RonArtest15
The suspension is a joke, but let's be real....Jimbo is trying to win games. The bigger issue to me is the constant immaturity that Winston displays. How is this guy going to function on the next level? He'll need a babysitter 24/7, but there isn't a chance in hell he escapes the police blotter within his first 2 years in the league. I'm certain of it. Sports Junkies had a great point...you look at guys like Brady, Brees, Manning, Wilson, etc. and all of them exude professionalism. Is this the guy you want leading your franchise as a QB? Winston is a sure-bet 1st round pick, even with his off-the-field transgressions, but you honestly have to wonder (and also with the scrutiny the league is facing with what's happening away from the field) about the major risk involved with drafting a moron like Winson. I can't even defend him...and if you honestly want to know what he said...finding his comments are very easy w/ a google search. Just a straight up moron. Whatever character assassination that is brought on to Winston leading up to the draft will be well deserved. Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has been suspended for the first half of Saturday's game against Clemson after he was seen shouting an obscene sexual phrase on campus Tuesday, the latest incident in which his off-field behavior has created problems for the team. SiCkSoULjA
Don't no exactly what was said but the suspension is a tough one, losing your starting QB for a half vs your conference rival could be big. Florida State didn't look great in there first few games so they better be ready this week.
Going Commando
He quoted a stupid internet meme. It was the kind of silly thing that college kids do, not some big black mark on his character. Most of the other off field stuff is petty too. The only serious thing is the sexual assault allegation but that's gone nowhere for a while. He's a cut up and immature, but he's a college kid. Not a professional football quarterback in the National Football League. Let him enjoy himself before The Shield gobbles up his soul.

Punishment for quoting some dumb joke is now not only expected, but applauded. I am all for suspensions and fines when it comes to actual criminal activity. But I fully expect some form of "hurt feelings" assault-type law to be passed in my lifetime, so maybe someday this will be criminal. I hope not. Bang
Seriously,, we need to start locking up every young person who says or does anything at all. Time to stop taking chances. the minute any teenager or 20-something opens his mouth, just imprison them before they offend some poor citizen. No one else ever said or did anything stupid when they were young, and it's just disgusting that these current disgusting examples of young humanity can't be as perfect as everyone else has always been. i am getting incredibly tired of this ridiculousness. hey look. i have a stone. I think I'm just going to cast it all over the ****ing place. I have an idea, How about we have a National Mind Your Own Business week? the peace would be nice. Jameis Winston did something dumb. There is no reason for the public pillorying that every incident gets these days. But nah,, prepare the stocks, and lets throw tomatoes at him. ~Bang
RonArtest15
Bang/JoeWolf - considering Winston's past, what he yelled in the student union was completely moronic. This is what I'm getting at. Dude just does not think. If he didn't have the rape allegation hanging over his head, then yea, chalk it up as someone doing something stupid when they're young. With Winston, there's just something off with him. I mean, his own dad said he's going to need a babysitter.

Going Commando
I judge Winston's intelligence more on the fact he thought that meme was funny enough to imitate. He would be the audience for such a stupid low rent joke. Man needs to develop his comedic tastes.

Not dumb as in, "I'm morally outraged," but dumb as in, "Wow that wasn't even funny. You're an idiot." How do these get to be internet memes? Am I old now? If by old you mean "older than 14" then yes. Because that's who I always thought the joke appealed to. The guy who came up with that joke seems like the biggest mouth-breathing weirdo. It actually makes me uncomfortable to watch him, not because of the vulgarity, but because of how creepy and low brow he is. It's a window into a life misspent. Also it gives me an example to point to when I want to complain about the amateurization of media (in this case Comedy) made possible by the internet. I fear a future where all professional comedians are beggared and jokes like this are the best we're going to get.

With Winston, there's just something off with him. I mean, his own dad said he's going to need a babysitter. And this makes him different from a lot of guys his age how? a lot of people don't think when they're young and goofing around. Allegations that are not proven are nothing. How long do allegations make us look at a person like they're guilty? What he said hasn't got anything to do with them. But people project it on to his comments, and then say "he just doesn't think about it because I thought about it, and if I thought about it, that means he has to know it" Young and stupid, and probably a bit immature. Like millions of other guys his age. the suspension is enough, and should send him the appropriate message. Hanging him out publicly to burn over it.. just celebrity gawking. By the by, i'm with others who thought the meme was just stupid, and not funny. And I'm a guy who definitely has a 14 year old's sense of humor. ~Bang
PF Chang
What does "bro-ish" mean exactly ? Hmm... The stereotype of fraternities, basically. Talking about all the 'sluts' you banged, etc. The meme/"joke" he shouted fits in with that. And now the whole 'meme' thing has been lowest common denominator-ized from whatever it was at 4chan. At this point a 'meme' is equivalent to "something people say to be obnoxious" with each new meme being progressively more loud and annoying. Faith Hilling, all the time. Destino
He shouted a stupid sexual meme while in college? And they suspended him for this? How many people on that same college campus sing along to more explicit, and far more insulting, lyrics with popular songs daily? Colleges have really gotten extremely over sensitive. He shouldn't be suspended and people that take issue with this need get over themselves. I think people just like to get outraged.

It's not just colleges.. our society is definitely trying it's best to appease those who are perpetually offended by every little leaf that falls. Dont Taze Me Bro
I'm a Noles fan, and Winston is an idiot for doing that, especially after the alleged rape and all the other dumb kids stuff he's done in the past. With that said, he's still just a kid that is acting like a fool like a ton of other kids his age (19-22) do everyday. One would have hoped that the seriousness of the rape allegations would have accelerated his maturity, especially knowing he could have been facing time in prison if something in the investigation went wrong. RonArtest15
As the saying goes "consider the source." Just about anyone else other than Winston, and it's most likely a non-issue. However, like I said, knowing what his past was...and the fact that there is STILL an investigation looming, clearly shows that he's a ****ing moron for yelling this **** out. Has nothing to do with society being too PC. FSU has covered his ass over, and over, and over...and he keeps making headlines for the wrong reasons. endzone_dave
I think it's good they suspended him for 1/2 a game. You don't have to crucify the guy but maybe a little slap on the hand will help him learn a little maturity before he enters the real world. It's one thing to yell out something like that when you're just an average Joe. And another thing when you are the face of a college football program, reigning Heisman trophy winner and National Championship winning QB and you feel the need to stand up on a table and do this with not a care in the world. Players get suspended for violation of team rules all the time, in every program, across the nation. I'm willing to bet his actions were a violation of team rules. They had to suspend him, while its a slap on the wrist only being one half off football, he forced their hand. I agree that everyone gets offended today, me personally, I wouldn't be offended and can really care less what people yell, **** talk, etc. But I bet if I went into a packed bar, stood up on my table and yelled the same thing. I'm going to be kicked out of the bar, possibly banned and if I don't comply, they will call the cops on me.
