Help! London Pubs/Bars That Will Show Redskin Games.

I know there are a few posters here from the UK(GHH and Martin C come to mind) and I'm sure their familiarity will be essential. I'm currently completing an internship/studying in London for the fall semester and of course am hoping to scratch my Redskin itch. I recall years ago some posters inquiring about pubs in London that show Redskin games, but that was quite a while ago, so i thought i'd create another updated thread for any posters currently residing in London(thought selfishly, mostly for my purposes) where they can watch said games. So anyone know of some places that will show the games?

Just for some context, my flat is located right next to the Farringdon Rd underground station.

You could try Rileys Sports Bar in Haymarket. It's got over 30 screens and good food. Although I haven't been in there since it changed owners.

The Carlsberg Sports Bar at The Casino in Leicester Square is good as well, and it's always open!

Edit: Neither place shows Redskins' games specifically, but if you ask, they will.

I haven't got a clue unfortunately on London pubs to watch 'Skins game bro' not being from there; but as an aside I think I was pretty close to you earlier on Sunday as I started off after coming out of Euston and walked down for a couple of pints in O'Neil's over the road from Kings Cross before jumping the tube over to Seven Sisters and Tottenham. (The Beehive is a great pub just off the High Road over there if you're ever out and about in that area of North London.).

Hail.

Like GHH I'm not from London but I used to go there quite a bit on business. I'm not aware though of a specific Redskins bar - but there are a number of venues that show NFL games. They tend just to show the games which are on Sky TV over here which is one of the early games and one of the late games.

However I have been told that this place (http://www.hippodromecasino.com/live-sports/american-sports/) shows every game though I have never been myself. Now I suspect the wallet emptying potential is probably huge there are well but if you can exercise some self control your guaranteed to catch the Redskins.

You could always subscribe to gamespass if you are here for most of the season - its like NFL Sunday ticket but online. If you have half way decent internet its great. I stream it using Apple air play to my big screen TV and its brilliant. Here's a link https://gamepass.nfl.com/nflgp/secure/schedule

Yeah, you don't wanna be asking northerners like GHH and MartinC questions about London, exhaulted posters though they may be. That said, they do seem to have a more open-minded approach to the capital than some :)

Except for the examples mentioned so far, most venues are probably reliant on Sky Sports for their coverage. They get Thursday night games (good luck with that because of the time difference) and one game each from the 6pm and 9pm slots on Sunday. It's a subscription service. Channel 4 (free-to-air) available online and on regular TV) will show the late games on Sunday and Eurosport (free, but think you need satellite or cable to view) Monday night football. One small chain which springs to mind as showing Sky Sports games is Bodean's BBQ (http://www.bodeansbbq.com/site/; several venues and they do a pretty good Superbowl party). Marylebone Sports Bar and Grill (http://www.sportsbarandgrill.co.uk/locations) used to do a weekly party, with comedians and other entertainment. No sign of it this year so far, but they usually advertise so may be worth checking out. I'd also advise checking the following forums on the NFLUK website:

http://forum.nfluk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=13

http://forum.nfluk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=14

The first will have threads announcing the Sky Sports games, as well as adverts for upcoming events. The latter has a thread stickied at the top containing venues in London showing games. However, be aware it starts from 2008 so go to the end for the most up to date info. Hasn't been updated yet this year.

MartinC nailed it - best you can do if you want guaranteed Redskins is to go for Gamepass. They have a follow your team option that works out cheaper. However, be aware that no matter what option you pick, games being shown on Sky Sports have a blackout period.

Anyway, enjoy your time in London. I can offer other advice on London, although living outside and being a family man nowadays, I venture in a lot less than I used to so my knowledge isn't that up to date. Chances are, you'll be meeting plenty of people with much better knowledge than myself but I'll always reply to a pm.

Yeh, I used to work in the Rileys sports bar on Haymarket before it changed hands but I believe the set up is the same. They will show the matches shown on skysports (two of the 1pm matches and two of the 4/4:15pm matches) and may be able to get a couple more but you will have to go in and ask, probably beforehand. I would recommend going in rather than calling so you can speak to a manager rather than just the girl on the desk who will have the list of games in front of her but won't be able to take requests to change or add matches to the schedule.

As an aside, when I worked there we always showed the opening game of the season as well so if you had any interest in watching Rodgers make the Seahawks look like fools on Thursday then you might be able to watch it there as well.

Anyone know of any San Francisco bars I can watch the games at?

The Red Jack Saloon is where you want to head. I have been there a few times when I have been in San Francisco, it's not fancy but good people, and while they show other games the main TV is dedicated to the Redskins. It's off Fisherman's Wharf.

In addition, this has recently been announced:

http://forum.nfluk.com/showthread.php?t=103224

The O2 is an entertainment complex (in the former Millenium Dome) and Indigo is a gig venue within. It's where the Superbash (NFLUK's official superbowl party) is held these days. Free to enter, but two tickets per applicant only. The location of North Greenwich means it's further out, but it's showing multiple games a night. Could be worth a look.

I can't believe I forgot about The O2, I only live about 2 miles away. They're apparently showing a selection of games, but you will have to check which ones are on each week and register for the free tickets.

North Greenwich Station is on the Jubilee Line so it's quite easy to get to. There's lots of bars and restaurants inside and not a bad night out, although it is a bit expensive.

It's London.

That's a given.

Just to add to this, if any latecomers are still looking to subscribe to gamepass, use REP15 as a promotional code when paying online. Gets you a 15% discount off the subscription cost.
