REDSKINS SIGN TWO TO PRACTICE SQUAD

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed the following players to the team’s practice squad:

S Akeem Davis

LB Chaz Sutton

Sutton (6-5, 263) originally signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a college free agent on May 12, 2014. He appeared on the team’s roster throughout training camp and preseason before being waived on Aug. 25, 2014.

Sutton played collegiately at South Carolina, where he appeared in 50 games with 15 starts in his five-year career for the Game****s. He finished his collegiate career with 75 tackles, eight sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception he returned for a touchdown.

Sutton, 24, attended Jenkins H.S. in Savannah, Ga., where he played on both sides of the ball, recording 85 tackles with six sacks and registering 75 rushing attempts for 830 yards as a junior. He was born Sept. 7, 1989.

Davis (6-1, 200) joined the Redskins as a free agent on April 10, 2014. He spent the offseason with the organization before being waived yesterday.

Seastrunk! Boo!

First in

Aren't you supposed to be responsible, set the example and demonstrate restraint to show all the new and young posters what it is like to post during the regular season in the NFL?

May have to move your mod locker next to Park City, a long time high-character poster and mod.

From what I saw from Seastrunk his zone tracks weren't great and he wasn't good in protection. Those are very big issues that could lead to serious problems. He's a developmental guy, and clearly Gruden didn't think he was a necessary component here.

Same thing that can be said about our right side of our offensive line but they kept them.

Some of us appreciate his sense of humor.

I'm surprised they haven't signed Seastrunk.  It's almost like they are trying to prove a point.

Well, it's also a two-way street. He may be evaluating other practice squad opportunities. I figured we would want him for our practice squad, but he may be holding out for an opportunity elsewhere. Who knows.

Well, what I find interesting is that the guy hasn't landed somewhere else by now.  One thing we've all learned about the NFL is that if you've got the talent, there's always a place for you.

Could be that The Coaching Staff actually knows what they're doing.

This is it.  He does not want to be tied to the practice squad when he knows that an opportunity will arise.  It may take a couple of weeks or a month, but he expects to be on a roster somewhere.

I don't know if a guy in his position has the luxury of sitting back weighing opportunities for more than 30 seconds.  You wait too long and they'll just give it somebody else.  Lot of competition for those spots.

PS players can be signed at any time to another team's 53.  Why forego a PS paycheck and not sign to one?

That and not only an opportunity to get reps in,but possibly impress another coaching staff.

Pretty much. Take what you can get. Gotta start somewhere, being on any team's ps is a good start.

I don't think anybody knows that.  And a guy who was a 6th round pick and had a couple decent preseason games definitely shouldn't be overly confident in such a thing.
