This isn't a very large undertaking to say the least, but this should be your companion guide to the FA and Draft threads. Many people don't seem to be aware what our roster looks like by asking if so and so is still on the roster or not. So I'm going to go ahead and post our roster here and try to do my best in updating this bad boy.

Please Note: I'm listing players in the positions that they are listed on the Redskins official roster. Don't kill the messenger. Also of note: They group guys in very strange ways.

Thanks for putting it together. Easy to see that the team IS very "thin" at the safety positions. :(

The Rook :)

I wish I understood the logic of how the team (read: web page people) groups guys.

Gumbs is listed as a DB. As is Trenton Robinson.

Mouton and Minnifield are as well.

But Crawford is listed as a CB (which is the position he plays. But so does Minnifield...) *shrug*

If I had to parse this down, I would say there are currently 50 "solid" 53-man roster spots taken up. But that is certainly flexible, as there is room to add more guys through the draft/FA. I include someone like Santana in that group even though he could easily be a cut-down guy in camp ... same with Geathers and Worthington. I also find it interested Merriweather is listed as a FS when we all thought he was brought back to play SS? Maybe the staff is targeting a Meriweather/Thomas starting combo at safety? Rambo/Gumbs + Draft Pick as backups.

The way I see it, we need to add a CB, OT/OG, FS, TE and WR to solidify our opening day roster. I can't imagine Chester/Golston will stick around either.

Good catch. He's there.

Eyes must have let me miss him. Thanks for the help. Edited.

BUT YOU DIDN'T UPDATE THE NUMBER OF RECEIVERS TO 8+1!!!

On another note, can anyone tell me if Kevin Kowalski's nickname is "Killer?"  Because if so, I demand he be on the final roster.

Now I did.

Updated the offense and total players, too. Just for you.

I live to needle.  Seriously though, good thread idea.  Some of our positions are a nuclear wasteland of missing talent.  Be interesting to see what develops over the next few months.

I still wish I had any semblance of a clue as to why the team lists some of the guys as they do.

Even with tackles (which I changed due to principle)... Polumbus and Williams were listed as "T" and Compton as "OT". What the heck? Why?

I think (maybe) one of the criterion being used by the team is based on what they can play. So, for Linebackers, Will Compton and Darryl Sharpton can ONLY play Inside Linebacker and Brandon Jenkins can ONLY play Outside, whereas the rest of them may line up at either spot depending on the formation?

I don't know, that's my stab at it, lol. The way the Oline is listed also gives it a little credence, Lichtensteiger is listed as "Guard/Center" and the rest of the guys have their specific orientation.

The only one that confuses me is "DB". You'd think the guys that can move between CB and Safety depending on formation would be there, but I don't see Chase Minnifield ever lining up as a Safety or Gumbs lining up at CB.

As always, great job dawg.

Do you ever wonder if there must be some profit in deliberately fielding a consistently failing franchise?

It would explain so much.

The Redskins...NFL's version of The Producers. :)

I'm most interested in what we're gonna do at FS.  I'd also be interested to know what they think they can get out of TJackson.  They must be pretty high on his ability to come back and play.

I still think Clark signs with us when the dust settles, and we put BMeriweather in the box.

If we draft an ILB, there will be some stout competition there.

Thanks KDawg.

Redskins claimed DL Brandon Moore off waivers from the Chiefs.

Moore, 23, went undrafted out of Texas last year after leaving the Longhorns a year early. He spent 2013 on Kansas City's practice squad. At 6-foot-5, 317, Moore projects as a defensive end prospect in the Redskins' 3-4. Mar 24 - 4:33 PM

I'm only going to add guys to this roster once redskins.com adds them. DC9 is all over the new acquisitions and doing an excellent job. This isn't a breaking news type a thread, it's more of a reference list. This is also probably a better place to have conversations about #1 receivers and franchise OLBs than the FA thread as well :)

I don't see Jerome Murphy listed. Was he cut?

He's on the Broncos roster.
