  1. 2018 Washington Nationals - High Cheese

Are there mixed emotions from the Nats fanbase about this? On one hand, it sucks to see him struggle if you guys think that this could be the last season in the window. On other hand, if he has a bad year heading into free agency, might drive the price down. Certainly makes it harder to justify spending a ton of money on him. The OBP is still pretty legit, good separation between that and his batting average.

Need to get a doormat for the new apartment. Thinking about a getting a doormat of either the Cowboys, Eagles, Yankees or Red Sox. Hear me out. If I am going to have something outside of my apartment to wipe my wet, muddy, gross shoes/boots on, I want it to be on something I don't like. I wouldn't ever get a Redskins/Orioles doormat because those are my teams. I'm not going to disrespect the franchises, even though they tempt me daily. Great series until it became the Jim and Pam show.
  3. Who wants Olive Garden?

There's a WaHo down the street. Planning on making a trip for breakfast on Saturday morning. Trying to keep healthy eating during the week, eating what I want within reason on the weekends. In the Bourdain thread, I posted a clip of him trying the pecan waffles, something I've never tried there. So that's what I'm gonna get.
  4. Cue token comments about Trump and his voters.
  5. First of all, their pizza is pretty decent. Especially for a big chain. I'm not saying it's better than your local favorite mom and pop shop, but it's not bad. At least they got the message years ago and changed things, even though it was mainly dumping seasoning on the crust. Second, we've got a pizza company filling pot holes and Dennis Rodman crying on TV about Trump and Kim meeting. ****s getting weirder by the second, I don't like it. @No Excuses nailed it, we are well on our way. Third, while I am happy that someones taking care of it, I partially agree with @Renegade7 that the tramp stamp advertising thing is dumb. Just provide a nice service, talk about it and promote it but I don't feel the need to see Domino's logos on the street. The beautiful canvas of life is constantly being encroached by marketing and ads coming from every direction, nothing is sacred anymore, not even a ****ty street. Fourth, local governments are being made to look like the lazy, incompetent boobs that they can be by a pizza company. Can't trust the local or federal government and elected officials for anything. And yet, people want to put them in charge of more ****.

Yeah, that's the reason I don't like SRV. Great talent, love how he plays. Just too overproduced, everything is crystal clear and sounds too clean. This Otis Rush song is the **** right here.

In my never ending quest to find blues music that isn't too over produced, I've found this. Not perfect, but pretty solid.

I like how you low key called yourself a sex machine.

Best of luck to you man. I have been slow cooking chicken like a champ in the crock pot, but tossing in some BBQ sauces. your way sounds a lot better, I should probably try that.

Those guys are still around? They were great back in the day. I've been listening to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx the past couple mornings while working out.

Get a Vitamix, frozen fruits from Costco and then freeze the veggies (spinach, kale) and make a smoothie a day. Juicing sucks, it leeches out a lot of nutrients. I've been doing that, also doing HIIT on the treadmill at the gym. Been working great. If you hate using blenders, my friend has been hyping this stuff to me for the past few weeks, I am thinking about trying it.****tail/dp/B00THEPSPW/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1528820957&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=athletics+greens&psc=1 I hate veggies. Hate, hate, hate. Gotta get em somehow though, they're key. So either I will mask them in a fruit smoothie or just get them in powder form.

I can't believe Dennis Rodman is in the news tonight as a good will ambassador or whatever. This is how far we have fallen as a culture. I know, I know, Donald Trump is president. But still, Dennis Rodman. Goodnight.

Nah, they've got a bunch of stuff at this one, they have the locker room shirts in youth sizes. Some other tshirts, they had a pennant last week which looked pretty cool. They'll get the locker room shirt back and it's just a couple miles away from the apartment so I can check in often.

Winchester, VA, Not exactly a hotbed. Might get out to the one in Dulles this weekend.

