Redskins To Work On Correcting Mistakes

Recommended Posts

Ravens are going to be a huge test to see where our starters are and most important where RG3 is. We mortgaged alot of 1st and 2nd round picks to get him and 1 NFC east banner isn't enough to justify it, but there is nothing else to do but play it out and see if he becomes a true nfl qb and not a flash in the pan. Glad we still have retained Cousins, we may still need him if Griff doesn't wake up and listen to his coaches.

well Griffin a flash in a pan, maybe ,its all on him to learn to get out of bounds and slide .hes been trying but hasn't quite got it yet .

we still haven't seen the full offense yet and won't until the regular season still don't know what it going to look like .

defense looks much better holding the patsies but without Brady .second stringers let the browns get too close

afraid the ravens will show us exactly where we stand

Preseason Live hasn't lifted their 24 hour blackout on the Skins game yet (it's been 36 so a little miffed) but I did catch up on a few others.

Ravens will be a good test. Very good on on ST - especial KR; Thompson. He's a ghost even when running right at people. If they keep him around 25 yds per return or less that is a win. He had 100 yd+ return last week. And teams don't get much returning against them. If Ross shows up well here he is going to be very hard to keep off the roster.

Dallas has a good rushing offense - if they ever figured that out and used it they might be dangerous. They did average 4.5 yds a carry, mostly by running to the edges - not at the Ravens.

They play clean - 7 penalties for 60 yards. That's pretty darn good in the preseason.

Obviously they are known for their defense. They can be had on misdirection and counter plays. Although the stats may not show it, they did not contain Bryant well at all. They did blitz well - somewhat aided by the turds leaving some guys completely unblocked but never the less the Ravens spent a lot of time containing and dropping Dallas QBs.

They can run run the ball very well. The Dallas D is pretty much a wreck right now but the Ravens are still a solid run team. Flacco was not too good; 9-17. Don't expect that to last although the Skins can get into their backfield. Don't think the Birds will be flipping any birds - Redskins won't get into his head that much.

Hail Johns-

They play clean - 7 penalties for 60 yards. That's pretty darn good in the preseason.

That is very clean considering how the refs are throwing flags this preseason. I think the flag throwing will change some after the preseason, they're over doing it now as part of player training or at least that's my theory.

We need to play as many teams possible who have strengths that were our weakness last year. The way Chester was a seive allowing browns players in the backfield they really should start LeRebius at rg and if he does his job then cut Chester and use Long as his backup, doubt if that would happen though.

@man, Perhaps not only a guard change but Compton for Polumbus. There was no push on that goal line series inside the 5. Of course, without having access to the game films I only have a high level view of individual O-Line players and can only go on how I thought the overall 2nd and 3rd team line did looked.

Even though Lichtensteiger centers the ball well he has been repeatedly pushed into the backfield against the Patriots and the Browns. That is not an option that the team can live with being much harder to get a rb in place to help block a pass rush up the middle. Much easier to get a te or rb to help on the edge probably because of the amount of space there, not interfering with the qbs pocket. So, if Chester doesn't get his act together then he probably needs to go and grab some young beefy project that we can work with at center. I noticed film on LeRebius that showed him standing up Lich's man while he had his head on a swivel looking for a db to rush. Maybe the best thing now is to let Lauvao and Ribs sandwich Lich for help. Obviously Chester is not getting it done.

Finally got to see the game, although apparently a different one than seen by others. Maybe there was a double header or something.

Compton to start in front of anybody? No. Absolutely not by any stretch of the imagination. Got run through like he was the statue of Venus.

Chester was the guy picking up on the dudes that got around Tyler. Maybe they got others that can do the same but he did cover up a lot of opps.

Who gave up the sack on RGIII - that was Kory's guy and the defense went center and left.

Didn't really get the goal line play. There were some other plays in there that have to go also - laying this at the feet of the coaches. At the goalline - left side was Paul, Paulsen, Trent & Lauvao - right of Kory was Chester, Tyler & Reed. Running it anywhere but the left three times in a row was stupid. Finally got around to the left on 4th down. If the handoff had gone to Young on possibly the 2nd and definitely the 3rd down it would have been a TD. It's preseason but terrible play calling.

Alf gets tagged with a fumble - worst pitch I've seen since Little League. Balls not supposed to tumble like a punt when you flip it to your RB. That's on Robert. On RGIIs  last slide; Reed wide open right in front of him. Just throw the ball.

Silas just can't block. Unless there is a massive improvement this week he'll be out. Keim seemed enamored with his blocking - every time I saw him he was getting pushed to the ground.

Still don't see all the man lust for Aldrick. 2 catches. 7 targets. Yeah some bad passes but others that were definitely catchable. He makes the easy ones look easy and the hard ones look impossible.

If Tracy Porter was a rookie everyone would be saying cut him. And rightly so - he needs ball up if he is going to help out this secondary. 0 tackles, 0 assists and was out of position or bouncing of of receivers.

Chase needs to control his hands. It's gonna cost the Skins big in a game somewhere down the road. Rules have changed; have to change with them. Breeland looks good with it (though he should have had the int).

Well, it does say 'correcting mistakes' so I'll leave it at that for now. There is definitely positive stuff I saw - I'll post up elsewhere and later.
