skins island connection
Many a player have put on a helmet, pads, etc, and played against the Redskins over the decades. Some were on rival teams, others on teams we rarely faced, and for reasons unknown, seem to have gotten underneath one's skin at some point. So, I thought this may be a little fun, and interesting, to see which player, past or present, really irked you to the point of nausea. Who was the player who you rooted for to fail or hope they had a horrible game? But, after you name a player, give a reason why; what was it about the player that rubbed you the wrong way, and would you have wanted him to play in the Burgundy & Gold? Mine? I would have to say Michael Irvin, just because of his arrogance and showboating. But, I will say, that if he were on the Redskins, Rypien may have had another SB victory, or 2. Would it have been worth it? IMO, yes.
Dan T.
Well, the elephant in the room for this discussion would be Desean Jackson. It was reeal easy to root against him when he was wearing the green. And he wasn't the kind of player who you would want on your team. But I'm sure I'm not alone in working to reprogram my feelings towards him.

Hershel Walker he was completely responsible for the Cowboys success in the 90's... Just kidding..LOL.... I have to go with Michael "the king of push-off" Irvin also....I totally rspect Landry, Staubach, Dorsett, Emmitt and Troy Aikman... just not Irvin so much. Chants
All Eagles associated with the "Body bag" game. Emmit Smith. Dude burned us hard almost every game. Others may come to mind. But hate is a big word.

To this day, I can't stand him, but when he played....? Ooh, I hated Michael Irvin. It's tough to find another name that gets the hair on the back of my neck to stand on end like Michael Irvin. The Rook
Mr. Offensive Pass Interference? You are giving way too much credit to POS Irvin. Another 2 Superbowls? Without Aikman and Smith he wouldn't have sniffed the HOF. I don't like seeing him now. The Rook
jpoer
For me it has to be someone that plays for the cowboys... Right now it begins and ends with romo... I DESPISE anything and everything having to do with him... And for those that have irvin on their list... The thing I have against him, is how in the world was he elected to the HOF before Art Monk???

Mr. Sinister
I'm with Dan. For years I envisioned Desean Jackson being hit over the middle like one of those crash test dummies. Just complete devastation. Instead it was the other way around. Now that he's on our team, I will probably go with McNabb. Dude made a ton of plays against us over his career. Hated playing against him.
Gibbs Hog Heaven
All time: Does the POS that is Mike Shanahan count as a non-Redskin again now? If not Marcus Allen, for he made 9 year old moi cry myself to sleep on the couch that black Sunday January 22, 1984. All after I'd snuck back downstairs after everyone was in bed only to have my young heart ripped out. Topped off by my mum scolding me before school as she woke to find me on the couch. One day I will catch up with the aforementioned Mr.Allen. There WILL be blood! It's high on my bucket list. Current: Richard Sherman. And it's not even close. Hail. KuNiT21
For me it's Michael Vick. Not only character but also the fact that he just seems like the Redskins kryptonite. I never really minded playing the Eagles, but the Eagles with Vick had me scared every single game and rightfully so. And I'm sick and tired of hearing dumb Eagle fans throw out "Look at people like Dante Stallworth who actually killed a human". How many people made a really dumb mistake as kids like getting behind the wheel of a car after too much to drink? How many people get aroused watching dogs get electrocuted, Beagals/Labs getting tossed into a cage of 5+ pitbulls, and blowing dogs heads off with a shotgun? Honestly, I don't really hate anyone really, but if Vick died for some reason tonight I'll think about for a mere 2 seconds and continue with my life without even caring about him. I don't really care that he "did his time", for someone to perform actions like these they are very sick and need help. If it wasn't for Vick ruining his chances of collecting money again, he would open his "compound" right back up. If the Redskins signed him this offseason, I would 100% no longer be a Redskins fan again.

