ROOKIE SPOTLIGHT: Bashaud Breeland

Recommended Posts

Stephen Czarda  - sorry, not much depth to his 'in-depth'. Read the article, there just isn't any meat & potatoes in there, Just the usual camp banter.

Let's wait and see how things look by Monday after there has been some pads and whacking going on.

From some of these pictures on the picture gallery it looks like he tries to tackle with his shoulder. I know when he was drafted they said he missed some tackles in college. I think he is a couple years away from being a big part of the defense. He needs to work on his tackling technique. I can't wait till preseason to see what Breeland and the rest of the rookies can do in real game situations.

Breeland has been working on keeping has hands off of the receivers which probably is/was the biggest the biggest concern. The combo of Meriweather & Breeland using bad touching on the field could get rather ugly. Meriweather has a history so he isn't going to get the benefit of a doubt from the ref's; just accept it guys - kinda like the boat Pollard is in.

Skins had some ref's visiting & did point out when Breeland would have been called (often) so the recognition is there. This isn't college - the rules are nowhere near as liberal. The ref's can't say exactly what the player did to draw a penalty during camp - just that there would have been a flag.

And there has been a lot of improvement in cleaning up his act. Now what happens at game speed when it's adrenalin and reflexes will be something to monitor.
