..... The Reds were on it from the first whistle and could/ should have been 5 or 6 up at the break. And that's without the absolutely abysmal officiating of K. Friend Esq. turning down not one, not two, but THREE stonewall penalties. This is getting beyond ridiculous now. It's like there's a conscious thing to not award L'pool penalty kicks at Anfield. When Tottenham Hotspur have won more penalties than L'pool over the season at Anfield something is BADLY wrong! (And neither of those were penalty's to just add insult to injury.). These aren't contestable, questionable decisions. These are absolute blatant, straightforward decisions we continue to be robbed blind of. Three of the last four league games alone against West Brom and Stoke. 3 blatant penalty's turned down those games. They get awarded, and Tottenham's mad game today doesn't matter. Third is wrapped up. The points cost on shockingly bad officiating this season has been criminal. If it evens itself out over the season, Real Madrid better be prepared for EVERYTHING going against them Kiev along with facing double-figure penalty's! I'm personally against VAR. Mainly from a time standpoint, having witnessed the shambolic carnage of the West Brom Cup tie live when nobody in the ground had a F clue what was going on. But something has to give as this is getting VERY costly. Mr Friend. Take a bow. It took to the last game of the league season but you've somehow managed to up all your brethren's incompetence and take it to a whole new level of ****e. Well done you Sir!  .....

This is blowing me away more than anything today. Since the Tottenham debacle at Wembley back in October, we've had the best defensive record the entire league.

That's the last 3 quarters of the PL season. And as influential as the World Class van Dijk has been, he's only played in 14 of those 29 games.

Totally fly's against the popular myth that L'pool still can't defend under Klopp huh?

PEAK6 Investments LP announces that it has entered into exclusive discussions with Bernard Caïazzo and Roland Romeyer for the acquisition of the # ASSE.

PEAK6, based in Chicago, is already a minority shareholder in AS Roma (Italy) and AFC Bournemouth (England), and the majority shareholder of Irish club Dundalk FC.

I find the concept of a heat map interesting.

I guess Messi is now a lock for the European golden boot, too.

Watching "angry Messi", for example in El Clasico, gives hints of what he must have been like when he was 22, before he started dropping deeper. I've seen the youtube videos, but it makes me a little sad to have missed that.

@techboy Uncannily, I have just literally finished reading a piece on Firmino, following on from Henry gushing over him as the most complete forward in England, that had a linked tweet in it comparing heat maps:

Work rate and all out dedication to constantly improve. No matter how good they are.

What sets the greats apart from the just very good players.

On the flip side, I recently heard a story that someone was talking about workrate with Cruyff, and he responded (paraphrased) "You have to run that much? You must be very bad." :ols:

If you press ineffectively, you do an awful lot of running.

Classic Cruyff.

One of the coolest MF's on the planet. The single greatest European footballer of all time IMHO. And a transient, completely revolutionary coach/ manager.  Everything modern day Barca are is down to him.

Would have loved to have seen him play live. I was sadly just that little bit too young to be allowed/ taken the match when he faced us for Barcelona the UEFA Cup semi in '76.

God rest.

100% against this latest F-ed up idea from the imbeciles at FIFA.. But money will doubtless dictate as always.

Not that I care one way or the other on England, but that would be a fantastic experience in Trent's development and cap off, as if starting in the biggest game in football a week Sat'day doesn't constitute that, a wonderful first full season as a pro. Interesting to see if he makes it tomorrow.

Rather Lallana
be left out to have a proper pre-season but he's one of the best England have so I can't really blame Southgate for taking him off the back of next to no football. High risk, high reward and all that.

Just because ..... Those diags man. EVERY game. Like a QB sat back there. Coolest MF on the pitch with the ability of a 10 to go along with being a big, hard, WC CH. Never thought I'd say this on the mad crazy sum of £75 million, but worth every last penny! Exquisite footballer.

Football porn.

Take time out to read the Mel Reddy piece above too man.Must read, sensational writing.

Okay, but can he do it on a balmy Saturday afternoon in Sevilla?

Limitations of statistics aside, it's pretty crazy to me that the top 5 are all from Argentina, and yet their national team is considered to not have much of a chance in the World Cup.

So you're saying Spurs got one third of our Pen allotment for the last three seasons in one match?
