Yahoo.Com: Chip Kelly wants us to believe Eagles cut DeSean Jackson because of his size

Just tell a ridiculous lie and move on to the next question, and hope Jackson (who says he plans to play Sunday despite a shoulder injury) isn't in full revenge mode by game time.

There is no doubt that DJax is licking his chops at this game and his former team, with just having him on the field will open many opportunities for our receiving core. If Gruden game plans right, and our Defense plays like they have against this good Philly offense, we could come out of Philly in 1st place.

We have to play good football across the board, Chip Kelly definitely has the Eagles stepping up in this league, they are on the brink, maybe just a half of step of becoming an elite team and power house in the NFL, and it figures it's our very own division foe.

That story is as likely as the time when I told everybody in my HS class that I had banged the captain of the cheerleaders behind the bleachers during halftime at a football game while her boyfriend, the star QB of the football team, was in the lockerooom preparing for the second half. Both stories are equally far-fetched, neither were accurate, and anybody with a brain could see through either one.

(Though, I really do wish mine was true. :P  )

One of Chip's most repeated quotes - big people beat up little people. .

So then he signs Darren Sproles

I love the Chip Kelly kook aid being gulped by every Eagles fan in existence. The crash is going to be the most beautiful thing ever in all of sports.

Let's hope that crash is this Sunday, I would love to finally see the Redskins turn that corner and start playing to their ability.

his response to that was that Sproles was 200 lbs and that weight was more important than height at certain positions.

hmm, dont know about the kool aid... he turned a 3 win team into NFC east champ his first season.   2 and 0 right now.

As Chip has said multiple times, Darren Sproles is a running back, not a receiver. You shouldn't be surprised that Chip has different physical criteria for receivers and running backs. Chip values size in receivers because he has observed that defensive backs are getting bigger and he wants receivers who can match up with those defenders, beat press coverage, and contest for passes. Even more importantly, perimeter blocking by receivers is key to the success of the running attack in a Chip Kelly offense. Receivers at Oregon were told "no block, no rock". In the article I just linked to, it said

DeSean Jackson, at 5-10, 175, acknowledged he is not in Avant's or Cooper's blocking league, but said, "I do the best I can."

Evidently Chip and the other coaches decided after self-scouting at the end of last season that Desean's doing the best he could blocking wasn't good enough. That, combined with his salary/cap hit, his size, and his tendency to disappear during big games led to the Eagles deciding to go "in a different direction." The other smallish Eagles receiver, Damaris Johnson, was also cut this summer.

As far as the "bigger people beat up little people" quote, he later clarified that he was referring more to defensive players than offensive players.

I don't think I can remember in my life time a team cutting it's best receiver in his prime?

"All he does is catch touchdowns."

- Buddy Ryan

Man, he's just full of lame cliches and one liners.

One of the reasons Chip Kelly is a great coach is because he uses memorable phrases that help his players remember concepts. Here's the mnemonic he tells quarterbacks regarding running with the ball:

"Touchdown, first down, get down."

"The mantra is touchdown, first down, get down," Kelly said. "I don't want them taking hits. I don't want them running people over. I also don't want them to hook slide when there's 7, 8 more yards that they can gain. It's just trying to get a feel for how far they can go.

"If you've got open grass and there's nobody in front of you, hopefully you'll run all the way. The first one is touchdown. If you can go 60 yards and run it in, God bless you. We're not telling them to hook slide. We're just telling them that when contact is imminent, our guys are not 250-pound bowling balls. They're going to run you over. They have to understand the best ability is durability. They have to go out and play the next snap."

Isn't that exactly the concept you all were worried about RGIII not getting a few months ago?

Glad to know Chip is a great coach for treating grown men like 7 years olds.

Also no, I haven't had a single worry about Robert Griffin, but thanks for linking to a thread where some people did.

Oh and Cris Carter definitely wasn't in his prime on the Eagles.

And here I figured it was some stupid reason.

With that being said, I don't think DJ has much of an impact in this game, revenge mode or not.

I don't see a lot of deep passing at all. Don't think Kirk will have the time for it, even if he has the ability.

Although, I still have this mental fantasy of us pulling out the flea flicker. As often as we hand the ball to Morris, I keep thinking it would be glorious.

Here's what the Fecals WR core looks like:

Jeremy Maclin: 6'0", 198 lbs

The Grand Wizard 6'4", 230 lbs

Jordan Matthews 6'3", 212 lbs

Brad Smith 6'2", 213 lbs

Jeff Maehl 6'0" 184 lbs

Josh Huff 5'11", 206 lbs

Desean Jackson is 5'10" 178 lbs

If this was about size, then that fat slob should have said so instead of making up some bull **** story about Desean rolling with the Crips.

I feel confident that the Fecals trophy case will remain empty under Chip's tutelage.

Just remember this:  It's not a lie, if YOU believe its true.
