Big Weirdo
http://www.thenewsnerd.com/sports/allen-iverson-begging-for-change-in-atlanta/ Troubled former NBA basketball player Allen Iverson was seen begging for change outside of Lenox Mall in Atlanta. Several mall patrons reported a man with a disheveled appearance harassing them for change. When security arrived, they were shocked to see it was none other than basketball legend Allen Iverson. Iverson was asked to leave the premises by mall security. God damn thats just sad.

Big Weirdo
Facebook is seriously adding a satire tag because of all these Onion wannabes that think making up a story = satire. I saw that. To be honest thats hardly satirical. Thats just making **** up. Looking at their other links none of them are satirical. It's literally **** that is just made up and could have possibly been said. Whatever. THIS THREAD IS NOW ABOUT WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE EVILMONKEYBOY SO COME UP WITH SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT
EvilMonkeyBoy
Heh, well then. Lets at least talk about how scummy this website is.http://thedailybanter.com/2014/04/this-website-tricked-dumb-people-with-fake-news-and-is-making-money-doing-it/ Currently circulating from this site is a story that claims “George Zimmerman Sells Trayvon Martin Painting for $30,000.” Attached to the story is a Photoshopped image of Zimmerman with his supposed handiwork. The fake story currently has 17,000 shares on social media and has attracted outraged Internet commentary from people not swift enough to realize it is fake. I swear these sites attempting satire and failing miserably are at least 75% of the emails I get from my Uncle, I'm sure plenty of y'all can claim similar numbers. In this day and age the content of the article doesn't even matter, just a sensational enough headline to get clicks and rake in that sweet, sweet ad money. balki1867
Speaking of getting got, did anyone read about the reporter in Ferguson who supposedly found some rubber bullets on the ground and tweeted a picture of them? It turned out they were actually earplugs, and a whole twitter meme started based on that. Here's the original tweet: Here's an article with the followup responses: http://www.ijreview.com/2014/08/169042-reporters-clueless-tweet-made-internet-explode-hilarious-ridicule/
EvilMonkeyBoy
Yeah, I like Reilly but that was just plain embarrassing. Can't believe a guy can go that long in his life without seeing foam earplugs. Really just should have asked a co-worker or a fellow reporter. I'm sure the people at VICE could have told him the difference and laughed at him as soon as walked away.

Bang
Satire is obvious, this site just trolls. The idea of satire is to use comedy or outrageous surrealism to mock or bring attention to something. for example: Anyone with Hulu or something, go look up "Buckwheat Buys the Farm":.. an old SNL Skit with Eddie Murphy as Buckwheat getting shot. It was made the week Ronald Reagan was shot, and it mocked the media's immediate and constant coverage of the assassination attempt. (something we're all well used to now.)It was about a serious situation, and it was funny and had a good biting satirical hook, but it was obvious. The idea is to make the audience laugh. That site is the writers laughing at the audience. More self absorbed drivel. ~Bang
MattFancy
This is the problem with social media today. Someone posts a story like this on their News Feed and next think you know it's shared or liked or retweeted thousands of times. No one takes any time to read the actual story, they see the headline, then click share or like. People will post anything on FB or Twitter to further their agenda, even if it's proven the article isn't real. Sad.

Forehead
Anytime I feel like my Facebook list or group of acquaintances needs to be culled, posting stuff like this is a determining factor. Another is posting their answers to quiz after quiz after quiz and having a near orgasm because of which person they are in the Hunger Games. You know which person I was in the Hunger Games? Dan T.
That's not even satire. This is how you do it, from 2008: Black Guy Asks Nation For Change CHICAGO—According to witnesses, a loud black man approached a crowd of some 4,000 strangers in downtown Chicago Tuesday and made repeated demands for change. "The time for change is now," said the black guy, yelling at everyone within earshot for 20 straight minutes, practically begging America for change. "The need for change is stronger and more urgent than ever before. And only you—the people standing here today, and indeed all the people of this great nation—only you can deliver this change." It is estimated that, to date, the black man has asked every single person in the United States for change. "I've already seen this guy four times today," Chicago-area ad salesman Blake Gordon said. "Every time, it's the same exact spiel. 'I need change.' 'I want change.' Why's he so eager for all this change? What's he going to do with it, anyway?" After his initial requests for change, the black man rambled nonstop on a variety of unrelated topics, calling for affordable health care, demanding that the government immediately begin withdrawing troops from Iraq, and proposing a $75 billion economic stimulus plan to create new jobs. "What a wacko," Schaumburg, IL resident Patrick Morledge said. "And, of course, after telling us all about how he had the ability to magically fix everything, he went right back to asking for change. Typical." "If he's really looking for change, he's got the wrong guy," Morledge added. Reports indicate that the black man has been riding from city to city across the country, asking for change wherever he goes. http://www.theonion.com/articles/black-guy-asks-nation-for-change,2409/ They even got the picture right:
