PokerPacker
I know a number of people have been saying how disrespectful that goal was, but come on, he's 19 and was playing his what, 3rd NHL game? I think he's allowed a grace period to have fun and not worry about the hurt feelings of grown men.

I agree, but I also think I'll take a measure of satisfaction from seeing him pancaked in the near future just to put him in his place. Just once, just to prove a point and welcome him to the pros. KDawg
My Sabres are tough to watch, but they're rebuilding and I'm not angry with that. That's all I need to say. Carry on.

Oates was wrong in criticizing the goal. He should have said something like.. I don't think I would have done it that way or whatever and moved on. It gets even more stupid when he coaches one of the most glaring offenders of "his code" in hockey.
BlueinBuf
I'm a senators fan(live in the town their AHL team plays in) and I've been pretty disappointed with them so far. For having one of the best defensemen in the league they have not been able to play any kind of defense at all. Hopefully things change after this west coast trip they're on is over. There's a difference between doing something amazing to score a goal, and showboating because you're up 7-1 or whatever the score was. I recall Eric Belanger scoring a between-the-legs goal for us a couple years back, but the difference was that he found himself in a situation where somehow that was his best chance to score, while Hertl did it on a breakaway when his team had a huge lead because he wanted to. But, as I said before, he's young, so I won't judge him harshly for having fun, if he continues to purposely embarrass teams like that, don't be surprised when someone tries to take his head off. The Evil Genius
Maxim Lapierre's hit on Boyle last night was the epitome of what the NHL is trying to get rid of. I hope he gets at least 10 games for that cheapshot.
RonArtest15
I have more of a problem with the Rangers sandbagging it moreso than with what Hertl did. Hertl's goal got people talking. People who don't necessairly (sp?) follow the sport. For a league that could always use some good exposure, what he did was great for the game. I hope he gets at least 10 games for that cheapshot. I don't think it deserves 10 games. There was no ill intent. Boyle stumbled right before contact and that is what put him in a vulnerable position. If he is standing up, there isn't even a penalty called. He was close enough to the boards it isn't boarding, the contact isn't straight to his numbers - he hit his lead shoulder first. With his history, he will definitely get a couple games. But is not worthy of the 10 game suspension handed down to Kaletta over the weekend.

As bad as this may sound, a lot of the responsibility should fall on Boyle as well. To me, there didn't seem to be any ill-attempt. However, as wishy-washy as Brendan Shanahan is when giving out suspensions, I'm sure he'll get a game or two.

Cyclops
Well hockey players are bosses. Grabo taking a skate to the face and coming back out the next period. Brian Cambell last year playing on the broken leg. Love hearing of all the injuries they guys played through at the end of the playoffs. Guys in the NFL missing weeks with turf toe. Broken leg? Nope going to finish my shift first.

Now it's a flagrant foul if you wrap up a guy. Thanks pisstones.
