At first blush, I was wrong about...

I like being wrong (when it's a positive).  Thought it could be fun to have a thread not to eat crow, but to cheer our team on in the ways that they have surprised us positively.

I was frustrated with free agency and the draft because we didn't pick up any highly regarded replacement for Fletcher.  At first blush... I look stupid.

I hated the draft choice of Ryan Grant.  Who needs a slow, small wide receiver in arguably the deepest position on our team (and even as good as he is he still can't break the top three), but at first blush we found a player.

I actually thought Rambo deserved a second chance... At first blush, you can't always be wrong :D

Any that you agree with... or any different predictions of gloom you made or felt which look like they are turning out well?  There have been a lot of positive preseason stories.  A bunch of guys who seem to be playing well.  Hopefully, this will be a thread where we can do a little cheering and admit that maybe, just maybe we're not all head coach and general manager material (even though all of us probably deserve our shot or at least an NFL HC's paycheck!)

Feel free to talk about the guy's I mentioned in the OP, but also anything is fair game though I'd prefer this to be a positive thread so if you think you were wrong about something that turned out badly... stick it in a different thread please.

I might be wrong about Leribeus. I was sure that he would be out of football this year. Good for him

I also was probably too harsh on RGIIi last yer, though I do think in looking back he just shouldn't have been out there, period. But that's on the coaches not Robert

As an aside, will be interesting to see who DOESN'T post in this thread.

No idea if there's any record of it, but I was scratching my head over the Ryan Grant pick.  I was sure he was either only going to be kept because he was drafted or because other guys got hurt or would be on the PS.  Had no idea he was that good.

I can't say whether I'm wrong on Trent Murphy yet.  Wasn't enthused by the pick.

I was wrong that RG3 would be pretty decent to impressive in preseason but we'll have to see how it plays out in a couple weeks.

I thought Adam Gettis would make the team.  Rob Jackson too.

I was wrong in thinking that Kyle was gonna evolve his offense and always stay a step ahead of the DCs in the league.  I also thought he was gonna take over the reigns after his dad moved into the front office following a successful run here.

I also thought Rambo was ready for the scrap pile.

I should impose a ban on myself for that opening statement.  Jeebus.

Great idea with the thread Burgold.

I'm glad that Rambo got a second chance.  Kinda felt like he got set up to fail last season.

But I was wrong about Coach Gruden & co. drafting a Kicker to compete with Forbath.  At the time, I thought it was a wasted pick.  Lo & behold, that Rookie Kicker has held his own quite nicely.  There is no doubt who the better leg is on Kickoffs.

And it may be too early to tell, but it appears that a lot of us may be wrong about Haslett too.  Yes, its only pre-season, but improved tackling is improved tackling.  He at least deserves props for that...so he gets props.

I thought Brandon Jenkins would at least contribute when we drafted him.  That was a disappointment to say the very least.

I honestly didn't expect much at all out of many of the picks this year.  I would never have taken Brieland when we did as we haven't had success with secondary players late in the draft under Shanny.

But after watching him play, I remembered GHH's thread about Shanny hitting on secondary players back to the 90s in Denver.

Go ahead Scott Campbell.  You big stud.

I was negative about the drafting of Amerson. And he seems to be turning out all right.

... Had doubts about Grant (speed) but noticed he had great hands from all the videos. He's now becoming one of my favorite players to watch in the preseason.

Lauvao seemed like a strange signing to me, but he's shown up well in the preseason.

Future areas to be wrong (hopefully). Still don't care much for Biggars. And Murphy needs to show me more, before I think it was a good draft choice

Going way way back:

I believed at 7-1 the 1996 team

Would make the playoffs. Whoops. (Damn you Norv.)

I thought when Snyder bought the team, and then with the playoff run in 1999, the skins had turned the corner, since they had been terrible for 6 years at that point. Whoops (Though I actually think he's turned a corner now)

I thought Lavar Arington would turn into the best defensive player in the NFL. Biggest draft bust of the last 30 years. Damn you Lavar. Whoops

I thought Marty would be around for a while and restore playoff appearances. Whoops

(I never thought anything in the Spurriers years would be good, and it wasn't)

I bought into picking Carlos Rodgers and JC. Whoops.

I thought Al Saunders would bring a new excitement to the offense. Whoops.

I thought that at least 1 2nd round players never to be named in the draft never to be mentioned would turn out to be good. So remarkably whoops.

I thought Griffin would return at full strength in 2013. Yeah, about that.... Whoops.

So far, I haven't really been proven right or wrong about anything in 2014. Too early to judge anything.

I wasn't sold on picking a kicker in the 7th round. Regardless if he makes the team, I think it was an ok pick.

Edit: after reading this, I'd like to point out I have been right a few times just so I don't lose all credibility for future posts.

thread title could be a lilttle more descriptive :) (I just bring it up because I wanted to talk about Nick Williams but that thread was already closed.)

I agree though, I wasn't in love with a WR pick in the 5th, but I didn't mind it either. I think because he's a draft pick, he makes the team, and he'll probably turn out to be a nice rotational possession guy. He's a young guy that plays like a vet. Lets be honest, we know Robert is still learning to go through his progressions; we need a guys to be where they are supposed  to be and I think Grant can do that.

This thread should be reserved for the end of the season lol.

Most everything you said you were wrong about, maybe in 16 weeks you'll find out that you weren't.

Here's one that I might be proven wrong about later though (but i seriously doubt it): If RG3 plays well and doesn't turn the ball over alot then everybody will say our defense is so much better this year. If he turns it over 20+ times like he did last year then everybody will likely talk about how our defense sucks. That D will dominate if we can score 24+ a game.

Oh I was wrong about how dominant we'd be after Gibbs drafted Desmond Howard after we won the SB in 1991. I was also wrong that Rypien had actually become a good QB too.

I was wrong about  Portis, he was actually worth the trade, and nope Fred Davis never turned into that stud TE either.

I was right about Spurrier, Zorn, and Shanahan though and also about Norv going to San Diego hahahaha.