Post a photo after you get all that stuff. I went to Dick's today, they had a cool Tervis tumbler mug thing that I almost got. Holding out for the locker room tshirt, they still don't have it.
  17. Do we have a reading comprehension problem here? I said that the media and fan base built up RG3 only to tear him down. That could happen here with Guice. I didn't mention draft status, I didn't mention anything about a blockbuster trade. That's you interjecting your own viewpoints.
  18. First, you might want to spell his name right. Second, my comparison wasn't about being a national headline and what we gave up in the draft. It was more about an area's love affair with an athlete and how we build players up only to tear them down when they don't perform. Already on twitter I'm seeing people call Guice the GOAT. Really?
  19. I remember Cooley gushing over how he called plays in the huddle, how everyone was just enthralled with him.
  20. Vaya Con Dios, Manny! The plight of the 2018 Orioles

    **** this team.
  21. I can just hear it now, IF he doesn't produce over his first few games... "Oh, maybe he shouldn't be going out and watching the Avengers" "Dude cares more about Fortnite than reading his playbook"' "Cares more about his Twitter feed" I've seen it way too many times here. The press and the fanbase love to tear down the ones they get all hyped about.
  22. You need to remember back to the draft where we picked RG3, his first training camp and his first season. There were no issues with his personality, his dumb little quotes. Everything was absolutely positive and glowing. Hard to believe when you think about it, but the honeymoon here was a true love affair between RG3, the press and fans.
  23. I am as excited about Guice as anyone else. Call me cynical, but I am cautious. We've seen this before. A love affair with a draft pick, someone we think that can come in right away and make a difference. He performs, we win, the feels are warm and fuzzy. Injuries, poor performance, speculation in the media, comments made by that athlete that are unfavorable. Love affair falls apart, nasty divorce ensues. I hope that Guice absolutely kills it here, spends his career in Washington, wins an ring or two and ends up a hall of famer. Or at least is a very good player on some very good teams and becomes a local DC sports legend/hero. I feel that the chances of that aren't as great as what happened with a certain QB that will remain nameless. Maybe not to that extreme, but I feel that this has a better chance of going south than it does swimmingly. I'll end it on this point: The media loves to tear down what they helped create. They absolutely love it. We saw it with a certain QB that remains nameless. This is a fickle fan base, all the free Avengers tickets and tweets from a Stanley Cup game won't amount to anything if he doesn't perform and keep the positive vibe.

So across the street from my new apartment is a gas station and I went in there the other day to get a Gatorade after my run. Nicest guy ever behind the counter, the previous owners of the gas station had let the lease expire and moved out. This guy came along, sunk his savings into it and is running a good shop. The gas prices are right, the store inside is better than a 7-11. Great beer selection and if he doesn't have something that you want, he'll order it for you. Solid selection of household items and stuff you might need. For the weed smokers out there, there's a nice selection of bongs there that are for tobacco use only, apparently. He sells fried chicken out of there, sandwiches, and pizza. He delivers anything out of the shop, too. Business is going well for him, he excitedly gave me a menu for his food items and showed me a writeup in a local magazine that mentioned his fried chicken. I told him I'd try it sometime. I'll eat anything but I'm a bit wary of gas station fried chicken and pizza. I went back a few days later to cause I wanted to take a quick walk and get something to drink and right away he remembered me, called me by name and goes "YOU HAVE COME FOR MY FRIED CHICKEN MY FRIEND!" (Yes, he's Indian). I said, "Hey man, I'm really trying to keep a good diet these days, fried chicken isn't..." "I HAVE THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN, YOU MUST TRY IT!" I dropped my defense like a toilet seat and gave in, I can't say no to that. That's a hell of a claim, one worth following up on. I looked behind the glass where he keeps the fried chicken. "Alright, gimme a leg." "TAKE A LEG AND A WING, IT'LL BE CHEAPER" "No, really, just a leg, I don't want to eat too much." "OKAY, OKAY, JUST A LEG." He wrapped it up in a little paper bag, I paid for my drink and the fried chicken leg and left. Opened the bag on my walk back to further inspect what I had just purchased and it didn't look half bad. No shame to my game, I took a bite right then and there. He wasn't lying. He does have the best fried chicken. I am not sure how it's possible but holy **** is it good. I tore that leg up. The breading is awesome and thick, but not too thick. It's got that clean, clear cajun spice to it that is...dare I say it....better than Popeyes. It's super juicy, the meat practically falls off the bone. The spice lingered in my mouth for the rest of my walk back home. It is the best fried chicken I have ever had. If you ever see this stuff out and about in your travels, indulge.
