ESPN poll: Do the Skins have the best receiver duo in NFC East?

DeSean Jackson joining Pierre Garcon in Washington brings up this question: Which team has the best receiver combination in the NFC East? Jackson and Garcon are clearly a potent duo to deal with twice a year within the division. But don't forget about the Dallas Cowboys.

Not surprising, considering the poll is being hosted on the ESPN Dallas Cowboys web page under the title "Cowboys have best receivers in NFC East" lol...

NFC East, yes. They have one of the best duos in the NFL now.

fan voting systems are a joke now

The poll doesn't ask about receiving duos...it asks about best WR corps.

Best WR Group - Washington

I think Dez is the best in the group. But Garcon and Jackson are not far behind. But they are both better options than Williams. Same with Roberts and Moss.

Best Receiving group (With TE's) - Dallas.

No.  You have a #3 comparable to Roberts?  Jordan will be special and Witten is just getting older.  Don't see this at all, and it's not really even close.

The Redskins are not as popular as the Cowboys, any kind of public poll with the Cowboys in it is suspect. Truth is on paper no one comes close in this division for receivers as a whole as the Redskins today. The best Receiver in the division is Dez, but collectively T. Will, J. Witten, G. Escobar, C. Beasily and that Predator look alike D. Harris do not hold up to DJax, P. Garcon, A. Roberts, L. Hankerson, J. Reed and L. Paulson. The proof will be shown in the season. The Redskins receiving group is now as good as the Possee if things hold up

We have the best trio right now.  Fiscal responsibility for a few years and no cap penalty has made a big difference to our team, not least at WR.  Whilst we have yet to see scheme/play calling fit we have proven NFL stars as our starting WR corps.  .

Garcon and Roberts would have been good, adding Jackson too is almost unfair. Next up a Redskin OL to make full use of the crazy talent we have at the skill positions:)

i absolutely do not get all the Andre Roberts love from Redskins fans.  who are you guys confusing him with?  he was a semi-decent #3 receiver in Arizona last year.  no more.  his stats were virtually identical to moss's last year.  about 40 catches, about 450 yards, about 11 yards per catch, and two touchdowns.  it'll be interesting to see who wins out between he, moss, and hankerson, but i don't see why he's considered some huge upgrade here.

On paper we have the best WR Duo right now in the NFCE. It's really not even close. Even if you expand that to overall receiving corps I would say we still have the best, but it would be a little closer with the cowturds. I think we are top 5 on paper right now as a receiving duo in the whole NFL, but that's just on paper. Remember DJax and Garcon haven't even played a snap together. Let's have this debate next year at this point.

Don't worry I think we will all agree it's the Redskins.

People like to think that he hasn't got his chance because he played behind Floyd and Fitz. Just another mediocre signing. He'll be cut in a couple years

He was the one responsible for Arizona drafting floyd because they didn't think they had a good #2. I don't think he'll be cut but I agree that people overestimate him.

Garcon, DJax, Roberts. Other 2 are likely Robinson and Hank or Moss. That is a top 10 unit in the NFL and certainly best in the East.

and I base that opinion off seeing Roberts play and being a big fan of his. I wanted him signed before FA started.

I'll be the first to admit that I like Andre Roberts because he always found his way on one of the fantasy teams in our leagues, lol. Even if he was on waivers for a week, he would have a big game and get picked up by someone every time.

So, yeah, that's my detailed assessment. :P

Seriously though, the guy produced for the Cardinals pretty well up until last year, and that was with some of the worst QB play in the league. Now, you could say last season was a slight on him and that he couldn't beat Floyd out for playing time, but I think it's more about Bruce Arian's style of offense than anything else. The guy would almost never put more than two WRs out on the field, and even when he brought out a spread look, he used TEs and HBs before he'd put out another WR.

So, yeah, maybe Bruce Arians didn't view him as anything more than a slot guy and, therefore, he didn't fit into what they were doing there. He signed here because he knew he wouldn't just be a slot guy here, but also an outside WR. Probably why he was frustrated when we signed Desean.

Still, he's going to be utilized either way because we'll have three WRs more often than not if Gruden stays consistent with what he's done in the past. And Garcon or Jackson can line up in the slot any time, so he'll still get plenty of chances to line up outside. The flexibility we have should be fun to watch should they all stay healthy, God willing. If Hankerson comes back to full health quickly and Robinson improves all-around... wow.

I think most of the opinions of him on here are just based on blind hope because we gave him that pretty big contract, but that's just me.

So in your opinion, nobody actually looked at his stats, read any reports on his play, discussed his pros and cons with anyone else, analyzed his play within the context of coaches, schemes, and quality of QBs he's had to work with...and instead just based their optimistic views on how much we are paying him?

You'll excuse me if I don't buy into your logic right away lol...

Andre Roberts is better than Santana Moss currently. Santana Moss had a 9.0 drop rate and pretty pedestrian statistics and he didn't have to beat out Larry Fitz or what the front office considers the future in MIchael Floyd.

Andre Roberts had a 1.3 drop rate and not only does he posses 4.4 speed but he is an AMAZING route runner, can block and he catches with his hands not with his body.

A lot of people don't know who he is because he played in Arizona and he wasn't a "starter" but I've seen him absolutely SHRED zone defenses with his superior route running. When the games get here a LOT of you doubters will be pleasantly shocked by Andre Roberts and just remember you heard it here first.
