The attack on the U.N. base in Bor, the capital of Jonglei state, began when militants used rocket-propelled grenades to breach the compound, U.N. spokesman Joseph Contreras said. Contreras said the gunmen then opened fire at the base, where peacekeepers had been hosting and protecting nearly 5,000 civilians. Full article at link. Larry
Yeah. Condolences for civilians who just want to be left alone. And for those willing to risk their lives, to protect them.
mcsluggo
this crap just breaks my heart. when society breaks down, and failsafes are largely removed, a few sucky people can wreck complet havok.. and it creates greater instability and pent up resentment for the NEXT generation of sucky people to exploit. It is a self-fueling cycle of hell.
Mr. Sinister
this crap just breaks my heart. when society breaks down, and failsafes are largely removed, a few sucky people can wreck complet havok.. and it creates greater instability and pent up resentment for the NEXT generation of sucky people to exploit. It is a self-fueling cycle of hell. I remember listening to a guy tell the story o his escape from one of those areas, and how his wife and daughter were murdered in the process. I don't think I could ever recover from something like that, but he seemed pretty strong willed about it. Talked about how a lot of those rebels/soldiers that murdered people struggle to live with themselves later in life, and often committed suicide. Horrible story. mcsluggo
it takes a truly special person to be able to recover and find peace after that... most are just consumed with anger and become the next wave of the continuing problem. i have to say that if i went through that... i think i would become an inhuman monster

Even with that, my brain simply cannot process the pain of seeing your wife and child gunned down mercilessly. There would be no way to reach me.... Ever.
