fans are as dirty as the refs.

These are the same fans that stick their fingers down their throats and puke on small children at games.  None of this is surprising.  The irony of crying like babies cause Ryan Clark and Amerson were launching with their heads then complaining days/weeks later how soft Roger Goddell is making the NFL.  Philly fans suck and I ****ing hate them 10x more than Cowboys/Giants fans anyday of the week.

Few other things: the stadium constantly plays music from the Rocky movies. I always thought Ivan Drago was cooler, but then again I've always liked the bad guys (Megatron, Ric Flair, Darth Vader, etc)

Riley Cooper is a fan favorite. The fans yell "Coooop!" Every time he touches the ball. I Thought that was interesting.

The cool eagles fan on septa was like, "yeah eagles fans are usually cowards. They only attack if they have a large group with them, they rarely take you one on one." This was true, the group of skinny white boys weren't expecting me to walk up to their tailgate and dish it write back to them. I'm a thick dude, 5'11" 250.

I'd do it all over again. I'm not scared of those pricks. In fact it was fun to watch them cower. I loved the boos and "Asshole! Asshole!" Chants directed at me.

Maybe I'm a just sick individual.

As an Eagles season ticket holder, I would never take my kids to a game.  The fans are animals but, to be totally honest, the fans are uniformly polite to Skins fans.  In my 30 years of going to games, I rarely see the fan-on-fan violence that is always ascribed to Birds fans.  Most fans care about the Birds and don't want to get thrown out. And in the parking lots, in the area where we tailgate, there are always tailgates for fans of the other team.  I have never, ever, seen a fight in our lot, which is one of the bigger ones.  You do know that all of the stuff about Philly fans is a combo of truth and hype, right?  I assume that most can see through that.

And a couple of comments:

1. The Rocky stuff is annoying to the Eagles fans, too.  Don't know where all that stuff came from but the Rocky stuff is overdone.  The Eagles have been changing their in-game presentations and most fans hate it.

2. The fans don't love Riley Cooper.  I would guess that 100% of the fanbase would prefer Jackson over Cooper.  No one still has any idea of why we let him go.

There were far worse fans at the Cap Centre in the '80s at Caps-Flyers games than there has ever been at an Eagles-Redskins game.  And I've been to most of the Eagles-Skins game at the Vet and many at RFK.

I'm also an eagles season ticket holder since 1995.  I mostly agree with the other eagles fan.  I'm often embarrassed when I see our idiotic fans.  In the non-seat license seats, you will find drunk stupid fans.  I have been to half of the stadiums in the country.  They are everywhere but prominent in stadiums in the northeast area of the country.  When sitting in the 2nd level at fed ex field, all I did with 2 other couples was clap for my team.  The guy a few rows in front of us, drunk redskin fan, threw his cup of tobacco spit back at us.  Every time there is an issue in the seats where we pay seat licenses, the only time our fans yell is when we get taunted by the opposing fans but it never goes anywhere because we don't want to lose our seats.  Like yesterday when Desean Jackson's mom and 2 bruthas marching up the aisle in our section taunting fans.  So unfortunately our reputation from the old stadium (when we actually had the lowest form of sports fan attend) has followed us to the new place.  But in the new stadium, we are no different than other northeast cities.  ANd as for the ethnic mix in the stadiums, you should educate yourself on the demographics of cities like Chicago, Philly, New York vs cities like Washington, Atlanta & New Orleans.  I didn't complain about not too many white dudes when I went to a Saints game.  You redskins fans need to get off the bad Philly fan rants.

With that said that was the best live game I've seen in years and I will tell you skins fans this:  Kirk Cousins is legit !! You see more when you are there and I saw him command the game like you rarely see these days.  As an eagle fan, I am hoping for status quo down there.  Snyder and the rest of his crew finding ways to screw it up.  Like re-inserting RGIII

Boorish behavior is nothing new to me. I've experienced vitriol from fans at other stadiums too. I live in the Baltimore area and the Ravens fans lob all kinds of unsolicited vitriol at me and other Redskins fans.

Every fanbase has bad applies, it's not just one. Hell, I've witnessed grotesque behavior from Skins fans at RFK and FedEX.

But this was my first trip to the Linc and this is the only time I've been physically threatened, called a retard, gay slur, racist, asshole, mother****er, pig****er, etc. Hey I'm cool with good natured trash talk, but when a group of tough guys threaten to jump me, then we got issues.

I couldn't care less about the racial makeup of your fanbase at the Linc, it was just something very interesting to me considering how diverse the city of Philadelphia is.

Why do you think Lincoln is the only stadium that has a jail?  I've only been there once and we were a group of 10 and about 4-5 I was with were huge guys and we were in all Redskin gear and not one word was said to us.  Was funny actually.  It was funny to watch some of these Philly fans start to say something, then realize how many big guys we were with and close their mouths immediately.  Hilarious.

Anyways, yea Philly fans are trash.

As if Redskins fans are any better.  Why not discuss the brain injury sustained by an Eagles fan that was severely beaten after your Monday Night embarrassment a few years ago, or the foul mouthed drunken, ignorant redneck seated next to my son at another game. I live in MD and I've been to RFK and Fed Ex Field plenty of times and you have no room to be critcizing anyone.

The Linc does not have a jail -- that was Veteran's stadium.

There's about 800,000 things I'd rather do than go to watch the Skins play @Philly.  I mean,...all the things the OP mentioned are pretty well documented so,...why would I?  When I can sit at home in my awesome house, watching the Skins on my awesome 60" Samsung with chosin company.

Is this thread for real? They give a lot of trash talk but don't actually do anything. Don't look scared and you're fine. As my Grandmother (RIP) said, it takes a better man to walk away. We had a great drink and tailgate with Eagles fans all day. The drunken white trash are from South Jersey anyway.

I kind of agree with this post. Our own stadium has become a cesspool. I have seen it in every NFL stadium I have attended a game in. Drunk, ignorant and disrespectful people have become the norm at NFL games. It is the sad truth.

Like I said, 99.9% of Eagles fans do not go to games to fight.  I didn't bother to point out how many times fans of the other team walk through the stadium, or parking lots, in small groups (like you cited) looking for trouble.  This happens far more when the Giants are in town than the Redskins in town - the Skins fans tend to have a cooler vibe than Giants fans.  There's always some measure of bravado for out-of-town fans walking around in the ultimate danger zone.  Usually the locals fans don't rise up to take the bait and you get posts like the one above.

I'm at a game with 30 guys at our tailgate.  We are drinking, having a good time, eating, etc.  Why the f would we bother fighting a group of out-of-town fans looking for a fight?  Every time, and I mean every time, handing the meatheads from out-of-town a beer and some puled pork or a meatball sandwich chills things out.

I can also say that while there are plenty of people of color at Eagles game, the crowd is rarely as diverse as it is in DC.  No big deal about it but its true.

I work 45 min from philly and a guy that works for me says he would not even consider taking his kids to a game.

To be fair, I won't take my son to FedEx yet.
