Redskins-Buccaneers: 4 Keys To The Game

Recommended Posts

patience, everyone. we are only in the first year of gruden's five-year rebuilding program. not to be confused with shanahan's five-year--pardon me, four-year--rebuilding program. which should not be confused with jim (look, mom, i'm a head coach) zorn's five-year--pardon me, two-year--rebuilding program. which should never be confused with the second-coming of joe gibbs, who was constantly confused. (what do you mean, i can't call two timeouts in a row?) . . . ok, forget patience. where's the panic button? or better yet, where's poloforme when you need him?

so they look a little shaky its preseason and a new coach trying to install a new offense .we have the talent and with all the bad there has been flashes of good its all about working out the kinks .Cousins has looked good with the second team and is more comfortable in the pocket  but not a threat of running..

no need to hit the panic button  remember the offense even with second teamers has been vanilla .

also even with Gibbs little follie second time around he did give Snyder the blueprint on how the run the team ,notice how he lets football people runs things now and it took him a few years to get it right too.

Our front seven is solid throwing Murphy in the mix is going to make us a sack machine Amerson is looking sharp and with Breland we have talent in the secondary Keenan looked like he can cover which was a glaring weakness with ironman in there God bless the Redskin's in 2014

The D has looked as great as the offense has looked terrible... I've been preaching Keenan and Breeland- these two are difference makers. Throw in the additions of Hatcher, Clarke, Porter, Murphy, this will be a top 10 D. The only thing that could prevent the D from being great, is if we see what we saw in the Ravens game- 3 and outs galore. Honestly, our offense scared me in that Ravens game- from RG to the oline, it was nauseating. The playcalling was suspect, as we only ran it on first down once in the first half. That type of playcalling shouldn't happen in the regular season, but either way, that performance was inexcusable and the offense needs to figure itself out.

4 years is a bit long for a rebuilding program with the large number of young players on the team; let's hope the good things start to happen a lot sooner.

The D appears to be rejuvenated in 1 year, the addition of a few players accompanied with style adjustments appeared to do the trick; at least in the pre-season.

The O appears to have a lot of talent that is not meshing at this time; we can hope for adjustments and 2nd teamers moving up to fix the problems.

Hail CTskin!

Nice post. Although I wouldn't include Porter as part of the worthy additions. He really hasn't done much. Jay eluded to the same thing saying he was hoping that Porter would show improvement in Game #4.

I said before that the oLine looked sloppy; Like a Chinese fire drill. Jay said they think they have nailed down some issues with lineman running the wrong way, back peddling too far and playing out of position.

OK, just start some thought. Does Meriweather play in game #4? Yeah he's a starter but also will be missing the first two games. Seems like he should play a bit.

The other reason I ask - anyone think that they might just cut him? If Thomas was definitely healthy I think that it would be a real possibility. After awhile, do you really want to count on a guy you cannot count on?

Maybe it's time to roll with what you got and keep an eye on the waiver wire.  I don't know that he would make the other 14 games without another suspension or an injury.

Most of us had these same concerns when was resigned. Deja vu all over again.

I posted this somewhere else but looking for anyone with anything to add.

So this Cousins vs. RGIII thing is getting some serious legs. Look at this from the Huffington Post then the link to the Bleacher Report. This is the first I have heard about RGIII alienating his teammates.

Anyone else heard anything? It will all go away if we come out winning. We really need the season to start more than any other team.

Thank you very much for this!!  I didn't think it was true as that Blecher Report thing was the first I heard and they area not exactly credible. But I figured someone here would have some better information! And they did!

It really amazing to me the amount of misinformation that's gone on about RGIII. I have never seen anything like it.

I would think Merriweather should start the last game. He's not a starter now. let Rambo and Clark rest it up. It would be wrong to cut him now, I just don't see cutting a player while he's appealling a suspension, let the process work out. 1 injury to the other Safeties and he's needed, can't depend on Thomas to be healthy so he may need to be shown the door.

I agree in letting Merriweather play but I would put him at FS for this game. Rest Clark but get Rambo some time. BM can play both, just is a better SS. IMO Rambo needs as many reps as he can get.

I think he needs as many reps as possible but I was thinking of resting him because of the progress he's made plus the morale boost/vote of confidence in letting him rest like a first teamer. If they are going to use Biggers at Safety this year( hope it doesn't come to that) maybe he should get some time there too. If Merriweather plays the refs are going to whistle him for sneezing near a player.

Is it just me or does it seem Keenan Robinson is an upgrade over London Fletcher from last year. Now let me clear up that London Fletcher in my opinion is 1 of 3 Inside backers in the last 15 years who is a sure fire Hall of Famer and should be first ballet but he seemed old last year. Keenan seems to bring speed and intensity that London seemed to have lost last year. Now London's leadership skills that will be a huge loss. It could be that I have wishful thinking going on in my brain.

Meriwether needs to go. Simple as that. I know our depth isn't great but he has such a bad reputation that he gets ZERO benefit of the doubt which could cost us in game.

Alfred needs to get more respect this year from his coaches. Do we know for a fact he can't catch well? They barely throw it too him in games so maybe it's a practice thing.

The o-line.......

RGIII will be fine. He's too gifted not to be and if anyone can fix his pocket presents it's Coach Gruden.

Hail 603 - I could not agree more about London Fletcher. He should be (probably will not) a 1st ballot HOF. However, he played 1 yr too many. He was just slow last year. Was not good in coverage at all. Keenen flying around is going to make some mistakes but I think he can make up for them with some big plays.

Just can't get rid of BM just yet. What I do have a problem with is penalizing him regular season games for something that happened in preseason, when you are in fact getting your football feet under you. If you want to fine him, OK. But suspend regular season games? That's BS!

The Off is an enigma. I just have no feel for what they will be this year. Could be awesome could be the worst. We will see when we see.
