rollerpimp
Hello Redskins Nation! I have been a fan of the Redskins since 1971 when my family moved to NOVA. I have cheered for them every year since then. I was diagnosed with spinal cancer when I was 12 and got to be visited several times by Redskins players and the first song I sang my daughter after we adopted her was Hail to the Redskins. I am now a graphic designer and teacher that is working on my Master of Fine Arts online with Savannah College of Art and Design. I am in a class where we are learning about typography and mark making. For my main project we must do a type analysis of anything of our choosing. Well obviously the long history of the Skins has me jumping at the opportunity to use them for my project. But I need help on this so here is my request, I am looking for high res photos of OFFICIAL signage, uniforms, etc of the name Redskins or Washington Redskins from as far back as possible to today. Specifically on the name not so much the logo. I am collecting this into a book talking about the time periods that changes were made and possible reasons behind those changes but it will not be made for sale, this is purely a school project and I would be happy to send you my file when I am done if you are interested. You would get credit in the project for providing pictures and if it is ever made for sale then we could talk about purchase of the rights to those pictures. This project is due in 8 weeks so I have to get started on it ASAP. I have contacted the PR dept but just want to cover every base I have access to at this point. I am also going to be contacting the Giants, Bears and Lions because all have longevity and history and will round out the book nicely with rivalries as well. I would really appreciate any and all help. I can give you my school email or number if you like but think this could be a really cool project when I am done. Thank you and HTTR! ddub52
I have some semi-vintage Redskins gear, pennants etc. Would taking high-res photos of those things help?
rollerpimp
YES! That would be great! If you can take pictures of it and close ups of the name that would perfect. Also the dates when you think they are from. YES! I knew Redskins Nation would be the quickest and best! timcox20 (at) student.scad.edu or my personal address is token.crip (at) gmail.com Thank you! ddub52
I will have them to you shortly! Glad to help. UPDATE: Sent them over. I found some unique stuff that I forgot I had. I have more stuff in storage but cant get to it anytime soon. Hope they work out for you. I did my best with the photos, but if you need better close ups or anything else don't hesitate to ask. Also, you might be getting some emails from DeSean Jackson with an email address like that
rollerpimp
Hi Everyone! I would still love to have some help on this project. I thought of an idea to see the change in the way the name Redskins is shown over the years is on Pennants and/or Game Day magazines. I want to break it down by decade so if I could get at least one picture of one of those things from each decade I would be good to go. I can find a few things online but not enough to give a good report. I am please asking for the Redskins nation to help out a fan and blow away the other books. Again this is not for resale and is purely for a scholarly assignment in grad school. Thanks and HTTR! timcox20 (at) student.scad.edu
TexasSkinsFan
Have you looked into the Redskins encyclopedia by Mike Richmond? I have it and it goes into detail about this. Its a must own and could be a valuable asset to your project.
rollerpimp
I have it on order but since I haven't seen the inside I can't tell what I have to work with yet.
elkabong82
google images could be a big help if pulling images is ok. If you need actual photos then the Redskins PR dept. is a great start. Also consider contacting the NFL and the Hall of Fame. These are all our uniforms. They don't really have our name on that so probably a dead end there. You may want to try hats since some have the name, though most will just have the Indian head logo or the "R" logo. Pennants are going to be your best bet. That and old press releases which bare the name if you can find pictures of them and not stuff in black and white newspapers. If you search "redskins pennants" under google images you get a ton of different styles of the name Edit- also, programs from big games and old trading cards

RabidFan
Ahhhh. My bad as i was tying it to the gang affiliation given to Desean. One of the best things one can have is a great sense of humor. Kudos.
