REDSKINS ANNOUNCE TICKET LOTTERY FOR FAN APPRECIATION DAY AND REDSKINS-PATRIOTS JOINT PRACTICE SESSIONS

RICHMOND, Va. – In response to a record number of Training Camp fan invitation registrations, the Washington Redskins announced today a ticket lottery will be conducted for Fan Appreciation Day on Aug. 2 and the Washington Redskins-New England Patriots joint practice sessions on Aug. 4-6.

At this time, fans wishing to attend Training Camp on the aforementioned dates may enter the lottery free of free of charge by visiting redskins.com/trainingcamp. The deadline to enter is Friday, July 25 at noon ET. Randomly selected fans will receive an e-mail on Saturday, July 26 with a link to a printable ticket with a unique bar code, which guarantees access to the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center on the date for which their name was drawn.

Included below are important details for fans interested in attending practice at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center on those select dates:

Why are the Redskins using a lottery system?

Via the Redskins’ online fan RSVP system, the team has received a record number of registrations for Fan Appreciation Day and the Redskins-Patriots joint practice sessions.

Based on NFL best practices, an automated, random lottery system is the most fair way to distribute complimentary tickets which will guarantee access to these high-demand events.

What practice sessions are subject to the Fan Lottery?

Practice Sessions subject to the Fan Lottery are:

Saturday, August 2nd – Fan Appreciation Day

Monday, August 4th – Washington Redskins & New England Patriots Joint Team Practice

Tuesday, August 5th – Washington Redskins & New England Patriots Joint Team Practice

Wednesday, August 6th – Washington Redskins & New England Patriots Joint Team Practice

How do I enter and what do I receive if I am selected?

The lottery system is free to enter (online at redskins.com/trainingcamp or by mailing a 3x5 card with name, address, phone number and e-mail address to Redskins Training Camp Lottery at 21300 Redskin Park Drive, Ashburn, VA 20147).

The deadline to enter is Friday, July 25 at noon ET.

One (1) entry per fan per practice session.

Each randomly selected fan will receive four (4) complimentary tickets which will guarantee access to the day of practice for which their name was drawn.

How will the process work?

Randomly selected fans will receive an e-mail on Saturday, July 26 with a link to a printable ticket with a unique bar code.

Each fan entering the gates, including children, must present their complimentary ticket prior to entry in order to guarantee access.

Tickets are non-transferrable. Unauthorized transfers will be voided and all tickets in the group will be cancelled.

What else do I need to know?

Fans with questions about the lottery process may call the Washington Redskins’ guest services department at 301-276-6068.

All fans may also visit the inaugural Washington Redskins Fit Fest at the Greater Richmond Convention Center on August 2-3. For details on this free, open-to-the-public event visit www.redskins.com/fitfest.

As a reminder, all practice sessions other than the ones specified above do not require lottery entry. Fans are encouraged to sign up to attend training camp online at www.redskins.com/trainingcamp. This site is also home to the full training camp practice schedule.

I feel bad for any fan that tries to go to ANY fan Appreciation day! I made that mistake once in Ashburn... never again!

I can only imagine the hassle this is going to become, you know a lot of people are still going to show up trying to get in.

Carlisle was fun, small crowds, easy access to players and coaches and a nice small town.

I don't think anyone thought that camp here in RVA was going to be as successful as it was last year (and people were debating on this board if Richmond was Redskins Country RVA HTTR for LIFE) now it is going to get even bigger!

I like and don't like the ticket thing, cause I cleared some things to go to these joint practices even got rides for my kids to go to day care so I could go and now I probably wont so all that work is for nothing. We even have some friends from Mass that are huge PATS fans and they might not get to go. However limiting the amount of people is going to make the experience for people who go better.

I hope at some point they can figure out how to make it inclusive but not horrible with a lot of people.

You're best bet if you are coming here to Richmond to observe training camp is to go on a weekday.

The local paper (the Times-Dispatch)says that the average crowd was around 6,000 on weekdays, which the training facility can easily handle. On weekends, however, the crowds could be as much as three times that size (18,000 folks). Fan Appreciation Day the crowds were around 25,000+.

They've added Sunday practices this season, so that might spread out and ease the weekend crowds, but your best be would probably still be to go on a weekday, if you can

I hope I end up beside the "you gotta catch with your hands" guy again. He was hilarious. Telling players they needed to tighten up and that he was gonna be hard on them to push them to a championship.

On 2nd thought...

That just reminded me of this (and the appearance of Norval in the video is purely coincidence)

(bleeped but it might be NSFW -- i'm not sure where the mods stand on this, so i'm linking)