Hail4Life
I never liked Emmitt Smith. I always thought he was way overrated and that any average RB could have done what he did with that big Oline he had in Dull ass. Even with the oline he had he never impressed me, I just always saw him as an average back in a good situation. Never understood all the praise but of course he is a cowgirl so I naturally disliked him. Add to that Troy Aikman, I don't like his face, how he talks, how he looks in those crappy looking cowgirl uniforms, just the sight of him literally made me go "ick". rskin72
That is a tough one...I generally do not prefer showboat, me first type players vice players that I thought were class acts...like a Marcus Allen...who also just happened to torch us in a very meaningful game. I never really hated DJ, just hated that he had to play against us twice a year, and always seemed to scorch our D. I do not hate Romo, not his fault that most major mediots working for ESPN are also Romo homers....and do have to give him credit for playing hurt and being a good QB. I never liked Irvin.....and it went beyond his play on the field. Same with TO. While both were playmakers.....TO was the epitome of a "look at me" player....and Irvin had enough off field issues that took him down several notches in my list of all time great WR's. To this day I turn the channel when he is on, cannot stand to listen to him. For the Skins.....guess Fat Albert would fit that bill. A lazy, worthless slug while on our team. When he tried, he was an impact player, but he got the $$$ and that was it for him.
44aDieselGirl
Lawrence Taylor & Mike Vick. Can't pick just one. I also dislike strongly Ngata.
Aireskoi
JaMarcus Russell - Waste of talent and opportunity. I have no real dislike for any player that was great in the NFL for any team, once they are done playing football anyways. Respect for worthy opponents even if they were dominant. nemocystem
I have a lot of hate to spread around. Some guys have tempered my disdain over time...like Tom Brady for example. For some reason I don't hate him nearly as much as I used to. Anyway. ..my list goes: 1) Deion Sanders - great athlete...exciting playmaker....yadda, yadda. I don't hate his flashiness so much as I hate that it superceded his actual skill imho. I have many arguments, & it's hard to refute what he did in his career...but the whole "guys never threw his way" schpiel was garbage imo. It's simple to me. There were like 5 or 6 good QB's at any given time in the NFL those days. Not nearly enough good WR's. Passing offenses were vanilla compared to today's NFL...& very few teams ever excelled at run & pass equally at the same time. So....When these ultra conservative coaches came to town (see: Marty-ball & how many coaches subscribed to that style of play during that era), it wasn't as much as ANY pass his way could/would get picked, they simply weren't going to take the risk because 1 pick his way could very well equal 6 pts. I think it's his bravado to pair his actual value that bugged me. Then he joined the Cowboys, & the 9ers, & that never helps in my view. A lot like... 2) Dicky Sherman - ...He plays one side of the field with an all pro safety over the top, & good coverage LB's underneath running cover 3. ..it's not like he's owning your best WR all over the field. Especially for him to spout the way he does. I don't wish injury on but a select few....he is one of them. 3) John Taylor - I've eased up some over the years...but during a time when I was pulling for the Rams almost (using that term loosely) as much as my Skins, it seemed like every time they played he would rip off a 98 yard slant route to the house. EVERY SINGLE TIME. 4) Merton Hanks - another guy I've softened my stance on over the years. ..but I swear, anytime I had to look up & watch him return a pick for a TD & do that dying chicken on a an electric fence celebration I wanted to kick my TV. 5) The entire 90's Cowboys dynasty - just couldn't stand their ever changing uniforms, ultra arrogant, uber obnoxious, extremely lucky....everything. ESPECIALLY the media love fest. The way John Madden would drone on, & on about every little thing they did... It's like that Scottish (I think) announcer for La Liga fūtbol right now. The way that guy just makes it his absolutely legacy to talk about Lionel Messi or Christiano Ronaldo at any flipping opportunity. I used to like Messi...but I can't watch a Roma vs Napoli game without that guy waxing, & waning poetic about Messi...I'm just so sick of it. Anyways....there's my list.
